    Im not a cosplayer..just a comic geek. But this is awsome. You did good on this build. I like your helmet disighn alot. It looks cool with the vents...but also more comfortable cause it should breath at least some. Other helmets look like youd die in them.

    Would it be possible to use your template and just not cut out the cheek and temple areas in order to make a full helmet? I love your helmet design for Cosplay just don't need the meshed areas.

    • @CaptainCosplay
      @CaptainCosplay  6 лет назад +1

      Yes, but you’ll need to fashion pattern pieces to fit those holes: the pattern is made to have those spaces. You should be able to do that fairly easily by tracing the spaces between the patterns pieces.

  • @carlosmelendez8317

    This is a great template and easy build. I did also mess up and completely built my helmet (which looks great) and it's a little too tight! I am now unable to wear the eye mask under the helmet because it is too snug. I hate to have to buy material all over again. Anyone have any suggestions?

  • @nipaigrat

    Is that a functional air soft helmet or you’ll be wearing some protective glasses underneath?

    • @CaptainCosplay
      @CaptainCosplay  4 года назад +1

      I have a pair of protective glasses to go underneath it. The helmet itself would not be trustworthy as a protective device.

    This design is amazing. I plan on buying it. Just one doubt. It says on your etsy store that its for a 24 inch head. Is that measured from the forehead to the back?

    Do you need red foam or can you have black and cover it with red?

    • @CaptainCosplay
      @CaptainCosplay  4 года назад

      You’d have a hard time covering black foam with red plastidip alone, but if you use red paint, any color of foam or plastidip would be fine.

    Would you say you need to use both Kwik Seal and acrylic paint, or did you only use the acrylic because the Kwik Seal didn't do the job?

    • @CaptainCosplay
      @CaptainCosplay  5 лет назад

      I used the acrylic paint because the kwik seal was too white, and was showing through the plastidip.

    • @mudkipzuzu
      @mudkipzuzu 5 лет назад

      @@CaptainCosplay So the paint effectively covered the kwik seal?

    Captain Cosplay Does the template include instructions, material list, and does the template have instructions for proper head sizing?

    • @CaptainCosplay
      @CaptainCosplay  6 лет назад +1

      The video serves as the instructions, and kind of as the materials list. You’ll need red and black craft foam, plastidip in red and black, white spray paint, and silver and black knitting screen. Unfortunately the pattern is one size fits all, but I have a fairly large head (24 inches around). Hopefully it will fit.

    • @carlosmelendez8317
      @carlosmelendez8317 6 лет назад

      How much of each material, where did you find the knitting screen and also my head measures about 23 inches so because the foam is only 5mm thickness do you think it will be loose on my head?

    • @CaptainCosplay
      @CaptainCosplay  6 лет назад

      2 sheets of red foam, one sheet of black foam. The knitting screen is in the knitting aisle at Hobby Lobby, it comes in black and silver (you might be able to find it at Walmart, but I haven’t looked). I don’t think the helmet would be that much looser on your head, but if it is, you should be able to glue a few pieces of foam on the inside to stabilize it.

    • @carlosmelendez8317
      @carlosmelendez8317 6 лет назад +1

      Captain Cosplay thanks for the reply. I appreciate the help. Yes hobby lobby has much of the materials. I'm gonna build this helmet and add updates. Thanks

    Quick question do you have to use plastidip?

    • @CaptainCosplay
      @CaptainCosplay  6 лет назад

      Not necessarily. You can also use Mod Podge or watered down White Glue to seal the foam. But, then you’ll also have to paint it red. I used red Plastidip because it allowed me to kill two birds with one stone.

    Can I do this with cardboard?

    • @CaptainCosplay
      @CaptainCosplay  6 лет назад

      +Tommy Jarvis Yes, but not by following this method or using these templates. Cardboard can only bend in one direction, so you have to shape it a lot more with darts and folds in your pattern pieces.
