  • The Nama Ramayana is written by a Sri Vaisnava devotee, Laksmanacharya. There are seven cantos/Kandams which are chronologically placed in the same order as specified in the original Valmiki Ramayana. These Kandams (Balakandam, Ayodhya kandam, Aranya Kandam, Kishkinda kandam, Sundara Kandam, Yuddha Kandam, Utthara Kandam) depict the life story of Sri Rama in 108 slokas. The name RAMA is formulated based on powerful base letters (beejaaksharam) 'Ra' and 'Ma'. Ra is agni beejam reciting which burns out all sins. Ma is amrutha beejam reciting which gives stability of mind. Hence reciting Rama namam with love will burn out all our sins and give us constant peace of mind and take us from death and birth circle. Chanting Nama Ramayana daily and meditating on the name of 'Rama' brings a person closer to self-realization and God and thus absolves one of all of his sins. Nama Ramayana is the story of Rama written for this purpose. Apart from condensing the story, it helps the devotees to meditate on the different sterling aspects of Rama
