Each summer, Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute brings together the brightest young players from across the country to form the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA). Following a comprehensive audition process and a three-week training residency with leading professional orchestra musicians, these remarkable teenagers embark on a tour to some of the great music capitals of the world while serving as dynamic music ambassadors. In 2018, the orchestra traveled to Asia with conductor Michael Tilson Thomas and pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet, performing a new Carnegie Hall-commissioned work by Ted Hearne alongside works by Sibelius and Gershwin. The tour kicked off with the orchestra’s annual concert at Carnegie Hall, continuing with stops in Taipei, Shanghai, Beijing, Seoul, and Daejeon. In 2019, NYO-USA returns to Europe with conductor Sir Antonio Pappano and mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato.

it's because most people do not find this entertaining. Like how I find golf and basketball kinda boring. This kind of stuff is a niche discourse community compared to celebrities that advertise in movies and sell their own brands and stuff. Just think about it.. it makes perfect sense right? So it's not really a problem after all once you break it down and try to understand

For those of us who are very concerned with the future of classical music in this country, this gives us all hope. Of course there should be dozens of these orchestras in this country.

Very nice. The camera should have at least showed the tympanist a couple of times.

I thought I'm the only one who thinks about the camera man's shooting techniques. But the orchestra is great indeed.

They also kept focusing on the oboes when it was the clarinets playing. Never showed the clarinets up close.
