Great video! A potentially interesting one could be the rise and fall of his old boss, Al Groh. Long career in college and the pros before falling apart
Scott Fisher Miami didn't beat Louisville in that bowl game Golden never won a bowl game at Miami he also went 0-5 against FSU on top of that he didn't know how to recruit in an interview he said that he has never seen so many 5 star prospects in one area of the country the man didn't know how to recruit. South FL is a hotbed for football talent guys like Amari Cooper, Ermon Lane and Devonte Freeman just to name a few wanted to play for Miami but Golden turned them down when Brad Kaaya came in he started him to save his own ass Ryan Williams was supposed to be the starter that year b4 he got hurt he eventually recovered in time for the season opener Jake Heaps transferred to Miami thinking he was going to start but he wasn't good enough he had transferred twice already Golden couldn't even fire the best man at his wedding who was his DC Mark D'Onfrio Clemson did us a favor and exposing how much of a moron he was as a HC
The Golden era were the worst years Of being a Miami Hurricane fan. Going 0-5 against FSU was so heartbreaking and he sucked at Recruiting those recruits did the right things and played for there schools FSU and Alabama and succeeded. I just Hope Now history doesn’t Repeat itself. Manny better Fire Baker don’t make the same mistakes Golden did Fire baker and get a new Defensive coordinator! Your winning in Recruiting and you have established a good offensive system with Rhett Lashlee but Fire BAKER 🔥!!
@@dmpproductions.5328 I don't know yet how to evaluate Diaz as a game day coach, but I will say, when something/someone doesn't work he wastes no time in changing it. Enos gone after 1 year. D'Onofrio was clueless and was never told to hit the road. Diaz is recruiting Miami kids and adding key personal to his staff. That is something Golden Al never did.
@@ScottFisherCFB Diaz is doing pretty good we went from 6-7 to 8-3 but he is quite possibly THE WORST coach coming off of a bye week. Hasn’t had a win coming off of a bye week his entire head coaching career at miami
AL GOLDEN was once a HOT-coaching commodity....his downfall was taking the UM job....Abysmal facilities-prop 48 recruits...what was once a juggernaut job is a coaching stepping stone job...for better or worse
I think you need to do a little more in depth research. The fact that you spent 10 minutes trying to explain why he failed without mentioning Mark D'nofrio is a problem.
Hey man outstanding content just saw this and I am a die hard Miami hurricanes fan been a frustrating 20 plus years been not just coaching the administration too but I think finally we might have gotten it together with coach Mario Cristobal and new coaching staff and new administration with former Clemson ad Daniel radakovich
Fantastic video outstanding on al golden im a die hard canes fan i have to say al golden dissappointed at miami could not get it done especially with the talent he had at the u plus al golden recruited very well for us so it was not lack of talent it was coaching and scheming just was not good have good one thank you. And for me go canes 🙌
Hi I'm his daughter, Grace Golden, and I am in Spanish class right now. BTW I'm sitting next to my bestie Molly Workman and we are laughing ok byeee. I'm 11 nowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
Glad he didn't fire his DC. Otherwise we would be mired in mediocrity for much longer. But the program savior is here. Mario knows how to recruit and build the program based on the winning formular. He loves Miami and is committed long term. He will surpass all past great Miami coaches by the time he's done.
I was going to say the same thing. Golden's inability to move on from D'Onofrio (yeah, I realize he's Golden's brother in law) was really his downfall. The 3-4, passive, LBs 15 yards deep, DBs 20+ yards deep scheme just wasn't suited to the talent in the defensive side of the ball. The offense was never a high powered offense, but they usually did well enough to keep them in the game. The defense just played too passive to hold the lead or get a crucial stop. After Golden was fired and Richt took over, those same defensive players started becoming a much better unit because the scheme changed to a more attacking, aggressive style.
Scott Fisher he always played a soft zone defense that didn’t align with the talent on his roster. Miami defenses are accustomed to playing fast and attacking defense.
This clown along with others helped lead Miami to get their shit together administratively later on which helped bring us cristobal and commitment to athletics so in a sense I’m grateful as a Miami fan, we’ve suffered now it’s time to get back winning nattys
I really like the concept of these videos and I don’t want to be rude I love the content but at times the video felt a little bit clunky but it’s fine I know you haven’t been on RUclips for a supper long time and everybody how is eventually great needs to improve at something, I’m just trying to put constructive criticism out there and hope by the end of the the summer you could have a rise like Set the Edge did last year with NFL content, you have lots of potential with great ideas and I’m excited to maybe see a Michigan video on there last few coaches failed. If I come off as rude I’m not meaning to there’s a lot of positive to your channel just want you to be not just good but great at this RUclips thing and be up there with a guy like FlemLo Raps.
This a pretty poorly researched piece. You're citing annual W-L records and stats but make no reference to what drove the W-L record and the stats - it was Mark D'Onofrio's bend but don't break defense that was Miami's Achilles heel. Al Golden refused to fire D'Onofrio. That cost Golden his job.
@@ScottFisherCFB Sorry, I didn't realize it was the first one that you did. I appreciate you taking the time to put these videos together. Will check out the new ones.
To be honest with you I always believed this man is a good coach he can sell a program his only issue is hiring assistants on offense and defense if this man would have hired a spread offensive coordinator and fired his best friend on defense it probably would not have ended like it did
My short list for this series so far is Bo Pelini, Bret Bielema, Butch Jones, and Jim McElwain. What are your guys' ideas?
Sure man do Jim McElwain
I def will!
What about Mark Richt?
Bobby patreno
Mark Richt, Dan Mullen and Mel Tucker

Another videos you should do also former Miami hurricanes football head coaches Randy Shannon and Manny Diaz.
Miami lost their bowl game in 2013 against Louisville...
You should do Butch Jones
That one is high on my list
His biggest failure was not firing his DC
Seems to be the case
It was more than that, he was an inept coach and the players followed his style and played like it, inept.
I wanna see a video like this on Rick Neuheisel. Would be cool
Golden has been a beast of a DC at Notre Dame, meanwhile Miami is still irrelevant since 03.

The rise and fall of Les Miles at LSU

Randy Shannon

Scott Fisher let me know when you do I’ll share it on my channel
He couldn't fire his buddy Donoforio. If he would have gotten a new d coordinator he would probably still be here.
Crazy, what was so bad about him?
