Uefi is better..
As far as malware are concerned, nothing is malware safe completely.. obviously it can be infected, but ease of installation of rootkits can vary..

How i change leg to bio
Legacy was known as bios itself.. (though its not same nowadays).
If u want to change legacy to uefi, u need to change it from computer's BIOS setup.. just disable legacy boot, and it will boot into uefi mode automatically.
Just make sure to have an operating system booted into a pendrive in the desired mode (uefi or legacy) and boot your computer using that.
NOTE- Your OS will be reinstalled.
