Josh and Erin great to see people like you following your dream for you and your family. We in America can take pride that we have the freedom to follow our dream as most do not even know that, nor know that in other countrys you do not have this freedom or opportunity. You are doing it the American way and you are taking advantage and doing it yourself, My wife and I believe in this and wish most Americans would appreciate what and how you two are doing it together, wow. So proud of you. God Bless you and your family. Bob & Cinda

Thank you. I think I have binge watched at least 100 of your videos. The learning and teaching you two give to your children and subscribers is in itself an accomplishment. The passion behind following your dreams and doing it, is simply not measurable! You two give inspiration! Keep it going! Namaste!

I bought 5 acres in Colorado last month. I too will be building a home on it. Built 12 homes in my 20's for work. Now in my 30's, I choose to build my own.

Bless your hearts; could see you were not comfortable the first day up. It really doesn't get nerve racking until you are fully extended up in the Cherry Picker in winds.
What's really fun is the safety training when you get to find out the function of your safety equipment and have to test your harness and lifeline; there was only one way of doing that!
That class years before made trying my first (and only) bungee cord jump from 75feet on my 41st birthday a little less scary once the attendant gave me a push off the platform. I had my eyes open for the subsequent 4 recoils, the first taking all the way back up to the platform. What a blast.
My youngest son wanted to try the jump but would not until Mom went first.
The things we do for our kids! It was worth it. He made 3 jumps and lost his slight fear of heights.
All the sheet metal I've helped install has called for valley/flat area screw placement which makes more sense, more secure and is less damaging to metal as well as requiring shorter screws.
Don't be discouraged, y'all are doing good. Take a breath and pat yourselves on the back.

I have been following your videos from the very start, you have given me many enjoyable moments in the building of your family home, the joking between yourselves just shows how well you work and live together, long may it reign.
Because of injuries received serving with the British Para’s I spend most of my time lying on my bed and my iPad is a lifeline. Watching your videos gives me great enjoyment more than you can imagine, long may you send them.
I know you are from a different country but to me you both are friends from the next farm.

Erin, I understand your fear in that basket. I worked in the fishing industry here in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Many of times I worked in the same machine. Just imagine being on that machine, on a barge, in the harbor, being 30-40 feet straight up in the air. Took some time to get used to it, dealing not only the swaying of the basket, but the ocean and the wind. Needed to check my shorts a couple of times.

Lifts may everyone nervous for a lil while unless your used to them, but safest way to get high up. Looking good guys and so you didn't get done, it just takes longer using a lift, moving and the up and downs. You will get it done and i just love how you do not panic and plan for when you need it again. There are only so many hours in a day. Like i said, i love the look it gives the place.

Hello from germany , watching ur vids always brings a smile to my face . Im actualy doing metal roofing like 3/4 of the year , i never understood why u would drill holes where most of the water flows . But over here companys are selling that kind of fixation too and they even have a license . But ur roof is pretty steep , dun think that should b a problem . A lil hint : if ur doin that kind of fixation method , u can use the screwing points , to screw a hook ( i made one myself with rubber protection for the surface ) ontop of the sheets . Now u can use ladders aswel and skip the odd lift i dont like to use either ( cant reach everywhere , have to get out anyway , the darn thing doesnt stand still , have to watch to not bang in the sheets ) . Saves some money for the lift too , just keep in mind that u need other screws and either wooden ladders or tape some "presenting ribbon" ( google translation ) underneath to not scratch the surface . U can buy all of that stuff on the inet too , prop in ur local tool/metalshop if u tell them what u want. I rather do it myself , u atleast know what ur using . If u gonna install stuff later on into the roof ( ventilation , sun collector , chimney ) or have to repair anything , u can use the hook and ladder instead of having to rent the demons tool again . Btw im construction worker since 30 years , mainly roofs . Wish ur family good luck for the future !

Erin & Josh, you both may feel that you had not met your goal in completing the dormer roof, but you both are safe, that is main concern here, and life does through us a few curve balls and delays, but here you once again knocked it out of the park, I mean just start at the beginning of the video, superb quality content, homeruns all around here, 👍👌❤🇨🇦

I give you two all the credit in the world. I also don't like heights and I can't even imagine doing what you are doing on that entry way roof. Best of luck on the remainder of the build.

After you're done, you can build another house for yourself, this one's MINE. I love the look and location.

all in all, ya dun good, kids! With all your doing, this is a minor speed bump on the road to success. it looms large right now, but, when it's done, the frustration of this day will be but a memory. So, give each other a hug and high-five for what you got done, play with the kids, eat a good a meal. tomorrow's another day. Much love from the upper end of the Appalachians.

FYI ...the purlin bearing leg (the bigger side) goes on the bottom of the roofing steel at each lap. It looks as if you made the common mistake of thinking that more coverage keeps you from leaks. Your roofing metal is designed this way. I hope you never have a problem because of improper lapping because of the steeper pitch roof.
On another note you both are awesome. I'm really jealous of the partner you have to help with every project of the build.
    Keep up the great work!

Hey guys!! My name is Lee and I am a retired VET with a carpenters background. .First thing that I would like to say is; you two are great together and I have so much admiration and respect for what you are doing!!! Josh, you better keep that lady close and remind her EVERYDAY how much she means to you!!!! Erin is doing an awesome job and she has so much gusto and I love that she is not afraid to climb up a 20ft ladder, or grab a 4x8 sheet of OSB, and even pull pipe right there with you and she is a LOOKER!!!! Would like to be able to chat with you guys (via text, call, or FB Messenger) I am about to do the same thing (moving from Louisiana to Northeastern Tenn) that you are doing. Live in an RV and build from the ground up!!!! I am so looking forward to it. I would like to ask some questions and maybe help me with some of my steps regarding Solar, Internet, electrical, and so forth. You guys are doing an amazing job and I wish the two of you the very best!!!! GREAT JOB!!!!! Semper Fi!!!!!
