    the “can i try” is such a huge sign of respect. he knows his way is better but never forces her to accept his help. wish some people would understand this, as their definition of better doesn’t always work for other people.

    What a chill boss. She recognizes him for his hard work, is considerate with how much she asks him to do, and apologizes when she's proven wrong. Bosses like this make the workplace not only bearable, but makes you actually want to try and be good at your job.

      Such bosses are not rare! Just 2 weeks ago I was flying to London on an early flight and my boss said he would take me to the airport at 3:30 in the morning! My estimation of my boss was already high, but this blew it out of the park!!

    If I retire, I might do something like this. It is actually something that other companies are offering more and more. It keeps active seniors being active and passing their experience on to a younger generation. I'll bet his character does not need the money, but needs the feeling of belonging to something better than sitting at home all day and wasting away.

      You nailed it. I LOVE this movie and DeNiro plays his role to a T. He's happily retired, living comfortably, he has grown up children who he loves and who have lives of their own now and his wife is recently passed away. He doesn't need the money, he needs the sense of drive, belonging and routine he once had when he was a career man.

      And if it gets to be commonplace, it will impose even more impossible expectations on young people who just finished school. If you can get an intern with 50 years of experience you will choose them instead of someone with zero. Internship is supposed to get you enough experience for an entry level job. And already the requirements for that include more years of experience than physically possible for a freshly graduated person. You really want to make it worse? How will people start a life and families if they can't even get an internship because every job is filled with experienced old people who already raised a family and now they're just bored and just need something to do? It's unfortunate that some people have to work past retirement because money is too tight otherwise but don't make it a desirable thing.

    Actually a really great example of a boss and employee. He recognizes where efficiencies can be found and speaks up for himself respectfully and the boss remains grateful, respectful, and willing to concede that another human being may know more than them about some things

The culture is garbage for any sort of management because (at least in Western settings) the mentality has shifted to being extremely selfish with a complete disregard for authority. That being said, authority being demanded through 'bossing' people around is not productive or conducive to building a thriving relationship with employees.

    This is actually one of my all time favorite movies. Before, I never imagined how well Robert de Niro and Anne Hathaway’s performance as a leading duo would work out, but now, I can watch with a smile on my dial.

    Honestly? This is my favorite role from Robert DeNiro. I love a mean looking tough guy as much as the next, but there's a tenderness in his acting here that is such a pleasant departure from his norm. I love it!

    I remember the creator of this movie said she usually did romcoms about older couples to a highly successful degree
    But she wanted to experiment and make a movie about a friendship still involving a older person
    It hella paid off
    This movie is fantastic and severely underlooked.

    The best thing about this is that they’re not set for romance. He is just a different person she’s used to and surrogate father of sorts and it’s so nice to see.
