yep, there are a few points correct in your analysis, but at first glance, It was just a way for me to practice some animation with my new model of Sonic (I made). I couldn't really recreate 100% accurately the original game, and it wasn't my intention, I wanted to use some assets I ripped from Sonic Games (such as Chemical Plant zone) and wanted to animate Sonic accordingly to those slopes and test out some stuff, and re-use the original Sonic Boom scenery with lighting and the fire behind. I actually had rings that were supposed to be used, but I literally forgot to enable them in the final render 🥲🥲 But the most important thing here for me is that I really enjoyed making an animation out of this, and I could learn a few more stuff in the process so I take that as an absolute win 😁
I love that Sonic doesn’t look afraid for his life and that he could possibly die in here… He looks more focused on dashing towards the exit. That’s some great character representation!

I love the expressiveness of the eyes! The way they are focused, the way you can see the *run, run, rUN, RUN* thought process behind them, the occasional glances back, the bracing for impact, and most notably, the way they widen at Sonic’s realization/renewed vigour for his friends. There’s a shake to them, and then the pupils dilate, which shows _hope._
I feel like this should have been a concept for a level somewhere in an official game. eggman sets his lair to self destruct and instead of setting it to a timer he does it instantly because he knows a timer would be of no use to sonic's speed. thus forcing sonic to outrun an explosion with his superspeed
I can see a level where Sonic’s lured into the center of one of Eggmans factories and Eggman detonates it remotely making you have to go back through the level you just completed
Its insane that hes able to not only outrun an explosion but also make split second decisions in an instant makes sonic one of the best speedsters out there (If this was archie sonic that explosion wouldnt have bothered chasing him frfr)
unironically we need more modern scenes like this, that's honestly imo what modern sonic lacks that ruins it often. It rarely has scenes that make you both sympathize with sonic AND find him super cool.
The games are pretty inconsistent with showcasing his speed, especially when we all know he is stupid fast. He’s not flash fast sure but still pretty dang fast

I feel like ever since Generations,the set pieces for stages have been lacking. Like, you literally have the G.U.N. truck tearing up the street in Classic Sonic's City escape mid-stage, you have Sonic running down the skyscraper in Modern Speed Highway and running *up* the clocktower in Modern Rooftop run. Even in Unleashed, (even if this stage is a nightmare) in Arid Sand you still see cool stuff like Sonic rail grinding over canyons, you having Sonic running across the ocean from island to island in Jungle Joyride, and literally the whole of Cool Edge. but then you get to the cyberspace levels in Frontiers and like...the backgrounds are cool? I guess?
i love how it goes from a scary, edge of seat escape scene immediately to a "yippie you did it! here's a gold star!" at the end with the "sonic escaped act 3" part.
I love how *focused* sonic looks. He knows this is no time for his average messing around - if there was ever a time to go full speed, it has to be NOW. He has to outrun a literal explosion for his and everyone’s sakes. And if he is indeed outrunning an explosion, that means this took place in probably a second or two max. Good shit.

And it's even scarier cause a part of the level, even if you take all the fastest paths and run non stop, the fire still engulfs sonic for a hot second or two...
I love the confidence in Sonic’s eyes and not once did it falter. Without any words, it showed the extreme dire situation he was in and the determination to get out of there alive. Even when backed into a corner, he calmly and quickly found a new route to escape from (the stairs) and continued onward. I especially loved hearing the build up of his speed increase, as a representation that he can take it even further and showing us that blazing fire is no match for our Blue Blur. I wished we got this in the modern Sonic games. This is the very first time I felt so anxious watching Sonic run away from danger. I knew he could do it but there was still a bit of despair resonating inside me. Once he made it out a sigh of relief left my body lol. I want this feeling in the games! Sonic was definitely cool here! 🙏🏾🔥
I wouldn't say it never falters. When the flames cut him off and tripped him into the air, he squeezed his eyes shut with a pained expression. The realization that he might not make it to the exit was setting in, ans so his life quite litterally flashed before his eyes. *_But_* that also reminded him that he too much to live for, and his eyes shot open with renewed vigor. Sonic is is strong willed, be even knows he's not invincible.

i freaking love when people animate horizontal-mach-speed animations. I think it's a huge part of why Super Mario Bros Z or SFM Friendly Competition got so insanely popular back in the 2010's not to mention the wonderful camera direction that really elevates the intensity of all this

The thing that makes this so cool is that sonic isn't outrunning a fire or anything, HE'S TRYING TO OUTRUN A NUCLEAR EXPLOSION, sonic can run at like mach 30 or something, so it sucks that that isn't represented like this in official sonic media.
This animation was insane! Wow! It totally blew my mind!🔥 At first I thought Sonic couldn't make it to the door cuz it was still locked shut until it opens as he reaches after thinking of his friends before continuing to escape from hell. That is just incredible!
at 0:37 sonic runs past a ladder and runs back to it, he is running from a nuclear explosion, it took him about 1/2 of a second to go back to the ladder, and a nukes explosion moves at 784 mph. so this hedgehog had the spare time to RUN PAST HE'S MEANS OF ESCAPE, REALIZE IT, AND THEN RUN BACK TO IT, this damn hedgehog could get a drink from a vending machine waiting for a bullet to hit him
just wanna add that if you slow the video down to 0.5x, you can hear the sound sonic makes when hes running fast and then stops. It didn't even have to be there but the animator really added it just because he could and I'm sure most people never realised it
I really wish we got to see Sonic on the ropes and on the back foot more often in games and stories. We rarely ever see Sonic pushed to his limits far enough to the point where it feels like he might actually lose the battle or God forbid his life. We've certainly seen glimpses of something like this in games like Sonic Adventures 1 and 2 as well as the storybook games and such. But rarely do we ever see Sonic in dire situations he can't possibly fix. It's only in the IDW comics and tye Recent Sonic Frontiers do we see Sonic in a more vulnerable and exposed state. I for one would like to someday see a sequence in a Sonic game that plays out in a similar manner to this animation. Where Sonic ponders if he will ever see his friend again while trying to escape captivity and running from a death trap.
sonic colors kind of had him in a dire situation. It had him running away from a blackhole and even he couldn't out run it, but even still him running away from it for seconds is mind boggling.
Everything about this animation is amazing. Angles, music, atmosphere, the expressions. You did something the current sonic team couldn't dream of releasing. This is one of my favorite sonic fanmade animations and Ive been watching it at least a couple times a day for months now. Please make more just like this 🔥🔥
the closest theyve done (for a finale) is Terminal Velocity in Sonic Colors, probs one of my favorite ending sequence lol~ outrunning a damn black hole
I love how fast Sonic moves his arms when building up speed. It normally starts like that in the sonic games, but it starts slowly, in this animation Sonic has to build up a lot of speed in practically no time, so his arms move much quicker to do that before going into his normal sonic run (with his arms extended backwards)
That moment when you realize that this wasn’t a wild fire but instead the death egg exploding in an instant and this entire segment of Sonic running takes place in like a few seconds at most.
Absolutely phenomenal animation. I can imagine how sonic must've felt when he was running for his life, he wasnt messing around cuz he knows if he did he probably wouldve met his demise. Even worse knowing he's not running from a fire, hes running from an explosion. I love when these kinds of animations happen, putting sonic up to his limits and show what he really is capable of, being able to outrun death itself.
I love the way he’s not running with his hands behind his back until only when he’s focused on really going fast. He toggles between running more so his sonic heroes animation when he’s not fully locked in and his later gen gaming title releases with his hands behind his back when he’s really locked in. Impressive attention to detail there. [Edit Side note:] I also want to appreciate the the tone display here being shown in this animation. To some it’s just an epic scene of Sonic running fast in a desperate manner, but to Sonic himself it’s more so the realization and fear that much like all of his adventures it’s never too certain which one will be his last. To us he’s a hero from the comics, a star from the movies, and a nostalgia from the games. But putting ourselves into the characters shoes directly we’re excited yet scared that the next adventure could very well be our last. That’s why I love how at the end he realized how much he could lose if he didn’t make it out alive with those flashbacks he had. Makes it all the more reassuring whenever we the players see that “Act Cleared” on the results screen. ❤
Superb! One thing I really love with this animation is how well you convey Sonic's speed with the rapid movement of his legs with the smooth animation. He's going very fast, thus his legs are moving very fast. Kudos to the beautiful lighting, adds the the tension with how dangerously close the fire is to Sonic throughout the act.
Sonic's feet have gone much faster to the point that it'd either appear as a wheel or an 8 figure. The choice to make Sonic's feet take rhythmic yet solid footsteps makes this all the more impactful and suspenseful. Going off of noise alone, you'd think he's not going fast enough to beat the flames but each leg must reach ahead of the other to get him out of there.
This is an absolutely gorgeous animation! Smooth and clean, and every aspect of it is just amazing. You've earned yourself another subscriber, keep up the good work!
Goddamn, this was amazing!!!!! I think the only thing that could have made this better was if he spin dashed to break through that door at 1:00. Like he would have saw the door locked shut and thought he was actually going to die, but the memories of all of his friends waiting for him back home would have given him the strength to blast through it!!!

I wish we’d gotten an epic recreation of this in Frontiers for a final level. As we had to maneuver through the blazing flames that threaten to burn Sonic to a crisp and run through the exploding ship like in Sonic Forces on Eggman’s Base. I can also see this being a one change, one shot type level at the end of the game that you’d to use all the skills you’ve learned and wouldn’t be able to stop for nothing. Just keeping running. Because if you get stuck or get slown down by an enemy, there’s no help for you. Would’ve been cool. Also I wouldn’t have a problem if they used the song in the cutscene either as it captures that sort of “this is your one shot that’ll change everything forever” feeling. Like animations like this.

This is so, so, so, sooo well animated. The attention to detail with Sonic's velocity swaying against his mass (and the natural movement of limbs) as he changes direction sells the realness. You give so much personality to every movement, with split-second adjustments; not wasting any momentum, but not at all robotic or uncanny looking. With how often the hedgehog is shown running around at the speed of sound, it's surprisingly rare (if ever) that we get to see him move with a sense of urgency. This nails it. I appreciate the bouncy spindashing, too. And accounting for different running poses as he accelerates, from pumping arms to the naruto sprint. And everything's smooth. Like, you did not have to animate the individual fingers at 0:45, but you did, and the subliminal details come together like damn. I didn't expect this level of fidelity when I clicked haha meme thumbnail. Very cool, thank you LucasRPDJ.
Dude you are amazing for making this I love how instead of sonic just running to the right and jumping a couple times you decided to make sonic take higher up pathways and really emphasized how fast he was going to escape the fire! I find this ending sequence so intense with this song it puts me to tears every time. Contemporary Sonic games need this! Actual drama, actual intensity, stakes. His determination, when he closes his eyes with a flashback, the fact he's running from man's-made most devastating thing thus far (nuclear explosions)… Absolute goddamn cinema. Worth every tear I've shed watching and rewatching.

A perfect representation of what is run from danger. Insane animation and hope sega will be inspired by that for make serious levels like this. My only regret is I know it's a meme for longtime and based on the Sonic Boom rom hack power plant act 3 but seriously I prefer the Hi-max theme for Megaman X6 than Paranoia but it's just a personnal preference.

The game should be Sonic Mania, At the end sonic and friends escape an explosion with a car from the level they were at.

the fact sonic keeps calm but thought to give up but remembered the chao’s and the flickys makes this so much better

I love the confidence in Sonic’s eyes and not once did it falter. Without any words, it showed the extreme dire situation he was in and the determination to get out of there alive. Even when backed into a corner, he calmly and quickly found a new route to escape from (the stairs) and continued onward. I especially loved hearing the build up of his speed increase, as a representation that he can take it even further and showing us that blazing fire is no match for our Blue Blur. I wished we got this in the modern Sonic games. This is the very first time I felt so anxious watching Sonic run away from danger. I knew he could do it but there was still a bit of despair resonating inside me. Once he made it out a sigh of relief left my body lol. I want this feeling in the games! Sonic was definitely cool here! 🙏🏾🔥
I wouldn't say it never falters. When the flames cut him off and tripped him into the air, he squeezed his eyes shut with a pained expression. The realization that he might not make it to the exit was setting in, ans so his life quite litterally flashed before his eyes. *_But_* that also reminded him that he too much to live for, and his eyes shot open with renewed vigor.
Sonic is is strong willed, be even knows he's not invincible.

i freaking love when people animate horizontal-mach-speed animations. I think it's a huge part of why Super Mario Bros Z or SFM Friendly Competition got so insanely popular back in the 2010's

The thing that makes this so cool is that sonic isn't outrunning a fire or anything, HE'S TRYING TO OUTRUN A NUCLEAR EXPLOSION, sonic can run at like mach 30 or something, so it sucks that that isn't represented like this in official sonic media.

At first I thought Sonic couldn't make it to the door cuz it was still locked shut until it opens as he reaches after thinking of his friends before continuing to escape from hell. That is just incredible!
at 0:37 sonic runs past a ladder and runs back to it, he is running from a nuclear explosion, it took him about 1/2 of a second to go back to the ladder, and a nukes explosion moves at 784 mph. so this hedgehog had the spare time to RUN PAST HE'S MEANS OF ESCAPE, REALIZE IT, AND THEN RUN BACK TO IT, this damn hedgehog could get a drink from a vending machine waiting for a bullet to hit him

just wanna add that if you slow the video down to 0.5x, you can hear the sound sonic makes when hes running fast and then stops. It didn't even have to be there but the animator really added it just because he could and I'm sure most people never realised it

I really wish we got to see Sonic on the ropes and on the back foot more often in games and stories.
We rarely ever see Sonic pushed to his limits far enough to the point where it feels like he might actually lose the battle or God forbid his life. We've certainly seen glimpses of something like this in games like Sonic Adventures 1 and 2 as well as the storybook games and such. But rarely do we ever see Sonic in dire situations he can't possibly fix.
It's only in the IDW comics and tye Recent Sonic Frontiers do we see Sonic in a more vulnerable and exposed state. I for one would like to someday see a sequence in a Sonic game that plays out in a similar manner to this animation. Where Sonic ponders if he will ever see his friend again while trying to escape captivity and running from a death trap.

Sonic prime's whole plot is for sonic to be everyone's doormat so there's that
sonic colors kind of had him in a dire situation. It had him running away from a blackhole and even he couldn't out run it, but even still him running away from it for seconds is mind boggling.

Everything about this animation is amazing. Angles, music, atmosphere, the expressions. You did something the current sonic team couldn't dream of releasing. This is one of my favorite sonic fanmade animations and Ive been watching it at least a couple times a day for months now. Please make more just like this 🔥🔥

Dude I know this is basically just a meme remake but the energy here is ASTOUNDING. Exactly what I wish Sonic Team was doing with cutscenes nowadays.
Sonic Colors.
I love how fast Sonic moves his arms when building up speed. It normally starts like that in the sonic games, but it starts slowly, in this animation Sonic has to build up a lot of speed in practically no time, so his arms move much quicker to do that before going into his normal sonic run (with his arms extended backwards)
THE FLASH BACK BEFORE THE END WAS SO GOOD OH MY GOSH IT’S PEAKKKKKKKK😭😭😭😭😭😭
That moment when you realize that this wasn’t a wild fire but instead the death egg exploding in an instant and this entire segment of Sonic running takes place in like a few seconds at most.
Absolutely phenomenal animation.
I can imagine how sonic must've felt when he was running for his life, he wasnt messing around cuz he knows if he did he probably wouldve met his demise.
Even worse knowing he's not running from a fire, hes running from an explosion.
I love when these kinds of animations happen, putting sonic up to his limits and show what he really is capable of, being able to outrun death itself.
I love the way he’s not running with his hands behind his back until only when he’s focused on really going fast. He toggles between running more so his sonic heroes animation when he’s not fully locked in and his later gen gaming title releases with his hands behind his back when he’s really locked in. Impressive attention to detail there.
[Edit Side note:] I also want to appreciate the the tone display here being shown in this animation. To some it’s just an epic scene of Sonic running fast in a desperate manner, but to Sonic himself it’s more so the realization and fear that much like all of his adventures it’s never too certain which one will be his last. To us he’s a hero from the comics, a star from the movies, and a nostalgia from the games. But putting ourselves into the characters shoes directly we’re excited yet scared that the next adventure could very well be our last.
That’s why I love how at the end he realized how much he could lose if he didn’t make it out alive with those flashbacks he had. Makes it all the more reassuring whenever we the players see that “Act Cleared” on the results screen. ❤

One thing I really love with this animation is how well you convey Sonic's speed with the rapid movement of his legs with the smooth animation. He's going very fast, thus his legs are moving very fast.
Kudos to the beautiful lighting, adds the the tension with how dangerously close the fire is to Sonic throughout the act.
Sonic's feet have gone much faster to the point that it'd either appear as a wheel or an 8 figure. The choice to make Sonic's feet take rhythmic yet solid footsteps makes this all the more impactful and suspenseful. Going off of noise alone, you'd think he's not going fast enough to beat the flames but each leg must reach ahead of the other to get him out of there.

Goddamn, this was amazing!!!!! I think the only thing that could have made this better was if he spin dashed to break through that door at 1:00. Like he would have saw the door locked shut and thought he was actually going to die, but the memories of all of his friends waiting for him back home would have given him the strength to blast through it!!!

I wish we’d gotten an epic recreation of this in Frontiers for a final level. As we had to maneuver through the blazing flames that threaten to burn Sonic to a crisp and run through the exploding ship like in Sonic Forces on Eggman’s Base. I can also see this being a one change, one shot type level at the end of the game that you’d to use all the skills you’ve learned and wouldn’t be able to stop for nothing. Just keeping running. Because if you get stuck or get slown down by an enemy, there’s no help for you. Would’ve been cool. Also I wouldn’t have a problem if they used the song in the cutscene either as it captures that sort of “this is your one shot that’ll change everything forever” feeling. Like animations like this.

This is so, so, so, sooo well animated. The attention to detail with Sonic's velocity swaying against his mass (and the natural movement of limbs) as he changes direction sells the realness. You give so much personality to every movement, with split-second adjustments; not wasting any momentum, but not at all robotic or uncanny looking. With how often the hedgehog is shown running around at the speed of sound, it's surprisingly rare (if ever) that we get to see him move with a sense of urgency. This nails it.
I appreciate the bouncy spindashing, too. And accounting for different running poses as he accelerates, from pumping arms to the naruto sprint. And everything's smooth. Like, you did not have to animate the individual fingers at 0:45, but you did, and the subliminal details come together like damn.

Dude you are amazing for making this I love how instead of sonic just running to the right and jumping a couple times you decided to make sonic take higher up pathways and really emphasized how fast he was going to escape the fire! I find this ending sequence so intense with this song it puts me to tears every time. Contemporary Sonic games need this! Actual drama, actual intensity, stakes. His determination, when he closes his eyes with a flashback, the fact he's running from man's-made most devastating thing thus far (nuclear explosions)… Absolute goddamn cinema. Worth every tear I've shed watching and rewatching.

Some of Sonic's movements could be a bit smoother but the cinematography is incredible. Really captures the speed and intensity of some of the best cutscenes.

A perfect representation of what is run from danger. Insane animation and hope sega will be inspired by that for make serious levels like this. My only regret is I know it's a meme for longtime and based on the Sonic Boom rom hack power plant act 3 but seriously I prefer the Hi-max theme for Megaman X6 than Paranoia but it's just a personnal preference.
