dude is achieving a whackadoodle tone with the best pedals on the market.
Congrats. didn't know that was possible
0 effort content lol
Tried to give this video a chance, but i lost it at 7:07💀
Im no expert but aren’t chorus pedals supposed to be used more subtlety than this?
There is no rules to follow man... If something works for you then its OK.. If doesn't works for you then it is OK
but i agree i would be alot more subtle than this
@@SergioRamirez-nb6be But this is supposed to be a demo, not a time to experiment.
I have the MXR and it’s truly divine, especially with a fretless bass!
I have the Boss Bass Chorus. I use a lot of depth but a slow rate. The low pass filter comes in handy. It’s a subtle effect that can get lost in a band mix. It does sparkle on double stops and chords.
I can't help but think when reading some of these comments that it seems alot of people think bass is just a backing instrument sorry but that's not true the bass on its own is amazing. How can nobody vibe with that introduction groove fuck it gives me chills. I thought this was very informative and I am definitely getting a chorus pedal for my bass after seeing this.
What awful settings used in this demo. Reviewer never attempted to alter settings to something more useable. Such a pity. Did nothing to show what each pedal was really capable of either.
Here I came for a decent review/example of bass chorus pedals...and all I got was warbling chorus and sloppy playing. :(
How dare you call this sloppy playing when it's actually sh*tty playing
Is this a harmonics demo, or a pedal demo?
this comment kills me xD
Cool! MXR chorus is joining the pedal board this week.
We need some new, updated bass videos such as this. So much potential!
Portrait of Peace was beauuutiful wow man. Killer playing
I mean, I use a Digitech Chorus Factory CF-7 on base. Never cranked it up so it sounded like and of these demos. usually i have my speed rather low and then the effect blend slightly noticeable so it just isn't a pedal i turn on and it does nothing. Took me a while to find the exact sound i liked, so many options on it.
Electro Harmonix clone is what Peter Hook uses. Love that sound.
He uses the original 70s Clone Theory.
It would have been helpful for you to play more than just harmonics when using the MXR. There were only a few seconds of non-harmonic use.
I have the Boss pedal and it sounds way better with less depth and rate, as well as a bit less effect too.
Loathsome demo
Starting with the beanie
I am in physical pain
Seems to be hipster style along with crappy hipster tone
Do any of these ones have multiple LFO shapes? I have an Aguilar Chorusaurus, but I dont like its sine wave LFO
Pearl CH-2 Chorus effect I got back in 82 is the best I've used
i got the hartke the only chorus ive had exp with, i like it considering cost like 70 bucks . IT was a were sorry for you bad experience gift from hartke. then came the hydrive 410 and 600 watt potable head. they went above and beyond to make things right.
I´d be really cool if you could make one with a pick. For all the pedals.
@ Thomann's Guitars & Basses
anywhere we can find the track at 19.23???
Thanks a lot Russell - really like your vids and started to dig this channel
my favorite is the EBS UniChorus. Stereo.
I appreciate the demo it was informative.
Are you sure 🤣
Hi all bass players. Anyone know where I can find a really nice song the illustrates that classic 1980s fretless bass Chorus sound, I'm sure you all have an idea. I really love it and I'm looking for some examples to draw inspiration from. Thanks you all.
I don't know whether to get the Boss chorus or a fender Bubbler Chorus, came here to but was very disappointed (nothing to do with the playing, the settings kinda killed it)
Have you ever picked up a bass before in your life bro
To be fair this guy's job is full stack developer, not professional musician
I think he sounds pretty good actually. It seems like the action is very low on the Lakland and he’s not adjusting his attack to account for the fret-buzz, thus making his tone a little flimsy, but overall, it definitely seems as if he knows what he’s doing on the instrument. He’s a good player with creative ideas.
I was gonna say he's never picked a fretless in his life.
Is he playing bass?
jaco didn't use chorus effects pedals.. his studio sound came from double tracking and he reproduced that live laying a short delay over his dry signal
Turns knobs but covers the settings. Cant play fretless, cant play fretted, next video
"Russell Snyder
Full Stack Developer"
😂
Cool!
The strings on that lakland are hitting something. Also the looping doesn't really help if every piece uses random tunes and random settings on the pedals, which are set to the extremes. Might as well just buy a keyboard.
Awful settings on every pedal, WTF.
speed is to high is he an idiot ?????
+1
I know! A rippling type chorus can sound really good if done right as well
@@ernieflanaganstingraybassm1463 Speaking of idiot.... It's TOO high. lol
I love my Tech 21 Bass Chorus, but it’s on the expensive side
I'd put my Keeley Seafoam Plus set to "bass" up against any of these. It's also a flanger and tremolo!
3:03 noided ;^)
Jaco used the MXR digital delay rack
Not my favourite chorus settings, but i like the weird sounds
exactly agreed ben!!!!!!!
I prefer the speed set to the slowest it will go ,,try it
The Bass salesman at the shop was subbed by the drummer in the drum dept, for this video.
that's what it sounds like
Great demo! I don’t think I like chorus pedals personally but have nothing against them. I am a compressor + eq only guy. 😁
The oldschool BOSS CE-2B kills all of em'...
Can y’all redo this with Julia?
Why this bad dimostration?
are you clifton wright?
For Jaco sound turn the slower ad the depth
With some weed, I do sometimes some stuff like this... if Thomann could send me some other gears like these ones for a try , that's would be very elegant from them.
Chorusaurus Aguilar !!!???
I can't tell if this was a joke or not. He seems so serious,.. but how could anyone get such horrible tones out of the BEST chorus pedals out there? And, if he's demonstrating "BASS" chorus pedals, he should know how to play bass. WTF? IDGI! I'd be so p'd off if I was the sales mngr from any of those companies.
And he has his cliche beanie on! How original! ahahahah
i know man every new pedal im like, how is he gonna fuck this one up? and then to top it off there's no conclusion, no analysis of which pedal might be better or worse
maybe thats a you problem. sound fine to me tbh
It’s always bothered me that they have the tech guy do the demonstration for these videos- have a professional bassist play, tech guy talk about the tech
Hey why don't you try some ESP basses?
Fala muito
This video BLOWS
That one with the purple one, little twiddly, thats so lush, do a two hour sleep video of it dude, honest, i dont know "harvest rest bass sleep tones" or some shit, don't know how much that one is, reminds me of space invaders, but that ones lush
oh my god...INTONATON PRACTICE!!
It's not the intonation, it's that he's got the depth on the chorus cranked on every pedal.
Modulation effects make your instrument sound out of tune. That is by definition the "EFFECT" 12 string guitarists sometimes deliberately tune their octave string slightly flat to get a natural acoustic version of that modulating out of tune sound.
Does your arm ever hurt? Mine sure as hell does.
lmao this shit sounds SOOO funny
Thats so much easier than making it sound like that, shit i have to get one😮 after ages of being "there must be a pedal to make this sound easier to be consistent over each string, im learning by just doing it till good, two years it, still not good enough, not that i have anything other than cds and youtube to judge against, so not good enough
2:00 ....no that's not how chorus pedal works.
Almost every other comment says that the tone is awful and the bass chorus should sound more subtle. However, I believe that there is no such thing as "good" or"bad" tone since it's 100% subjective. Bass is an INSTRUMENT, you can make it sound however you want if it suits your vision. It doesn't even necessarily have to be played as a rhythm section instrument. Personally, I like the more cranked tone as shown in this video.
You forgot to mention the comments saying he can't play for shit!
@@bryanleigh6497 well he can't
I want to evaluate chorus pedals and the looper really isn’t helping.
Maybe he plays saxo 🤔
Lakland is pronounced "Lake-land" with land sounding more like "lind." Hartke is pronounced "Hart-key." Sorry, I usually dont correct pronunciations if there's only one said, but you said 2 in a row...
Hearing the playing on this demo I can assure you this hipster don't know sh*t about music. Pretty sure he's stoned off his *ss during the making of this bunch of not-noise
A real bass player would help on this kind of demos.
Only BOSS RIP Peter Steele
Try Jam waterfall, thank me later
Hey man, these are a great lineup of pedals, but I think people would benefit a lot more from
this demo if it was redone, with someone who actually plays bass. The pedals sound great but this very unmusical
I had to stop watching. Have a good day.
You didn't understand. The pedals and what they sound like are the only point of the vid.
"I would never play it at that fast of a rate"
....Gee no kidding, beanie head.
Its pronounced lake land
fretless bass sounded like a farting hippo!
OMG. That's funny.
Oh yet another bass player wearing a beanie... how original!
Hola gente de Thomann, en mi opinión este video no sirve.Toca diferentes cosas con diferentes seteos y se tarda mucho en cada pedal, eso no sirve para apreciar las diferencias. Saludos.
I am sorry to say touch of bass is so terrible... and settings are terrible too.... Hard to recognize what is good or bad.
This has to be a joke...
I don’t mean to be rude but this video sounds horrible. Bad settings as strange playing. Maybe next time have less extreme settings and simpler playing? Most people just want some simple riffs to hear the pedal’s performance. Surprised a retailer as big as Thomann still has this on their feed!
'Portrait of Peace' 🙄
You just know hes hiding a man-bun under that hipster hat.
The sound at the opening is awful! But it’s a great video!
Yikes. I want none of those.
Everything really needed 18 more loops overtop of each other. I could hear to much of what you were actually playing or demoing when I came here to hear slappy and buzzy garbage
Here you go ;) tho.mn/bdzy7 //Philipp
I like the pretty hat and the salmon pants.
NOT.
Nice guy, but no real experienced basplayer. And all chorus setting are way to much!!! Next time better video. Let Julia do this
I'll take mood-style over "flashy-experience" any day of the week.
Frankly, I appreciated the depths he went to displaying the pedals..
Just have fun man and who cares what you look like while you're doing that?
Too many fakes on youtube
No names
Que chafa
Who dresses this guy
Diane here, asking the important questions!!

@@ThomannsGuitarsBasses
Yeah, and Russell here who works for Thomann but can't play for shit 😂
All sounds terrible, not sure the player knows what he's doing?
what the fuck?
what the fuck is this ?
That SUCKED!!!
Saying "Cool!" after each laughable attempt to play a solo using his beloved looper😂😂
Lakland sounds awful and the bass pedals doesn't help with that either.
They sound better than Fenders. Anything Fender can do, Lakland does better. Still not worth price difference imo.
Terrible.
Bass clone is noisy as hell. Thanks for comparing them.
He must be fired... not good review.
This guy can’t play bass.
he isn't the greatest but c'mon, he isn't that bad.
the chorus settings werent great tho
@@extendocats8533
he is 😂
Too much noodle, not enough demo.
worst player I've ever heard in a demo
Отвратительное композиторское мышление.
