He would actually lose. Kindred discoveries is an instalose in locust god because there is no may trigger, you would deck yourself

Bruna has an on cast trigger btw, doesnt trigger with unburial rites. I dont get why u (merieke) dont get more hate from the other players... ur stealing so much from them.. just wondering why they didnt team up against u?

One thing that's funny is that if a creature that Merieke steals is returned with Homeward Path or something similar and Merieke untaps or dies later the creature is still killed.

My plan, once I've sorted out the cards, is to build 5 colour host/augment, using General Tazri as the commander, as she can then tutor up Jumblemorph on etb.

I do have a question on how Julius and Side Quest would work...Since, he is technically a commander, would he keep said mark on him as he goes on a quest, and if he deals 21 damage there, does that...lose the game for the player that took it?

you may wish to move the life totals and names to the bottom of the frames, this would leave the faces of the commanders visible.
Mike Fehr but then he wouldn’t have space for all the various color coded commander damages, poison counters, experience counters, etc. It’s a small loss for all that on the screen imo.
That was some REALLY good gameplay locust was about to go off a bunch and you controlled that well phil heldnhis own best he could and that VO really tweaked up your commander Julius was a great commander and i really liked his spicy host plays that was definitely one of the best videos you've posted thank you

At 7:50 you misplay Dawnbreak Reclaimer. You don't target an opponent or anything really. He has to chose a creature in any opponent's graveyard. Only if all opponents have no creatures in their graves he can ignore that bit.

I love my Merieke deck, I am thinking about morphing mine into a more copy focused deck. But I'm running a lot of the same cards that were played here. She's so strong yet is undervalued a lot in games because she's only as strong as the other decks.

@@paine2631 I wouldn't agree in the slightest, she is definitely strong, but also super easy to deal with and needs a bit of help to really go well. Plus I have since changed her to a more copy clone deck since I made this. So now she just wants to play your cards!

I know this video is quite old but my friend put together a merieke deck and honestly it’s fun to play against. We all team up of course but I guess my play group just enjoys that annoying challenge

For the Locust God, Kindred Discovery is more of an all-in combo card. I would only ever cast it if I have Impact Tremors / Purphoros / Lab Man and counter back up.

Merieke was straight up oppressive this game. That deck had one from the first turn with little care.
Yall need to read, how bruna works. You guys messed it up every time. It's defiantly a cast trigger, so he should have got kalia back the first cast even though it got countered, but the reanimating the bruna wouldnt bring back gisella either.
Yea, we definitely should have checked on the wording of the card. I don't typically play Kaalia, so that's partly to blame.
Daniel Sexton it’s definitely* unless you’re saying the cast trigger defied them. People make mistakes like you just did. Rather than get angry over it look past them and realize they had fun. Cuz you’re far from flawless yourself rofl.

Locus God needs more rocks and draw, I run a ton of wheel style effects and even cheap draw to get the engine going, stuff like battle hymn also really accelerates you as well
Did he have a way that I'm missing to give Merieke haste. because there is a point at 9:53 that he uses her ability the same turn he cast her
For the extra combat step merieke had at the end. you couldn't have produced red even with chromatic lantern since it was outside your commanders color identity right? Not sure if I am mistaken here.

It was changed, you can use things that generate different colored mana to make stuff out of your identity now.

They changed that rule some time ago. Makes things easier if you clone or steal something from an opponent that requires colored mana to activate. I like it actually :D
I've watched many of your videos. 1st off Great job, please continue to provides some sweet games. My only comment is that it seems your meta is immensely lite on removal. Looks mainly like "I'm going to build my deck to get to my infinite combo 1st with minimal interaction as possible" style. Nothing wrong with that but is that intentional? Less removal makes games shorter so I can see where that would make sense due to filming.
It's not intentional. People build and play whatever they're into.
You're not allowed to activate hellkite charger's ability even with chromatic lantern. Any mana produced outside your commander's color identity becomes colorless. Unless you guys house ruled that of course.
That's no longer the case. They've since updated the ruling on being able to produce mana of colors beyond your commander's restrictions. You can't run things with the symbols, but Chromatic Lantern does allow lands to be tapped for colors even if you're not running a commander that allows it.

Marcos Perera he also forgot to grab when Bruna was countered. My best guess is they thought she was ETB not cast.

Pretty sure you can't make colored mana outside ouf your commander's identity. The rules say that you would make colorless instead. Meaning the extra combat isn't possible with stolen hellkite charger...
They've since changed that rule.

The game was over at 5:50 if the Locust God player was more familiar with the deck. I didn’t see if you paid the 1 for rhystic, but he also had commanders sphere. I can see how it missed it, I was screaming internally the whole time lol.
Yea, I was sweating bullets worried that he'd see it. It was his first time playing my deck, so his inexperience with the interactions are understandable.

Aj Chriss What question about priority? As in who is allowed to respond first? If that's your question then priority is always passed to the next person in turn order. Ex: If Max puts anything on the stack, Phil gets priority, then Eric, then mudstah.
Hey Muddstah. Love the vids. I've been watching them all week. Just wanted to say that you should probably take kindred discovery out of the locust god deck. Neither ability says may so if you draw a card that will create an insect and that will draw a card which creates an insect etc etc until you deck yourself. I suppose if you had a lab maniac out that wouldn't be an issue but just thought Id let you know.
DoubleHelixGamer you can either bounce The Locust God or Kindred Discovery on the stack whenever you have enough locusts to kill everyone at the table. It’s a great card, you goof

Well if you think about it. It makes more sense to cram as many unstable cards into it because it will all be banned soon. He wouldn't want to spend a great deal of money on a deck he'd probably never get to use again.

So the Kaalia player never forgave the guy who killed his general and they let the Marieke player dominate. Really bad decisions.
That deck wasn’t even fun or interesting. If someone fielded that against me it would be the last time I played with them.
The Kaalia deck was too weak and poor, where's the haste? The mana rocks? The wipes? The other 3 decks were fine.
Merieke was making me angry just watching this game, I hate my stuff getting taken over and over again. It is tantamount to bullying for lunch money at school.

I think you have nice friends since they did not beat you to death after this game. You screw the hole game by playing a deck that wins and annoy other people, while kaalia is standard and the host deck is just for fun. Yout power level is a lot better than others, may be just locust god to do something. I think the next step is to give children basic commander decks and beat them with your ultimate decks!
Dragne Horatiu wow someone is salty... even funnier on the behalf of others that did not ask for it. Merieke wasn’t broken; it just had a very favorable matchup against two creature focused decks. Locust God missed a win it coulda had and had they teamed up at Merieke they woulda been fine. Against many other decks Merike is pretty weak like spellslinger or counter control or similar. It was a pretty good game all around.
You would NOT have been able to activate the hellkite charger's ability because your deck would not have been able to to produce red mana...cool video and grats on the cool deck tho.
I had Chromatic Lantern. The EDH Rules commit has since rescinded they rule about not being able to produce mana outside of your commander's colors. It was a legal line of play.

Ok, I stand corrected then. I had just recently read the "official" EDH rules recently but may not have been updated and on the official site. Thanks for the heads up. My group has still been playing can't produce mana outside commander colors. Love the vids btw, commentary and editing is superb!

This was an awful game to watch. Not only does Merieke ruin all the fun of playing and watching a game, but it was so frustrating to watch the other players not focus on the one player who is obviously a threat. Why did you choose to show this game?
To teach people Merieke is a threat?
I would argue Locust God is a threat if they can assembel, and Khalia is a threat if left to attack... So arguably a fair enough game.
