@@r.o.b8728 I live in Portugal btw and yes for the last 10 years I've stayed up late until 3/4 am watching hockey especially the teams from Eastern Conference also games usually start here at midnight or 1 am.
To be fair, the Winnipeg Jets (who relocated from Atlanta) also had a quick turnaround time in 2011 but they did have a hockey facility for their minor league (they also had a name and jerseys ready to go day one; there were rumours they were going to be the Manitoba Moose after their soon-to-be ex-American Hockey League team and the success of the Canadian Football League's province-wide branding for the Saskatchewan Roughriders but public pressure wanted the Winnipeg Jets name to return).
the Jets did have a the rink ready not the jerseys there where 3 rumored names Jets , Moose , Whiteout . the rumored Whiteout name came out before the Jets got their Jerseys they looked alot like the AHL Ice Caps jerseys and logo just no word mark on them . the Ice Caps jerseys used the Jets template some think that is how the designed was leaked and them knock jets came about to be .
As someone who lives a block from the Delta Center, is a UHC fan and been watching Tifo for years...this is collab I wasn't expecting lol The buzz around this team has been insane, getting to watch that opening game against the Blackhawks was an experience of a lifetime.
It’s crazy how long Bettman insisted the Coyotes would work as a franchise with that ownership. Sad we’ll probably never see the Nordiques again. At least as a Canadian Tifo fan we get to see Joe narrate a hockey video
There most definitely is hockey history in Utah dating to the 70s and 80 with the IIHL and salt lake golden eagles who won two championships and would be replaced by the Utah Grizzlies (IIHF version) who would win the turner cup in the 95/96 season after being relocated to Utah from Colorado do to the Quebec nordiques moving when the IIHF folded the Utah Grizzlies would play in the AHL until 2004 where they would move and a new franchise also called the Utah Grizzlies would join the ECHL in the 04/05 season none of this to forget the 2002 winter Olympics while there may not be NHL history in Utah there most certainly is Hockey history there
They didn't need to take the team from Arizona, an expansion would have been sufficient. Utah was almost guaranteed to get a team eventually. This is a unique situation bc Coyotes ownership was that level of bad which made their quick sale necessary and could not really wait any longer. Coyotes franchise could have been sold later on and moved to one of several other places, just that this new ownership group and SLC was best equipped to get the new team going so quickly. Similar in ways to how the Thrashers ended up in Winnipeg within one off-season.
Ive got to say tifo im extremely impressed, having just realised this team is a thing in the NHL shows how much ive been slouching on this sport that i once couldnt get enough of. Top stuff boys 😎
I’m extremely proud for these guys to be playing 10 minutes south of me… On for these professional athletes to be finally treated as such I’m by the standings it sure looks like it.. By the way… for a long time there was a hockey presence in downtown SLC… the “Salt Lake Golden Eagles”, they played in the old salt palace in downtown..
Miracle time? There has been several NHL teams that have moved and rebranded in a single off season. Not just NHL, all of the professional sports. Except Utah was the first that "didn't" have the time to come up with a proper name.
For a “historical” perspective, that was poor. Quebec Nordiques moved to Colorado within about the same period and they even came up with a name and a logo!!!!!!!
I don't know who would say Phoenix is a desirable city to live in at all, let alone the MOST desirable unless you care about golfing at the expense of everything else, lol. It's too hot to be outside 4 months out of the year, they're running out of water, and the city is choked with car-brained crippled urban design.
"laughing stock of the sporting world" ... hyperbole. I only found out about the entire development when I did a sports team quiz on Jetpunk, so hardly. Maybe the "laughing stock of the North-American sporting world that cared enough about ice hockey".
@@thedrunkenwobblies1331 not the case OFFICIALLY. Gary Bettman stated that Utah Hockey Club is an expansion team many times if you're not aware of it, in their case they acquired Arizona Coyotes' hockey operations and as of right now it's inactive until it comes back as expansion in the next five years with a new ownership.
did you even watch the video? it wasnt simply a name change. the larger point was the logistics of moving a team to another city in less than half a year. its actually remarkable that they were able to do it. also its spelled clickbait
They are an expansion team, not a relocation team. It's more complicated than them just "changing the name". The current Utah Hockey Club has no history in the league. No claim to anything to do with the Coyotes. The players, draft picks and other assets were transferred to the Utah Hockey Club. The Arizona Coyotes franchise, trademark, license and history still exist, but the franchise in active.
It's not. The coyotes owner retained the rights to a franchise in Arizona (which I believe he renounced). This was an entirely new organization that acquired all of the Phoenix Coyotes but not their history or spot in the league.
More hockey content please. This sport NEEDS a lot more exposure outside of north america badly!
Sweden, Russia, Finland, Czechia, Switzerland etc. all produce NHL players. What are you talking about no exposure outside North America?
dude the games start at like 2 am here in europe
how am i suppose to watch them?

There’s more hockey history in Salt Lake City than the entire state of Arizona
That does not mean they should move a whole team
