If raz had made it into smash bros, it would have been cool for clairvoyance to be a taunt where his apprarance changes for a second depending on who the other characters in the level are I.E. mario sees a goomba, bowser sees a plumber, link sees a lizalfos, ganon sees a green tuniced hero, kirby sees food, etc, all illustrated with the red goggles
Mario: Goomba Link: Tingle DK: Banana Samus: Metroid Fox: Slippy Capt Falcon: A Mini version of himself Yoshi: Melon Luigi: A Boo Pikachu: a Pokémon trainer Jigglypuff: Nurse Joy
@Geomaster97 I like the idea but I don't think link would see raz as tingle, link doesn't see tingle as an enemy. If anything most of the projections would probably all be things the other characters think they could defeat easily. Goomba makes sense for Mario, banana for DK, but for link it would probably be a bokoblin with goggles. Same for fox, slippy is his friend, I could see them making raz look like an enemy ship or a portrait of raz wearing a star fighter helmet with the "evil eyes" like how a alot of the bad guys would look when their communication portraits would pop up. I think Pikachu would probably see raz as a pokeball with goggles, since the pikachu from both the anime and the canon games hates being in his pokeball. Jigglypuff would probably see him as a sleeping version of himself, since he(she?) hates when people sleep during it's performance. Boo makes sense for Luigi, but he might also see raz as a sort of knock off waluigi, since waluigi is the one thing that Luigi is not frightened or intimidated by, or it could be funny if Luigi saw him as even more intimidating than he actually is, like how a lot of the mice and squirrels see raz in his own game, as a rabid sharp toothed and mouth-bloodied psychopath. I do think it would also be cool if some characters saw him as an equal so it would give them a chance to just have raz in different styles, like the mii fighters could just see raz as a mii, same with characters that don't really have antagonists in their games, like the AC villager could see him as another villager, or as a raccoon or a gyroid maybe.

There's a pretty subtle hint at Spoilers . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Lili's dad's true identity when you use clairvoyance on him in his room. I thought it was weird that he saw Raz as like a cool wanderer or whatever but it was actually Nick seeing him as a peasant from Grulovia.
I like how you barely ever use this ability for anything in either game, yet it has some of the best and most subtle world building if you go out of your way to use it on every character by explaining why they treat Raz a certain way (Norma seeing you as a mole then later a Psychonaut in post-game, the interns initially seeing you as the stupid kid they pranked, then as someone they consider cool after saving them, etc.). Clairvoyance has always been my favorite power since the first game even though it doesn't have any practical use. I wish more games would have something like it.
I like the idea of these perceptions of Raz also being somewhat of a reflection on their own self-perception. Like Raz is both a mirror and stained glass, projecting people's self image onto them filtered through his own identity. I think people do that in real life a lot, without ever realizing it.

The fact that it was Jack Black's character who sees you as Eddie is an extra layer of coolness to the reference
DECAPITATIOOOOOOON
FACE MELTEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRR!
Yeah, it makes me want ot replay the game again.
Also might be a reference to Eddie's role, since you basically played the role of a roadie.
Rasputin Aquato is 60% talent and 40% drive, it makes sense he'd earn himself some respect around Whispering Rock and the Motherlobe. Shame his older siblings don't respect him but that will take time... As for Mama Aquato, she'll always see him and his siblings as her babies, that's a parent mentality and it's not easy to shake...
I love how Sam's version of Raz never really changes
The clairvoyance was one of my favorite features in the original game, every character had a different view of Raz and it explained the way they interacted with him. So happy they kept that for this one.
I'm really happy Raz told Norma off
I think anyone would playing the game so far she kind of seems like a no-it-all and a bit of a jerk
@@mattkugelman4369 but i gotta admit her team up attack was pretty fire
I like how the clone just sees you as a clone
"Me Spongebob, you doodle!"
When you speak to him, he might say something like "Cute. The clone thinks it's the real one."
✨ ThE PapeR ParadoX 🙃
There's something interesting that I think you missed. If you use Clairvoyance on Lili after you show her the file you found during the casino mission, but before you talk to her, she sees Raz as an overbearing court judge, which fits with how she's afraid and feels guilty about what happened to Truman. Nicely enough, though, once you talk to her a bit and reassure her, Lili goes back to seeing Raz normally. Such an amazing small detail, I think.
Donna seeing Raz as her baby is too cute
Who? Oh is that his moms name?
@@atlas_vash It's Donnatella but I call her Donna for short
That was milla's vision in the 1 game
when i saw anyone else seeing raz as a baby i went "yeah sure. dickhead"
then she came and i went "aww"
You’re always still her baby to your mom.
Fun fact:
Helmut's view of Raz in clairvoyance is based on Eddie Riggs, the character Jack Black (Helmut's VA) played in another double fine game (BRÜTAL LEGEND)
Sasha seeing Raz as a smaller version of himself may be one of my absolute favorite parts of this whole masterpiece of a game
I like how the bad moods see you as a therapist.
Ouch. Dion sees Raz as a target. Guess we know we he was so nonchalant about being shoved in a closet...
Not just any target. A punching bag.
kinda concerned because he never even apologized, not even after you’ve finished the game
edit* yknow the stuff he’s said if you did his quest
@@appojuce1286 yeah I hate dion & Norma & I kinda expected that to change w/ a dion by the end but nothing, also adam & especially mirtala had absolutely nothing to do, mirtala should've had a sidequest like quipie did
@@AJRodz
yeah i wish each “special” character (intern or an aquato) had at least 1 or 2 quest each
Yeah but when you talk to him first you can see regret in his eyes i think deep down he was heartbroken by Raz dissapearence too its his little Brother after all
Raz mind is so strong he can see people in 3D
Truman and Lili both have interesting views of Raz
Truman being like
"So, this is my daughter's boyfriend"
And Lili has the whole
"He's handsome"
So Raz Archetype sees Raz as Raz Archetype. Explains a lot.
WHY DOES OTTO SEE RAZ AS JUST A BRAIN IN A JAR I AM CONCERNED!
Going by his comment when you find the Hall of Brains, everyone in the Psychonauts is going to wind up as a brain in a jar after they die. (they should have read those NDAs more closely!)
shoulda read the fine print!
@@Megadoomer3 yeah. At least that's less concerning than Oleander's reason for seeing Raz as a brain in the first game.
It helps ottos set up as the red herring villian. Hes the only one of the six not traumatized and he introduced ford to lucy and the brain thing. It sets him up as the obvious villian when hes really just coping better.
Or theirs a psychonauts 3 and we find out ottos dead inside
OH MY GOD, I NEVER REALIZED THE BRAIN THING COULD'VE BEEN A RED HERRING FOR PLAYERS OF THE FIRST GAME!
If raz had made it into smash bros, it would have been cool for clairvoyance to be a taunt where his apprarance changes for a second depending on who the other characters in the level are
I.E. mario sees a goomba, bowser sees a plumber, link sees a lizalfos, ganon sees a green tuniced hero, kirby sees food, etc, all illustrated with the red goggles
Mario: Goomba
Link: Tingle
DK: Banana
Samus: Metroid
Fox: Slippy
Capt Falcon: A Mini version of himself
Yoshi: Melon
Luigi: A Boo
Pikachu: a Pokémon trainer
Jigglypuff: Nurse Joy
@Geomaster97
I like the idea but I don't think link would see raz as tingle, link doesn't see tingle as an enemy.
@AMECHlKl too be fair not everyone in his home series sees Raz as an enemy and the same could be applied here Fox sees him as Slippy be cause to fox Raz reminds him of Slippy link sees him as Tingle because tingle is a short little goofball
@@Geomaster97 Capt Falcon seeing raz as aa mini him honestly does fit whit the capt's personality and now i just imganie him picking up raz and going this is my son now
love that everyone see him as a freak despite being the only normal looking person in the game
I swear Raz looks so freaking cute in this style and I love it so much. My favorite is definitely how Sasha seems him.
I've just finished the game, gone back and got all the memory vaults, and now I have psychonauts blue-balls - I might have to go back and replay psychonauts 1. I hope it's not another 20 years until the next psychonauts game.
Maligula sees you as a roach btw.
edit: at least the one from psi kings mind does.
I believe the one from the final battle sees you as one of the peaceful protestors
@@neoman4426 Iirc, she sees you as a protesting roach
Sometimes when you cv Nona she sees you as Dion and sometimes as Queepie, which I thought was a great detail because she can never remember which grandson you are.
Makes sense... Clairvoyance was fun to use in the first game, so it makes sense that they bring it back here (including "Rombis of Ruin" where it was pretty much nothing but). I had a lot of fun with it in the milkman conspiracy level (though it was fun to use it on others too).
I am the milk man my milk is delicious
3:42 OH MY GOD!!! Helmut sees Raz as eddie riggs from brutal legend! another double fine game that jack black voices, thats so COOL! i love that
For some reason I find the fact that the little teleport friend sees Raz as a package to be hilariously adorable.
Never would've thought to use it on the mental projection. Love how it sees you as the projection instead.
1:58 damn, raz became a tf2 dispenser
Need a psychonaut here!
The effort that went into this is crazy! I hardly used clairvoyance but the developers designed each one of these things. I love the care that was put into this game, I might buy it for my sister who played the first if she doesn't buy it for herself soon
4:23 Well I guess Truman knows about Raz and Lili
That's right and because of how he sees Raz he accepts his relationship, since he sees him as a boyfriend who is going to pass for his daughter to go on a date
4:48 Why am I getting the feeling that Otto is gonna go Coach Oleander on Raz in the future?
Someone answered this in another comment, apparently at some point in the game Otto mentions that all Psychonaut agents become brains in jars when they die. I guess Otto has seen it happen enough times to just see people as that by default.
OMG " go coach oleander"
WH-WHY DO I FIND THAT SO FUNNY? I
Therapist: Jack Black Raz doesn't exist, it cannot hurt you
Jack Black Raz: 3:41
I like how coach sees raz
Forsight too
He really respects him and i would too if a 10 year old was fixing my life long traumas
He sees him the same way in 1 too
@@MidgarMerc Nah he only sees Raz as another brain to place in one of his death tanks during the first game. We can't CV him before his trauma is healed.
@@onlyacomentarynothingspeci2419 yeah
It’s so nice to see that Double Fine still acknowledge the existence of Brütal Legend. It hurts that we’ll never get a sequel
There's also an extra one with Lili, after you have the little spat with her in Trumans office if you use Clairvoyance on her before you reconcile she see's Raz dressed up like an angry judge.
I literally love that raz’s archetype sees raz as a slightly more detailed version of the archetype.
Raz Archetype is how Raz would draw himself. Raz Archetype’s clairvoyance of Raz is how Raz Archetype would draw Raz. Which is crazy considering Raz Archetype is a metaphorical brain slice.
How is a piece of you better at art than you are
Did anyone else notice that the post-game 'they see Raz as a respectable agent' image wears the exact same outfit Ford Cruller does? So it's really more like they're seeing him as a young Ford Cruller, which is both fair and a fantastic compliment.
The little black and white Raz archetype is so cute!
The vision of Lili is very cute. She sees him as an handsome man.
And he also sees Raz for what he really is, a cute, kind, sweet, brave, noble and trustworthy boy, in short his boyfriend 😁
I just like how they included this in the first and second games. They didn’t have to put something like this in, but they did it anyway, because why not?
3:03 Raz is a little tea pot, tall and white.
There is his handle though Clairvoyance sight.
When he gets all steamed up, censors go OUCH!
Don't tip him over, for he will send you far worse then a psychiatrist's couch.
This is such an underrated comment
Counterpoint:
Jarhead.
@@acedianPianist, Uno Reverso, BACON!

Interestingly enough you can figure out who the mole is pretty early on by using clairvoyance.
1:41 RRAAAWR! I AM A MOUTH! FEED ME! 5:39 Guess Sasha's vision on Raz didn't change.
5:52 Milla used to see Raz as a baby. Now, she sees him like a disco dude like her mind did.
6:35 Human are rabbid beings, the rabbit thought. 10:18 WHY IT IS ADORABLE?!
Raz becomes shaggadelic, baby (i feel dirty for even making a austin powers reference)
Even if it's been canonically a couple days, he still sees himself in Raz. So nice.
@@vulpez650 lol by Psychonauts 4 Raz will become Head of the Psychonauts after only going to Camp weeks ago
P.S. In all honesty I actually want a Quadrilogy where in 3 Raz goes from Junior Psychonaut to Psychonaut, 4 Psychonaut to Master Psychonaut, & then a DLC where he becomes Head of Psychonauts
Seeing his whole journey & him having a family with Lily seeing what their kids would look like & photo of all the Psychonauts/ Aquatos/ Other Characters we know together would be cool
Sad to say, you missed a character. Queepie, the youngest brother. He is in the tree house post-game listening to the pirate radio.
Queepie just sees him as a ringleader same as the younger sister
Though he's only there once you've finished the optional mission to find him six times for somewhat obvious reasons, he'll be somewhere in the QA if you haven't.
Some of these are vague references but it took me like a minute to realize the person who servers food sees Raz as another mouth.
I love that milla has raz in one of austin powers outfit
If you CV the Psy King in Nick's body before finishing his level, you get a technicolor smorgasbord.
You can also do it with Psi-King any time during his level, as well.
I got a big, stupid grin when I saw that some of the official psychonauts saw raz as one of them
Realizing it was Jack Black's voice was a neat little moment. "Though it did take a sec".
There's a pretty subtle hint at Spoilers

1:47 only happens if you hit Harold before. If you never hit him, he sees you as friendly.
Someone else has probally said this, but I was expecting Dr. Lobboto to view Raz the same way he did in his secong memory vault.
3:17 "That's cute, my clone thinks he's real." -Raz's clone
I like the idea of these perceptions of Raz also being somewhat of a reflection on their own self-perception. Like Raz is both a mirror and stained glass, projecting people's self image onto them filtered through his own identity. I think people do that in real life a lot, without ever realizing it.
Fun fact raz is voiced by zim's voice actor and his clone is voiced by gir's
It’s the same VA lol
As well as he voices Billy from The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy
@@Dzuno18 it is so crazy to me that I'm only just now finding out that he's the same voice as Billy. I only recognized him from Zim and helluva boss as Moxxie. I feel a fool...
The enemies actually have Clairvoyance versions as well-
Censors see Raz as a germ, with the heavy ones seeing him as a bug
Bad Ideas see him as a empty lightsocket
Enablers see him as a road block
Judges see him as a criminal
and Bad moods see him as a therapist.
I sadly can't recall/ I couldn't get clairvoyance of regrets, doubts, or panic attacks.
I find it humorous that Helmut Fullbear, voiced by Jack Black, sees Raz as a characture of Jack Black.
Milla used to see Raz as a baby in the first game, now he is a bit more grown up but just mixed in with her fashion sense and lifestyle.
0:53 t-that dude called me a possum... I-i am NOT a possum!
No matter where you are in the story, even in the first game, Ford already saw Raz as a Psychonaut, he knew you were ready, it's kinda sweet if you don't acknowledge the everything that might lead Ford to have that idea
You should do Post-Game Talks. I'm curious to see how they react to this situation Post-Game
Great idea! We're working on it.
Edit: it's up!

The chat between raz and his father almost made me tear up a little, it's so sweet.
oh my stars, I’ve been waiting for someone to make this video! thank you so much! :D
I wonder if it would be scary using clairovoyance on someone only to find they see Raz exactly the way the player does
The den mother from the milkman conspiracy actually sees raz as his normal self.
i know that in the first game, in the milkman conspiracy level the flamingos in some of the backyards of the houses dont see raz as anything different. also the other comment too i guess
I never realized that Ford sees Raz as a true agent at the end of the game. Raz must have must have been so happy on seeing that the guy he looks up to views him as an equal.
This is the sort of content that makes series like Psychonauts a treasure.
It’s AMAZING that double fine put in the effort to do this.

Man i love how there's just a power in this game that its mayor function is to see silly drawings and doesn't add much to fights and stuff
And also how some of the ways characters view Raz as tell a lot about them and they also look really cute
