I'm 19 and this will be my first apartment on my own and they actually didn't ask for my paystubs! I just put down what I make (I'm not self-employed though) and they accepted it. I started my credit in March of last year and got a credit builder card with Statefarm since I was 18 with no credit, so it's really easy to start building credit! This is probably the reason why my new apartment office they didn't ask for my paystubs because I have great credit, especially for someone so young.
I was able to recently purchase a brand new kitchen table, because of my credit.

You should get into more information about credit, like at what age did you get it? And tips. I've no clue about credit tbh.
Jocelyn credit can vary by age. It's basically whatever the age you are when you have your first line of credit (ex. Credit card, car loan, student loan, etc). Easiest way to start building credit is to apply for a student credit card or one that takes low/no credit people. I got the discover it card and slowly built my credit by paying it off every month. Credit karma is a great app to use!!
Best advice for first card is a secured card.. your bank can give you one, but you create your limit.. so if you want a credit card with a limit of 500 you pay that amount on it.. and after about a year of charging and paying it off they will give you the money back and it turns into a normal credit card.. and never charge over 30% of ur limit... after a year you will start getting offers for credit cards.. look into annual fees, interest and and any secret fees

Love this! I moved into my first apartment a year ago and would have loved to see this when I was moving. I am also self-employed and proving your income is so hard when you're self-employed if you haven't filed taxes yet (I hadn't) so I'm glad you talked about that. Luckily I have excellent credit so I was good to go.

i'm planning on moving out this summer and honestly i lost hope on humanity. the apartments are so ugly and you can't talk to the owners like I'll paint your ugly yellow walls if you take it out of my rent. seriously, 50 uears old communiat furniture, moldy bathrooms... they won't even clean it before they rent it out. and the better looking ones are ridiculous in rent. it doesn't work like in the states where i live. your rent from people not agencies and they don't give a shit what the apartment looks like. take it or leave it.
