You are always so relatable Mako 💕 Thank you for making this video, and never ever doubt that we will be anything less than delighted to see a new Mako RUclips vid 🤗🥰 I find that painting is like a form of meditation because you can focus on the paint and paper, and let your thoughts be relatively still. After nearly 3 years of learning watercolour, my earlier days of focusing on the outcome of the painting have now passed, and even when I have a major "eeewww" on the painting, I can always learn from it, and a big painting can be used for lots of smaller bookmarks, or for colour testing strips on the reverse! Win, win. I always try to come from a place of curiosity and learning, rather than self-doubt and self-criticism, it seems to be a more fun way of painting - and I have learned all of that from you. Thank you x

However, when our days ahead do not go as planned, it can bring disappointment, self doubt, which leads to unhappiness and unfullfillment. You brought out points of why are we putting pressure on ourselves, what are are intentions, what is the root of our doubt and fears that we project to others. What you have shared is a wonderful gift to us all to take a moment and really look inside ourselves to ask what our motivation is behind what we are doing? What I needed for myself is.... so I feel this internal pressure and impatience to be good and productive right away or I'll just give up to keep looking for something else to be good and productive at right away..... so... be curious. Not negative. Curious. What other areas of my life are like that? Am I ok with that? Yes? No? What's my next intentional step? A positive way to ponder.... thanks again.

This video is amazing. I love your channel; it has taught me so much. I could listen to you share wisdom all day. And I REALLY needed to hear this. Watercolor is the only thing that is going ok for me right now. But this advice is universal. I was struggling with anxiety today, but I feel so much better now. You reminded me that as long as I'm facing forward, I am doing just fine. Even if I'm not moving, as long as i do "a little better," this is doable, I just have to be patient and gentle with myself. I'm going to put this on like 5 different playlists to listen to when I get overwhelmed. 💔❤️🩹💝
Also, I have adhd and painting is the closest I've come to meditation that I've ever come. Also, the part about New Year's resolutions resonated with me. When I was a kid and they explained what they were, I honestly thought it was the stupidest thing I'd ever heard of. It never made any sense, and I hated every year that we did it in school. I was always like, if you know this needs to be changed, why are you waiting until the first of the year, lol. 🥰

It's always astounding to me when people I look up to and admire have or have had these kind of thoughts, especially about imposter syndrome. It comes from an irrational place of "these kind of thoughts are only mine, the other people are too awesome to have them". I am trying to respond from my immediate thoughts/attitude as if I was my own best friend. The way I have been thinking of myself is not how I would treat anyone else. Be your own friend, support yourself. It is difficult to change, but I think this is a very important topic.
