  • Sergey Bogdan (Сергей Богдан), chief test pilot of the Sukhoi Company and Hero of the Russian Federation performs a mind-boggling flight performance with the famed russian 5th generation fighter aircraft, the Sukhoi Su-57 during MAKS 2019 airshow on August 31st at Ramenskoe airport in Zhukovskiy.
In the previous video we saw a different display by a different pilot that introduced many high-speed segments to which Bogdan's own performance adds up with unearthly, gravity defying and pretty aggressive post-stall maneuvers flown with masterful showmanship, taking advantage of the many features from this magnificient aircraft design.
Unlike in past MAKS editions, now we finally see the Su-57 being pushed closer to the limits of what the airframe is capable of, delighting the onnlookers with pure amazement.
Moreover, on August 27th, President Putin and President Erdogan met at the airshow to discuss a possible deal including export versions of the Su-35 and the Su-57. If Turkey ends up inking a contract to acquire any of these russian-made fighter jets, it will be a big deal for the russian aerospace industry. The negotiations are still developing.
The Sukhoi Su-57, previously designated T-50 (Сухой Су-57 / T-50) is a single-seat, twin-engine, stealth fighter aircraft with multirole capability but designed for air superiority and attack operations. This jet aircraft is the product of the PAK-FA (ПАК-ФА, Перспективный авиационный комплекс фронтовой авиации, literally "Prospective Aviation Complex of Frontline Aviation"), a fifth-generation fighter programme of the Russian Air Force. The first prototype performed the maiden flight on January 29, 2010. Deliveries of production aircraft to the Russian Air Force are expected to begin in 2018.
The fighter is intended to succeed the MiG-29 and Su-27 in the Russian Air Force and to serve as the basis for the Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft (FGFA) while complementing the recently built fleets of SU-35S and SU-30SM. The initial production batch are to be delivered with a highly upgraded variant of the AL-31F engine, extensively used by the Su-27 family while a totally new turbofan jet powerplant is being designed from scratch. In fact the first prototype of this engine has already been fitted into a SU-57 airframe and has already begun testing.
The Su-57 has a blended wing body fuselage and incorporates all-moving horizontal and vertical stabilizers. The aircraft incorporates thrust vectoring nozzles and has adjustable leading edge vortex controllers (LEVCONs) that improve high angle of attack behaviour. The advanced flight control system and thrust vectoring nozzles make the aircraft highly maneuverable in both pitch and yaw, enabling it to perform post-stall maneuvers such as the Pugachev's Cobra and the Bell maneuver, along with doing flat rotations with little altitude loss. The aircraft's high cruising speed and normal operating altitude is also expected to give it a significant kinematic advantage over older fighter jet generations.

And Su-57s dont come closer than 300 km to the border of Ukraine. We can see them but they wont come close. Because russians know that Ukranians will shoot it down with ease. Its not even a stealth plane because of those engines. It wouldve been a bigger reputation blow than destroying flagship cruiser Moskva. And dont forget that you will have to become a nazi to be a russian. Youl have to hate USA, bomb civilians in theaters or just normal buildings. As the saying goes every aircraft has speed, range, agility, performance.... And politics as they say. The su57 is a different kind of 5th gen aircraft. Maybe not as stealthy (the Americans only measure front aspect stealth and the Russians average all aspect steslth) as the f22 but for sure more advanced electronics as let's face it the f22 has not really been upgraded since the 1990s when computers were very very much slower. The f22 is a maintenance disaster. The su57 is also designed to be easy to live with. Take that pampered heated hangers of the f35 etc. Sensor fusion as Lockheed would say is the f35 killer feature... I recall the mig31 having active electronic scanned array radar Zaslon that could talk to other aircraft... That was in the 1980s. My view is for the money this plane is a bargain. For the same money you might get an f16 or f18 super hornet. Russia needs to keep this program going so it's going to offer it for sale. I understand Brazil is interested as is vietnam. China is a no-no because they will just want 2 copies so they can strip the engines and reverse engineer. Turkey want to build their own plane with British engines, French electronics and German machining. Yeeee. That ain't gonna get off the ground.

Roland Lawrence ... well first, the F-22 was first declared operational in 2005, its first combat mission was in 2014 when it successfully targeted and struck an ISIS command and control building in Syria. The first serial production of the SU-57 is to be delivered by the end of 2019 and it will still be without the Izdelye 30 engine which isn’t expected to be ready until 2025? So instead it will be using the Saturn AL-41 engine which is underpowered and won’t allow the SU-57 to super cruise, thus it will need to use afterburners to go supersonic ... destroying any pretense of being stealthy!
As for maintenance, both jets use radar absorbent material to mask their radar signature and so the SU-57 will still be maintenance heavy to keep this coating in prime condition as normal wear and tear slowly degrades its effectiveness! Plus if they’re running underpowered engines in the SU-57 until 2025, you know that they are wearing those out faster from being overstressed!??

@@JimCOsd55 have you seen how many f22s are actually operational? It's not so many. Have you seen the sortie rates? It's about one a week. Make no mistake the f22 is an awesome but of engineering. Not all RAM coatings are the same. Sure the USA has a waaaaay bigger budget and the old Soviet times of spending 30% of gdp on the military are over. Russia has the realization of modernising a bit at a time. They have really struggled with carbon composite materials in the Su57. Also the next generation metals technology too is a problem. The engines will be late but it's not a deal breaker. Super cruise is nice but it turns out listening posts pick up booms very well. Over water even more so. The biggest problem the su57 has is that you can have an su35s tomorrow and that's a deadly machine to have. Big range, better EW, massive load out. Great IRST. Pretty affordable. Same price as an f16 block 60. It's also worth noting that many improvements from the Su57 are making their way into the su27 family.... It's by no means a dead end or horses arse.

Not always true but usually a good indicator! (Sometimes clouds form just because of high speed and airfoil lowering pressure/temperature of the air).

@jet guy I believe that the condensation on top of the plane turning is at least as much due to the drop in air pressure as the drop in temperature, although the two are tightly related (PV=nRT).

    • @mrSkandalpolisen
      @mrSkandalpolisen 3 года назад +2

      Not at all true.
It's more true that it is an indicator of how close to the limit of what the plane can do.
Water vapor is NOT at all a good thing.
Instead it is a huge energy loss (it takes a lot of energy to vaporize that amount of water from the air).
Take JAS 39 Gripen for example, almost never any signs of water vapor but still pulling long 9 g frequently on shows.
The Gripen is capable of pulling 12g (it's software limited to 12g).
