For all he knew he could be plummeting to his doom (and even though Sonic apparently doesn't suffer from fall damage (even though, as showcased in Sonic X (and somewhat with Shadow), falling from space is too much even for him) he had higher chances of landing in ocean instead of land).
That shit goes hard. Imagine a scenario like that. No one is around to help him. To actually have his abilities tested like this. No one could ever help him in this situation. Only he and his speed could ever hope to stand a chance at coming out of it alive.

@leyacinez8496 I'm pretty sure it's meter per second, an average size of a 1000 megawatt nuclear power plant is around 1 mile, if we take his average speed in this video (which was 360 mps) and times that by each second he was running (approximately 70) we get 25,200 meters which is around 14-16 miles, if it was miles per second the building would be 25200 miles squared at LEAST, because of the estimated speed at 360mps, so yeah it makes more sense for it to be meters per second, even meters per second got around the same answer as the original comment, hope this helps!

To be fair he did try outrunning a black hole and that turned out partially horribly. The wisps did get him out and he was strong enough to survive inside for a few minutes, but one of the few times when he was pushed to his limit was ironically one of the only times he actually failed.

@@sh1myuuand don't get us started on archie, where he was so fast that he moved when time was STOPPED, which is literally impossible. To be fair, it was in a Mega Man crossover where he was made into a Robot Master, but it didn't really give him any kind of boost all that much, his mindset just made him not hold back.
The main problem is that it's inconsistent. In colors, we have him almost escaping a black hole in base form. In Lost world he can't save tails from being abducted, despite supposedly being nearly light speed. In the Archie comics he has incredible speed feats which are reminiscent of DC flash, in IDW comics he is certainly fast but he is always described as Mach 1 top. Games never really show his maximum speed, the closest thing we got was that infinite is supposedly faster than him but that doesn't really mean anything. In smash bros, his super form is described as being nearly the speed of light, so logically in base form he is not. Not to mention the numerous times people actually catch up to him, like the custom character in forces being able to stay next to sonic even in boss battles (although he does get tired unlike the blue blur)

0:26 I love that little attention to detail with sonic breaking the item box without even rolling into a ball. It really adds to the tension in this level with sonic having only his speed to rely on showing us how truly FAST he must be going. I wish a sequence like this existed in the mainline series but the closest thing we have are the Mach speed segments from 06 🙃
That and that one sequence in Sonic colors where he's running from the black hole thing, but that sequence is so short it really was just a taste of what should have been something like this. I'd be down for a Sonic level having to run away from something like this main line, the boost levels are already pretty optimal for that, just keep the flow but give like breaks and some leniency so it doesn't have to be perfect for a first run, because no one really knows what to expect for a first run. That's the fun of a Sonic game, a perfect second run, right?

I really wish we could have gotten a mini-level like this in Sonic 2, after the Death Egg began exploding. We have to remember just how massive that thing is, and the potential it could have had as an extra mini 'speed section'.
Sonic peaked at about 465 MPH during this encounter, with the conversion from m/s to mph, this is approximately 1040 MPH. But thats not all, 1035 MPH is also approximately 1.35 Times to the Speed of Sound. Sonic is going 1.35 Times the speed of Sound at some parts. Sorry about that, actually peaked at about 585 m/s, I'd also like to add that he did this going straight and bald with no G-Suit or Frontal Protection so he also felt 59 G's whilst going 1308 MPH or 1.7 Times the Speed of Sound So in Conclusion, Sonic was Experiencing 1308 MPH / 1.7 Times the Speed of Sound 59 Times the Standard Force of Gravity And an Incalculable force of friction that he had to experience and still not slip. Not a Sonic fan but... thats pretty badass, and whoever made those shoes hit me up I slip alot.
I usually use Sonic to inspire me to keep running and moving forward (physically and mentally) and with this I keep thinking about it but in a way that also implements giving your all even if it hurts until the last breath

I love the thought that Sonic is fast enough that he's outpacing the blast, which is strong enough to have a radius of tens of thousands of meters. Where a single slip and he'll get caught. I feel like if the official games did something as intense, back when Sonic first came out, it wouldn't go well with parents lol.
I calculated the canon speed of Sonic, the time it took for this to end, and the speed of an explosion, and figured out that the "fire" (explosions are expanding fireballs) is MORE THAN A NUKE. roughly 17 seconds for Sonic to get away from a roughly nuke-sized explosion. Sonic running from an explosion going at the speed of sound. MORE THAN 1.5 MIN TO ESCAPE. that is MUCH bigger than a nuke.
IDK, but he could outrun a pretty powerful nuke. I know that some nukes can have fireballs of up to 15KM, and I calculated that this would be like a 50KM radius nuke.@@faresalsayed9005

This song somehow fills me with an immense feeling of tenacity, so much so that I can't listen to it if I want to relax, it speaks to my soul, it fuels it. If I listened to it for too long I'd have the insatiable urge to do something, weather it's exercise or just creating a banger of a scenario in my head I cannot reist the almost primal feeling of determination that this song gives me, someone poured their heart and soul into it and it shows. Imagine the panic sonics going through (internally), hes running for his life while a wall of flames quickely follows him. Even I and probably some haven’t played through the entire hack I can feel Sonic’s raw speed and considering he’s running from a nuclear reactor it really does give of “get the hell out of there” vibes similar in sonic adventure 2 where the entirety to prison island is about to explode and you don’t have a lot of time to spare. I like to think Sonic could easily run from it no problem but because of the many slopes and other stuff in this he has to be very careful on how he controls his speed as well as pay attention to the environment around him or else he’ll be dead if he’s not careful, mix that with this music of kentenshi’s paranoia and that your rings are constantly depleting due to how many is needed to get away from the fire, it really makes you feel like you have no room for error
But to be genuinely honest can you imagine how many thoughts and how much adrenaline was just literally going sonic speed through him right now. Imagine your in a situation like what sonic is in (say running from an angry mob or a very pissed of moose) where the only thing you can possibly do at that singular moment is just run your motherfucking heart out and even that isn’t a guaranteed to make you survive it’s as if your body goes into an extremely frantic amd pants coed autopilot and you just run run run until your truly safe from the problem where all your thinking is “DONT LOOK BACK JUST KEEP RUNNING DAMMIT!!”

He escaped a collapsing building with levels such as: an entire space station and galaxy, forest, city, dungeon, factory, large ass freezer, The Vietnam war battlegrounds, and much more. Not to mention whilst stopping and getting the bosses, all under 5 minutes. Imagine how big that tower realistically is, and how fast Peppino escaped it.

The main problem is that it's inconsistent. In colors, we have him almost escaping a black hole in base form.
In Lost world he can't save tails from being abducted, despite supposedly being nearly light speed.
In the Archie comics he has incredible speed feats which are reminiscent of DC flash, in IDW comics he is certainly fast but he is always described as Mach 1 top.
Games never really show his maximum speed, the closest thing we got was that infinite is supposedly faster than him but that doesn't really mean anything.
In smash bros, his super form is described as being nearly the speed of light, so logically in base form he is not.
Not to mention the numerous times people actually catch up to him, like the custom character in forces being able to stay next to sonic even in boss battles (although he does get tired unlike the blue blur)

0:26 I love that little attention to detail with sonic breaking the item box without even rolling into a ball. It really adds to the tension in this level with sonic having only his speed to rely on showing us how truly FAST he must be going. I wish a sequence like this existed in the mainline series but the closest thing we have are the Mach speed segments from 06 🙃
That and that one sequence in Sonic colors where he's running from the black hole thing, but that sequence is so short it really was just a taste of what should have been something like this.
I'd be down for a Sonic level having to run away from something like this main line, the boost levels are already pretty optimal for that, just keep the flow but give like breaks and some leniency so it doesn't have to be perfect for a first run, because no one really knows what to expect for a first run.

I calculated the canon speed of Sonic, the time it took for this to end, and the speed of an explosion, and figured out that the "fire" (explosions are expanding fireballs) is MORE THAN A NUKE. roughly 17 seconds for Sonic to get away from a roughly nuke-sized explosion. Sonic running from an explosion going at the speed of sound. MORE THAN 1.5 MIN TO ESCAPE. that is MUCH bigger than a nuke.
IDK, but he could outrun a pretty powerful nuke. I know that some nukes can have fireballs of up to 15KM, and I calculated that this would be like a 50KM radius nuke.@@faresalsayed9005

Even I and probably some haven’t played through the entire hack I can feel Sonic’s raw speed and considering he’s running from a nuclear reactor it really does give of “get the hell out of there” vibes similar in sonic adventure 2 where the entirety to prison island is about to explode and you don’t have a lot of time to spare.
I like to think Sonic could easily run from it no problem but because of the many slopes and other stuff in this he has to be very careful on how he controls his speed as well as pay attention to the environment around him or else he’ll be dead if he’s not careful, mix that with this music of kentenshi’s paranoia and that your rings are constantly depleting due to how many is needed to get away from the fire, it really makes you feel like you have no room for error
