- It's the 2019 SEPTA Trolley Tunnel Blitz! All Subway-Surface trolleys are diverted to 40th Street Market-Frankford Line Station!
Every year, SEPTA closes the subway-surface trolley tunnel for 10 days to perform routine maintenance. This means routes 10, 11, 13, 34, and 36 need to divert over to 40th Street Station.
Even though route 36 is operating as bus presently, it is also diverted over to 40th Street Station in order to preserve transfers.
Location: 40th Street Market-Frankford Line Station; 40th and Market Streets, Philadelphia, PA
Routes: 10, 11, 13, 34, 36, 40, LUCY

The 36 Joins The Team
The El proably gets lonley during these 10 days lol
It picks up all the people who otherwise can't take the trolley. I'm sure the Market-Frankford Line is TIRED at this point. lol
@@DashTransit OH well i guess its happy during these days then

36 as bus? They're doing repairs on Elmwood Ave again?
Not sure what the reason is, but it sure made for interesting video!
Elmwood is being detoured with track replacement right off Island Ave.
I guess the 10 trolley doesn’t count,only plays a cameo role...??!!
What do you mean?
Get rid of the trolley and run busses through the tunnel like some other cities do. It’s cheaper and will save taxpayers millions.
Septa Cannot run busses thru the tunnel due to clearance and no way to vent the exhaust.
Excuse me. How sustainable is diesel fuel?
@@yardgod33 it is a dirty burning fuel
I don't agree that getting rid of the trolleys will be cheaper, since they already exist and thus they only have to pay to operate and maintain them... BUT
Not all buses are diesel powered either. Alternate power sources such as CNG fuel and electricity have also proven to be reliable in recent years. The only real problem would be the agency choosing to invest in it - something that would have positive impacts as a whole in the future, but is expensive to start up (as with any project nowadays due to $$$).
