I love them all, Chris in 1976 is the og and really brings out the mean girl, Emilie did a great job in 2002, but 2013 Chris was so evil and cunning it was scary
I love all three Chris's in their own ways: Nancy Allen's was the original mean girl, Emilie De Raven's Chris reminded me a lot of Regina George (one of my favorite film characters), and Portia Doubleday's Chris is the most book accurate.
@carolinewoodward1016 Chris is not the "Blonde, stuck up leader of the pack" in the book. She's a black haired, olive skinned psychopath that the group only pretends to like because they're scared of her. That's exactly who Portia Doubleday plays: A psychopath who thinks she's popular, but is actually despised by her supposed friends. She _is_ a wannabe in the book, just a very dangerous one. She may not look the same as her book counterpart, but in terms of writing, Portia Doubleday _is_ the Chris from the book.
@carolinewoodward1016 Did you completely ignore the part where I said "She may not _look the part"?_ And, no, the only reason the kids stick with Chris in the book is because she's intimidating, partly because of her dad. So thank you for mentioning him and proving my point. She was only blonde in the first two movies, and brunette in the third one, but in the book, she had black hair and was the furthest thing from the cheerleader type.
Portia was the best Chris for me. She's uncanny as a modern day narcissistic, sociopathic bully. As for Billy, I think 2002 is the best.
Btw, it's super karmic that Billy died first and Chris mourned over him, because Carrie had to experience the same thing with Tommy.
I agree with Portia being the Best Chris but I think Alex Russell was a bit more threating and scary than 2002’s billy
@@clbarton21 Yeah I think that the guy who played Billy in the 2002 version was a little cheesy at parts, but I do think he was closest to the book version who was a creepy future serial killer, as opposed to a goofy drunk moron or a thuggish gang member. I also think it was an interesting decision to have Chris revel in Billy's violence (such as when he killed the pig or when he tried to run over Carrie), even though in the book, Chris tried to stop Billy from killing Carrie.
@@theangelproductions Travolta was the best Billy in my opinion. He plays himself and that is what I want from Travolta. HE IS FUNNY and everyone will say he is laughable in the role, not me. The scariest Billy was in 2002, 2013 was boring but scary. With Chis I do agree with you.
@@theangelproductions I actually kinda like him being more of a standard, thuggish hoodlum in Alex Russell's portrayal. It adds a bit more variety to the Billy Nolans of the films rather than just repeating the psychopathic bastard that we got in 2002.
In the 2002 movie the two villains were great. Billy for being the deadly bad boy & Chris for playing the spiteful, nasty bully who held a grudge against poor Carrie. The performance of the bullying was very down to earth. 😃👍👏🎉
It seems Jesse Cadote didn't do many other roles so I guess Billy was the most notable one he got. Emilie de Ravin hasn't played a bully since then I don't think
My school is putting up a production of Carrie: The Musical and I'm playing Chris. This is honestly a great character breakdown/analysis of all the versions that I really needed!!
haha glad to be of help :) Happy Hargensoning!
I love that the 2013 version purposely makes Chris physically resemble Snooki.
I have the power of knowing whos next
Also something I somehow never realized until now: given that Carrie's first humiliation involves blood (her thinking her first period is her bleeding to death, and Chris getting all the girls the throw tampons at her to terrorize her further), I'm wondering if Chris decided to pour blood on her precisely because she figured that's what would traumatize her the most. I haven't read the book so does it explain this bit furget?
I think it does tie into that, since the incident is what leads to Chris getting suspended and banned from the prom. I can't remember if it's said outright but I always assumed that was the case.
That and the pigs bIood for a pig would be denoting how weak she is. Like a stuck pig.
I don’t understand why this channel doesn’t have more subscribers I love this channel
Ah I haven't been around that long so it takes time. Thank you for your kind words 😊
I would hug 2002 Chris, giving her a more better life with Carrie.
That's a perspective I've not heard before lol
I think chris had a brutal death in 2013
Very much so. All the deaths in that version are much more brutal. In the 1976 the prom scene is more like a bit of chaos that escalates, while the 2013 is like premeditated murder everywhere.
2013 Chris deserved what she got.
In the 2002, which was going to be a series, Chris was supposedly to survive the car crash and be horribly disfigured.
Was that in Bryan Fuller's outline for the next episode?
No one can beat Nancy Allen and John Travolta..
Nancy was the Farrah Fawcett type in Carrie . But with attitude.
Chris: *makes a shocked face when Collins dies*
Me:wait thats illegal
Go down the comment
Fun fact miss Desjardins name is rita
another fun fact - in the copy of the book I have, her name is mistakenly given as 'Rhoda' in the epilogue
She's also mistakenly called 'Miss Geer' at one point.
Emilie de Ravin was the best Chris of them all
It's funny how that was the first thing I saw her in but she's never really played a role like that again.
@@BetterWithBob I know! She was great as a bully and should've gotten more 'bitchy' roles
@@selmalover She did get a brief bit playing the evil Belle on Once Upon A Time but it was only for three episodes :(
@@BetterWithBob I loved her in 'Lost', she played a main character there and you get to enjoy her australian accent lol
Alex Russell was the hottest and scariest, no contest for me. Jesse was great too, and John was just terrible
Will there be one of Tommy Ross
I had one written but what with the Ansel Elgort allegations, I was a bit reluctant to post anything praising him (as his is the best Tommy) 🙈
2013 Chris is the most evil, and Billy’ 2002 and 2013 are both scary in my opinion !!
Hey, maybe a weird question but who do you think is worse: Chris and Billy or Margaret? For me it's hard to say. With Margaret it's her own daughter, so that seems worse. However, she at least as the excuse of being insane, whereas Chris and Billy are just assholes.
Oh that's an interesting question, since both are varying degrees of 'bad'. And it's a testament to King's writing that he sheds light on how they became that way - Margaret being terrified of her grandmother's powers from a young age, Chris being indulged by her father and Billy being abused. It's probably a copout to say that they were all as bad as each other but I think that might be how it is.
Chris and Billy 2003 is most realistic and probably my favorite.
Realistic in which way? I'd like to hear your thoughts :)
Wait? Chris in the book has dark hair and olive skin? What page does it say that on? I’m kind of interested?
In the book I have page 71, says 'She was looking exceptionally pretty, her black hair held by a shamrock-green band'
God, I am a geek lol
Yes, I think the best Chris Hargenson who actually looks like portrayed in the book about 80% was probably 2013 Portia Doubleday’s Chris because of the burnette hair in real life she’s blonde.
If I remember correctly, though it's been eight years since I read it, in the book Chris never wanted Carrie to die
One of the supporting charecter is helen shyers from 2002
Yep gonna be talking about her 🙂 she was a real standout to me
Helen is the 2nd most evil of the Mortimer snerds
@@clbarton21 maybe in the 76 version (although Norma seems to be even more evil than Chris). We don't know about her enough in the book, and in the 2002 version she redeems herself
Better With Bob? In the book Tina Blake is actually the best friend of Chris but she survives the black prom and regrets her descion but Helen seems more agressive but I agree that Norma is more evil than Chris
@@clbarton21 Tina doesn't seem to know about the prank either, though she does let Chris see the nominations. There is a line where Chris says she "set it up" but it's left open
I like 2013. More modern but Carrie can fly which makes her more like a witch. All 3 had elements I like.
😍 Emilie De Ravin
Chris ❤ 2002
Great video 👍👍
Thank you for watching 😊
In my opinion 76 in context Billy wasn't really the bad guy he was playing a joke Chris was a bad influence on him the other actors that played Billy while decent but he is more the sociopath brains i applaud depelma for changing the dynamic
I personally don’t he made him way to goofy to even be taken serious he wasn’t intimidating whatsoever and he’s very far from his book character
Emilie de Ravin is Beauty ❤
In more ways than one ;)
cos y'know she played Belle from Beauty & the Beast on OUAT
...I'll show myself out
John Travolta Billy reminds me of my ex boyfriend
2013 Chris is the worst I'd say. Do you think that's why she gets the most gruesome death? Also, does it bother you I ask so many questions about your videos?
Not at all. I love any Carrie related discussions 😁
@@BetterWithBob Ok. Something I forgot to put in my first post: In addition to what you said in the video, I think the 2013 version is the worst since in the shower scene she says right away that "she (Carrie) doesn't know it's her period", yet she still decides to terrorize her and get the other girls to do so as well. In the 1976 version of the scene, I always thought at least some of the girls started tormenting her because they were freaked out when she tried to touch them with her bloody hands, as opposed to just being pointlessly cruel.
Idk if it’s me or did 2002 billy not seem a good fit
He's my preferred Billy out of all the three, but I think Alex Russell might have got there if he had more to do.
Nancy Allen 🙁 it seems normal to me
Portia Doubleday 🤮💚 in my opinion she is not beautiful but she acts well
😍❤️ Emilie de Ravin she is beautiful and does as great job of Bad girl my favorite ❤️
What type of car was Alex Russell driving in the 2013 version of the Carrie movie?
It was a '69 Pontiac GTO.
@@davids.7567 Really? I don't that red car he drove was that old
@@pkzadam115able You'd be surprised at the amount of work people dedicate to maintaining older cars.
@@davids.7567 Ok?
Glad you felt the same way I can’t stand 1976 Billy this is no hate to John Travolta the script probably just told him to act that way even if they didn’t I’m sorry but he’s just to goofy to be taken serious unlike 2002 apart from the cheesy moments or 2013 Billy the original Billy comes off to me as a dumb sidekick to Chris rather than a dominant boyfriend and this is the type of Image people who hadn’t read the book would have about his character
My counselor called me the million dollar baby (knowing I'm more like CARRIE) one time really condescending like what that make you lady Clint Eastwood or something more like Margaret white than Chris and billy
They not suite billy and Chris
