Wow, thank you! I actually hear that way too much. Psychiatrists not knowing the pharmacodynamics and kinetics of what they are prescribing is, well, negligent.
@@AlternativetoMedsCenter I have never seen a medication as strong as this one. Since I'm in hypomania, my doctor switched me to insomnia 25mg. I felt very bad: totally sedated, without concentration, sluggishness in the body, I slept for several hours straight, difficulty getting out of bed, tremors in my hands. The impression is that I had used a heavy drug
I was prescribed seroquel, for my 1 and only manic episode at age 52. I struggled for years with difficulty sleeping. Seroquel has brought me peace, but at some cost and I want off. I truly am scared to rock the boat. It is a big decision
I had some hypomania and a couple of manic episodes. Was put on Seroquel and went off it within weeks. My Bipolar was diagnosed at 54. I only take 100 mg of Lamitical and have steered away from any antipsychotics. My cognitive abilities are naturally diminishing with age. The last thing I need is something like Seroquel to hasten the process.
I’m 50. I went from 500 mg to 250 in a month. Not too bad. I had 2-3 bad days a week. Then went from 250 to 150 in a week. Going from 150 to 0 was unbearable. It was too fast. My skin was crawling, chills, anger…basically like coming off of crack. I’m still working on it. I hope you could get off.
thank you for this, I have been on 900 mg of serequel for close to 10 years. My psychiatrist got my blood work in and freaked to see my cholesterol levels were off the chart and told me to cut out my mid day dose. I feel horrible, super restless, headaches, body aches, nausea, dizziness, nasal drip. She never told me about anything I should suspect. I had originally came in to complain of other issues. Like waking up with a nose bleed and then falling into a wall and my dresser.....crawling skin, freezing cold and then unbearably hot. My Lithium levels were fine, so they suspected my Neurontin....but asked if my side effects were worse than me feeling suicidal. I feel like no one is listening...no one gets it, and then I come to find this video and it is a breath of fresh air. Thank you a thousand times over.
i'm withdrawling of seroquel as well. I'm experiencing the same symptoms. Literally the worst. I went from 100 mg a night to 25 mg in the span of 2 months, and even though I have the lowest dosis, I did certainly not expect it to be this bad.. I'm almost "clean" for 3 weeks and can't wait to get past the 6th week
@@lyndayates7533 So sorry to hear :( How long have you been off it? I got prescribed melatonin after the most withdrawing symptoms were over to help me sleep again. Maybe it can help...
Starting at 15 years old I begin being heavily medicated, one of them being Seroquel, for various psychiatric disorders. I recently started Lamictal and my psychiatrist, whom I was only seeing for my second visit, told me to start up again on it for sleep and anxiety. After doing some research I decided to cancel our follow up and begin tapering back off the Lamictal. What myself and so many other children and adolescents are forced through by physicians due to psychiatric disorders is medical malpractice and abuse for our developing bodies. Ten years later and I am only now starting to understand that the many changes in my brain/body at the time were not simply normal parts of puberty and adolescence, but were from the so called "treatment" through extremely powerful psychiatric pharmaceuticals. I will never fully come back from everything my brain and body went through. Exposing the truth so we can make informed decisions is an extremely noble thing to do. Thank you.
I, and almost everyone in my alt. school, was part of a "child/adolescent bipolar study" which, in reality, just made us seroquel guineapigs. I remember i was on 800mg/day at age 13. No wonder we have a mental heath epidemic.
Over 20 years taking this drug and I’m still at 25mg. I’m not working now, so I am going to try to kick it one more time. I also take 75mg of Lamotrigine and am very slowly tapering off that, one more time. I stopped vaping nicotine and dropped it to zero. I stopped drinking coffee everyday and drink one cup of tea. I can’t put my finger on why I’m doing this now. I think it is a overwhelming need to get back to my authentic self, which is the little Nora I was before things in my life accumulated beating me down. I feel for each and every one of you.
I was on Seroquel for 10 years. I lost my ability to walk and my speech. I was on 850mgs now down to 25mgs. I'm hoping that my life will get back to normal
Geez. I hope you're doing ok. I'm on 800, trying to come down from it. The Dr isn't much help and tends to say things like, "You can stop taking your morning dose and see how you feel." I feel like he's putting it in my hands without really helping. So I would really love to know how you got down to 25! My morning dose is 100. It's day 2 of me not taking it and I already am starting to feel the withdrawals but amazingly I feel a little more awake and motivated to do stuff around the house and it's just day 2. Do you have any tips? I want to eventually be on as small a dose as possible!
@@AshleyRossersmlybright It's so frustrating that there is no support surrounding this horrible drug.. I'm about to taper off myself... MYSELF.. because my doctor told me it's so safe and I would want to be on it longterm like 10 plus years.. I"m on year 5 now.. going on year 6!!! and I want off this roller coaster... I want to be my authentic self again... the one before all of this madness.. I hope you can do this..
Wow. How long were you on the drug for and how many mgs? I’ve been on 50mg for my insomnia for about 6 years now and I’m currently in the process of tapering off. I’m just trying to find as much info as I can about the best way to go about it. I too was told the drug was completely safe and would have no issues getting off.
I managed to get myself down to 6mgs from the 50 I was at. It was very tough trying to maintain my job during the withdrawals but I’m almost there. I’m just waiting for another week when I can work from home so that I can do my last drop to nothing. I hope the last drop doesn’t make me too sick I’m pretty scared.
Hey im now around 2and a half years on seraquel( for sleep) I was instituted for depression and suicidal , not bi polar not scizo not anything just on the spectrome of spme sort of personal dissorder and i was a zombie for 4 months they justpumped me with300 mg of seraquel , 100mg morning lunch and evening , now ive went through some changes when i got out they switched it to 300 XR then( after a few months) to 200XR and 100 regular and then like 8months ago to 100mg and 100XR but at the same time ( at night) now about 4days ago idecided that because im still on thewaves of good ( relative good)and bad that this thing isnt helping so its time to try somthing else and got my psychiatrist to lower this thing sothe 100XR is off the table and wow what a dopamine rush actually thought i was manic for a while( never been manic b4) And he the DR gave me zyprexa to help gettting of seraquel and maybe transition to it which after one time of taking i said fuck no , side affects to much for me aint happening so will see what will happen . But dam i thought it was for my depression not for sleep but no one thought to tell me and i like a sheep blindedly followed orders.well not anymore time to get my life back
Me too! Been off it for a month and feeling emotions again. However I have sever stomach pain every morning. I have no idea why! Dr did blood tests and everything is normal.
I'm going through withdrawal now. I've gone through withdrawal from amphetamines, alcohol, benzos, nicotine, etc.. I must say, Seroquel withdrawal is seriously nasty. I'm experiencing nausea, headaches, insomnia, shakiness, all sorts of issues with my digestion, agitation, memory issues, and am struggling to concentrate and make decisions. The dishes are piling up. I have to go back to work in a week. I'm trying really hard not to take a dose, because although it's not addictive, the withdrawal almost makes me miss it. It's also worth mentioning that I tapered down to 25mg before going cold turkey. I have missed higher doses before and experienced nausea and discomfort the following day, but I'm currently about a week into stopping a low dose and am sick of being sick.
Omg me too. My doc switched me just had me switch to another med cold turkey. I have weaned off of Xanax cold turkey a couple months ago my doctor sucks I've been through Effexor withdrawal which is compared to heroin and I feel the worst right now I'm cycling like crazy too
I’m going through seroquel withdrawals even after tapering for two weeks. How long did it take you to start feeling better again? I’m two weeks out from stopping it and I’m basically still bed ridden due to the withdrawal symptoms
I came off Serequil! Withdrawal was awful. Once that went away I felt so much better. Serequil hurt my energy and took away my enjoyment of life. I didn't want sex with beautiful women. Serequil made me sleep eat and it was sugar I wanted! I gained weight. This drug is not worth the Risk!! You will sleep your life away and be groggy and a blank person. Withdrawal was bad migraine headaches, felt like I had the Flu! It was awful for the first week. I pushed through it and it was so worth it. I got my life back. Say no to Serequil or work with your doctor to taper off it. Once i was taking 600mg at night. I went down to 25mg and decided to stop before going down to 10mg. It is always gonna be hard. Fight through it. The withdrawal goes away and you will come alive again. Serequil just makes you a blahh person!!
This TICKS ME OFF!!! the psychiatrist has me started at 25 mg because he started me at50 I said that’s too strong went down to 25 because a manic and then moved up to 50 and now I went down to 25 for a few days trying to get off Seroquel so I thought that’s probably enough and had very much flu like symptoms. My body was so inflamed inflammation was crazy and I felt like I had the flu so I got back on the Seroquel 25 mg and trying to wean myself off. I’d rather just deal with the maniac and take anxiety medication. Tonight I took half of the of the 25 mg 12.5 Why do psychiatrist prescribed that? It’s like they just wanna hear your issues get you the medication and get you out of the office and they don’t think about the side effects but I tell him no I’m not taking this. No, I’m not taking that and this time I thought well I’ll try the Seroquel because mania is so detrimental to me
Dude, this happened to me! I was not psychotic, or manic, I just had sleeping problems due to drinking. and since tapering off seroquel I have the absolute worst mania spikes, anxiety I've experienced I believe (went through alcohol detox cold turkey years ago) To me, the mania in itself and sudden dopamine reuptake is SO scary, it's overwhelming, I want to tell people how crazy this is but they inevitably end up seeing that im manic and then I get more paranoid. This shit is the worst, but I'm determined to make it through to the other side. Doing a 50mg/25mg/12.5mg split possibly in sections of 1-2 weeks. I'm almost at 50. Thank you so much for the information my friend
Im cleaning my entire apartment, its nutz. I sweat for 3 nights straight. I laid in bed like i was sick. I went to irder my seroquel you know....like cuz i thought id never sleep again. Fuck any body else abuse their seroquels when your depressed?
Definitely wasnt my brightest move going cold turkey....ween off...cuz i still am withdrawing.but i look at the fresh script i picked up and think HELL NO ...i got seven days....my place was totaly a mess x two. I guess some time ago i let tne seroquels tell me...that shit will be there when you wake up. Not a fuctioning withdraw. Smdh i am smoking some weedforcing my self to clean till im not embarrassed anymore
Question : Is anybody having chest pains and more panic attacks on this medication? I am and have to go get an ECG, I had no heart problems before starting this medication. Is anyone having problems like these ??
I'm 6 days cold turkey from this poison I wasn't on it for more than a month and it has a nasty effect just trying to get off it this soon. I'd rather deal with my crazies naturally then be medicated personal choice tho.
1:45 ⚠️ Neuroadaptation the drug itself could actually create psychotic features in someone who was not....5:49 that is one of the potential side effects of this drug to permanently mess someone up
Please tell me if this could happen after taking 4 bills during only one week? I'm freaking out! I used it because I couldn't sleep and now I'm silently dying inside. I had insomnia like a normal one.. I went to a therapist and he fucking prescribed it from the first session!!
@@ahmadyahyal Hi. The chances of having any kind of permanent damage from one week of seroquel use is quite small. Quit taking the seroquel (as I'm sure you already have), pick another therapist, and try taking at times a herbal and/or melatonin supplement when you can't sleep. If your anxiety is a regular problem a paleo diet can help along with doing cognitive therapy with someone you trust and respect. Daily, higher dosages of a quality omega 3 supplement may also help.
@@TheHUhelps Thanks! Yep I stopped that medication the moment I read about it's side effects, even though it helps lots of people it's not for me. But wth! Doctors should be very well educated before pushing these pills
My psychiatrist put me on this because adderall was causing insomnia. I stopped taking it two days ago because I was tired of being groggy all the time and started experiencing psychosis so looked this up. IM Lucky I found this video after only 2 months of taking it instead of down the road. Just flushed my pills down the toilet. I already got a Xanax dependency, I can’t handle both.
they really need to stop overmedicating people. I took setraline on and off for years. It works for me. doctor tried other anti-depressants but I just push for more therapy instead. I had a psychotic break before I was put on quetiapine/seroquel but I tell you what after 8 years of being on it my big stupid brain started to override it! It's a great anti-psychotic/sedative in the short term but in the long term your brain will find a way around it and if your bio-physiology doesn't like it you are screwed. My body seems to tolerate medication well but my bid stupid brain is neurodivergent and will find every which way to diverge from the bio-chemistry of the drug. My neurodivergent brain is happy on psychotherapy though. Lol! It can't override therapy skills. So I'm sticking with psychotherapy from now on and drugs only in a short term emergency on a low dose and not more than 2 types of drugs at once!!! Addiction runs in my family....now I know why....their big stupid brain won't shut up and no one taught them how to make it calm the f down without drugs/substances.
I ended up in the hospital due to my ex husband's emotional, verbal, and narcissistic abuse. The doctors prescribed me seroquel because they diagnosed me with bipolar. I was NEVER bipolar in my life. Plus I feel that EVERYONE in life has ups and downs does not mean your bipolar. Now I am trying to get off this and it's very difficult
If anyone could elaborate on how they managed to get off their seroquel that would be super helpful. Please explain what your taper schedule was and what you experienced in withdrawal etc. I would love to hear anyone else’s experiences. I’m in the process of getting off myself.
Only from others I've heard they shave the tablets on a percentage . Using microscales. Fir instance you could shave 10 percent every week or two weeks. It's trial and error. I'm no expert just read up on what works for others.
@@marissakr thank Christ you replied recently, I'm withdrawing from it ATM and was looking for answers. But for the love of shit, don't shave/split/crush the XR pills, it turns them into IR, and if youve never had the instant releases then it's pretty much just rufies Im on 50mg ATM though down from 300mg 3 months ago, so the tapering (2 weeks - 1 month on each dose, pretty much whenever after 2 weeks you feel better) for me was: 300mg, 200mg, 150mg, 100mg, 50mg (currently)....don't know what dose I'll have after this Feel free to ask any things you want answered, cos it's been like 4 years on it for me, but ye the withdrawals on this last decrease have been hell, the other decreases were barely noticeable
@@THEedcbb3 I was on a 50-75 mg dose for about 7 years just for sleep. And let me tell you it was hell even getting off that amount. I’m actually done my taper now. When I got down to 25 mg I did end up cutting the pills into quarters cuz I didn’t know what else to do. So I did a quarter pill reduction each week. And made it down to nothing! I’m still having insomnia though and this was a year ago that I got off. I just remember sitting at my work desk sweating and shaking praying I would get thru it. But now I can’t sleep and I’m exhausted all the time 😔. I’m so sorry you’re going thru the same thing. It’s hell on earth.
Presently I’m doing 50 mg of Q and 300 mg of 5htp before bed. Dropping by 25 mg each week and adding 100mg of the 5htp....in two to three weeks, I’ll be off the Q, hopefully. It’s working so far. Better sleeps
Prescribed for sleep: When I was truck driving my hrs were almost from midnight to 4am in which we had to get up and get ready, and drive till we were done. Then in 2015, when I was no longer working, I have prescribed it for my sleep problems.. Within 15-20 minutes it would knock me out, but effects would make me tired into next day. Very potent. So I was switched to Ambien... I had issues because of the hrs that I worked. Sometimes I'm up and almost any hr of the night or getting up and can't sleep, but then end up sleeping during the day at various hrs.
it is a very weird thing for me I have anxiety issues very severe ones and the only drug from all that has helped is Seroquel but it does have tremendous side effects in the domain of anger I sometimes feel like a steam engine inside and when time passes I also feel fear and guilt
I am diagnosed with BiPolar-1 and CPTSD. To say that I used to be highly unstable, emotionally and behaviourally, would be a massive understatement. I also have a near psychotic aversion to sleep; more than simple insomnia. I have been on 600mg of Quetiapine/Seroquel for around 13yrs now. My psychiatrists put me through the usual mill of drugs that were worse than the disease over several decades. I finally had Seroquel suggested to me and my first 50mg tablet flattened me out for an entire weekend. My BP1 and CPTSD disturbances settled down, virtually overnight. I would describe the state I was in as 'feeling normal' for the first time in my life. That sensation of normality lingers still. I have no particular side-effects to speak of. So, having watched this video and read my way through the comments, I'm wondering about the people having trouble cutting back on Seroquel. To be honest, I wonder if they're having trouble because the dose they're on is actually the RIGHT DOSE for them? Most have described the sensation of their underlying condition rearing it's head again, and I thought that was unremarkable. I was thinking it would be the same as if I had a toothache but cut back on the dosage of pain killers. With respect, am I wrong in this thinking, and why? Thanks 🙂
I'm diagnosed with Borderline/emotionally unstable personality disorder. I believe that I have complex childhood PTSD and Autism Spectrum Disorder. The most quetiapine/Seroquel I ever took was 200mg. I had a traumatic end to my former marriage and ended up being homeless three times in a year. This led to a psychotic break. At the time of this psychotic break, I was on zero medication. I just wasn't sleeping. The chronic insomnia and lack of therapy cause the psychotic break. I've just over 90 days off of quetiapine but I'm currently on Zoplicone every other day but my doctor and I are going to try more intensive sleep skills to try to get my brain to re-wire. I would have never come off quetiapine without psychotherapy. the lack of sleep and other withdrawals are brutal and it's only by using therapy skills that I'm able to stay grounded. I have a lot of support, clinical, employment and from other mental health peers. I took Quetiapine/Seroquel for 8 years. I'm definitely not against medication but it really is a short-term solution and people should be intensive therapy....especially if they have a severe life-threatening diagnosis.....long term psychotherapy is the only way forward I believe.
The Doctor who gave me the first Script 3 months ago said to me as he pushed it across. "You will find these are good." Now I know why he looks to be in a daze most of the time and sort of shuffles about. Absolute crap drug for the average person.
Same! I was prescribed 800mg at 15 for insomnia! It made me gain weight like you wouldn't believe. Finally I'm done it has caused me more heartache then any relief. Goodluck to you
@BMW F25 X3 R Spec Thank you for responding. I'm taking Quetiapine 50mg at night for sleep. Doctor told me the medication doesn't add weight. But it leads to more eating/cravings for Carbohydrates. We'll see lol
I tapered off of seroquel and have severe stomach pain every morning. Blood tests are normal. I don’t understand the correlation but as far as my feelings…I have them again which is great!
Im scared. I take 400mg of seroquel and last night was my last pill. I didnt go to pick up my refill and honestly i want off this med NOW. I probably wont sleep and the withdraws are going to make me second guess this first step of going cold turkey, but i want my life back. Hallucinating and psychosis...yeah... Just wish i knew a doctor as a friend instead of this idea i have in my head that says they are in cohoots with big pharm and just want to dummy me down. I am becoming more aware of this ciming to terms with "them"& "us". May my higher source guide me and keep me strong. Thanks for bringing the statement death is sleep also as good as seroquel.
@@T.Metzger thanks for asking cuz im really doing this! I was prescribed this a couple of weeks ago for my anxiety, everything I've read and now watched has made me petrified to try! I told my Docter I don't feel right taking it and that I've never had trouble sleeping, so don't want to suddenly have to rely on a pill to sleep. She is constantly urging me to try saying it's only a low dose and i can come off it of I'm not happy with it . But I can't bring myself to do it .
I can’t tell you what to do but I wish I never got on this med. I’m getting pins and needles and muscle twitches snd I feel like my anxiety is worse. I went down to 25 mg. But the anxiety is so bad now I’m trying to figure out ent to do for it naturally. I’m going to get off after the new year
i beg to differ i was on 1600 mg of seroquel and it made me feel high im now on only 25 and 50 mg and it helps me sleep but something about it is messed up always leaves you feeling fogged in i got them all klonipin trazadone in the long run seroquel helps me sleep best but at what cost
I've been on it 12.5mg to 25mg daily for about 6 years. This drug makes me much less prone to anger, much less nervous during the day. (I'm a very very shy person) I can truly think straight without being too nervous. In stead of losing motivation for things, I actually gained much motivation for many things since my fear and nervousness no longer get in the way of the things I wanna do. It also makes me sleep like a baby. I tried to get off it. IMPOSSIBLE. I'll be super nervous during the day again. I'll stay up all night. Yes, ALL NIGHT. It's hell. I'm still on it, 12.5mg to 25mg. I guess everyone is different. This drug works for me just fine.
If you still suffer from shyness I recommend seeing a therapist trained in cognitive behavioural therapy. I was cured in about seven sessions even though I was hopeless.
My doctor gave me this cos I had trouble sleeping. Gained a tolerance fell back into not sleeping. Asked for more or something else. No response. One night couldn’t sleep took extra and got reliant on 100mg Now I’m hooked and the DR said you should quit and kicked his feet up.
Currently going through withdraw from this medicine and had to look up how to help because Ive never felt so awful. This just scared me lmao. Glad im getting off of it.

Could you share more about your experience and how much you were on? For how long? How are you tapering? I’m trying to get off mine as well and I’m terrified. I’ve been taking 50mg for 6 years and I’m now on day 3 of 25 mgs and I don’t notice any withdrawal yet.
@Vivian Robinson That is severe. I would strongly suggest finding a naturopath. Also, while I rarely suggest drugs, maybe something light to get you thru this as a bridge might be in order. Gabapentin is often used temporarily.
@Vivian Robinson I would reinstate then taper off. Sleep deprivation will kill you. Use the one drug to get off the drug you were on. Like you would probably a benzo. Only advice. I'm not qualified.
I’m 19 and was an addict and am now getting off seriquil, I must say meth was right up their with the withdrawal symptoms. You really feel like death and can’t sleep and can’t eat when you stop taking it.
Seroquel has ruined my natural circadian rhythm... I only sleep 2-3 hrs at a time and about every 4th or 5th day I sleep 12-14 hrs straight. There is no schedule or way to predict when that 12-14 hr block will hit me. It could be 3am could be 5:30 in the afternoon...other body rhythms are disrupted too... I was so over medicated I was such a zombie...
I’m choosing to come off my 325mg daily dose, I work night shift and lately all I’ve been doing is sleeping all day where I’ve been on it 5 years and I had got myself into a good routine and now I’m back to sleeping all the time. Yet I was told I was only given this to help me sleep when I was diagnosed with BPD and I had no problem before with sleep. Don’t know why I was put on this :(
My Dr. Took me off 25 mg seroquel and switched to 7.5 mg mirtazapine. Seroquel quit working for my insomnia. My insomnia started a month ago. Switch is enabling me to sleep once again.
K That’s my question. I can’t take this crap. I am soooo dizzy I can’t stand up. I am in a fog and can’t think. This drug is not good. There’s a better alternative I think he said but didn’t say what they are. Help.
The more I learn about anti-psychotic medications, the more I am prone to shape an opinion that today's psychiatry does not have pharmaceutical means to treat chronic psychiatric conditions. Cognitive behavioral therapy appears to be the only way to go. Question is: How come the CBT is not taught as a treatment of choice?
@Beachen Sea Glass the reason why I got on the drug is because I had a terrible sleep problem where I could not sleep at all. This drug helped. I’m so afraid that if I stop the no sleep thing will come back. Have you got your sleep back?
@Vivian Robinson you are really correct this medicine need to banned.. I am having anxiety disorder and my doctor prescribed me this medicine I am taking this medicine more than 2 years now I can not sleep without this medicine. and this medicine side effect and withdrawal symptoms are just like as hell.
GALVATRON 1986 let me tell you that I haven’t experienced insomnia as bad as I am now due to trying to get myself off of this medication, I used to take up to 150 mg every night and now I’m taking only 50 mg, this doesn’t help (at all). It’s either my body is so dependent or I just need to slowly get myself off of it by taking a less amount every week, you can’t go cold turkey...
@@abbycard019 Its like anti-depressants - they are all "non-addictive" you just have terrible withdrawrals.. People should just be allowed to take benzos, the doctors need to relax their outlook on this (in the UK - its near impossible to get a script). Sure they are addictive too and have terrible withdrawrals too but are less damaging overall imo.
I was prescribed seroquel about a year and a half ago when i was like 16, i started at like 300mg, now im down to like 25. there were times where i ran out and couldn't take it, and within a day or 2 of not taking it, i could already feel the withdrawals. it was fuckin insane. i would have insomnia, nausea, and a huge loss of appetite. i was able to sleep completely fine on my own before it, but now ive become dependent on it for sleep. i once couldnt sleep for 72 hours bc i didnt have anymore. lol
I’ve been going to a psychiatrist for insomnia given 450mg seroquel at night then switched to elavil 50 mg for sleep stopping the seroquel abruptly and now have a headache that will not stop nor can I sleep. Make sure U all don’t stop abruptly and as Ur Dr for enough to taper off over time.
I had been taking temazepam 30 mg for sleep 15 years without problems by my primary who retired the psychiatrist told me it was too dangerous however the seroquel causes more unsteadiness than anything I have ever used for insomnia. Being on Seroquel has also been like living in a place of no hope or drive to do anything but sit in front of a tv.
I was put on this drug for 10 years for insomnia. I’m not coming off it and struggling so bad. I really hope that I can get healthy again. I hate doctors
What supplementation for withdrawals do you recommend? My mom has gone to the ER the last four nights in a row with painful TD. She says come what may she’s never taking it again. She was on a 50mg dose for maybe two years. HELP!
I'm so lost 😞 I've been on 300 MG for 11 years now and I feel like my mind is falling apart and so is my body. I sweat profusely from the smallest bit of exercise, severe bouts of mania, literally no happiness from within, as in I can't feel pleasure and use drugs, sex and food to feel anything. I've woken up with severe akathisia to where I freaked and went to the ER dozens of times now. But I have ptsd from a prolonged bout of sleeplessness and any disruption causes severe suicidal ideation. I feel like I'm stuck. 👍

look this is my opinion on seroquel. i was on seroquel from the age of 14 till i turned 18 and choose not to continue taking that medication and its been the best choose ive ever made. i usto be on 100 mg in the morning 100 mg for lunch and 400 mg at night, also not including all the the other meds i took and this was not me just taking cus i wanted too this was doctors orders i suffer from adhd bi polor and ptsd i was on so much medication during like i said the ages of 14 till i turned 18 i think seroquel is short term fix but with long term side effects that could damage yourself i couldnt stand being tired all day it was not in enjoyble way of living life and not at a young age i felt drugged up most of the day. i no longer take any medication i do smoke medical marijuana which i live in california and ive found thats save my life and done wonders for me but i cant say it will for the next person

@@SlabHouse805 ah I appreciate the advice. I used to love smoking before I started taking seroquel but when I smoke on seroquel I get really dizzy and naseous, I wish that was an option for me. I’m glad to hear you managed to come off of them so long ago, I’m still trying to come off after taking seroquel for about 2 years
Sorry you got thrown into that firestorm of drugs at such a young age. No 14 year old needs a cocktail like that. I'm glad you're off all of it. It gives people hope hearing your story. I was on benzos, Seroquel, and gabapentin. Now all I take is cannabis. Indica edibles are great for people with insomnia
Right I take 300mg a day (Not going to say what for) but lately when I take it I get VERY BAD heart palpitations, light headedness and a feeling like I'm going to die... I've not managed to get in contact with a doctor yet so I don't know why?! 😫 Any help would be great
Same thing is happening to me. I have been taking Seroquel for six years. Been taking 350mg for almost two years. A few months ago my heart just started beating extremely fast and sent me into a panic attack. I thought I was going to die. I haven’t been the same since and now the thought of taking Seroquel sends me into a panic. To the point of having panic attacks. The sedation has become too much for me as well. As soon as it hits me I feel like I am going to die. I don’t know what to do and I feel stuck. My doctor just tells me to lower the dose but I am still scared.
I went cold turkey (Docotor recomandation) 11 weeks ago. The first 4 weeks were pure hell now after 11 weeks im still suffering from severe insomnia overstimmulation and still some strange sensations in gut and belly region. Overall its getting gradually better. But im still scared that this nightmare never gonna end. Im greatful for any advice or recomandation🙏
Really good. I would add however, that users of especially Class A illegal drugs use it, not for a high or 'buzz', but for withdrawal in-between hits, mainly Heroin. (Suzy Q)
What would u suggest instead of seroquel for BIpolar 1??? Im curious. I take 100 mg. Have for almost 2 years now and am pretty dang stable but it does worry me(side effects)

7:15 Hi, I used 25mg of sorquel for insomnia or fear of not sleeping, the therapist prescribed it and he hasn't diagnosed me with bipolar or major depressive disorder, I was able to sleep the first night for 6 hours.. and then I stopped using it because I thought I'm ok. The next night I had that fear of not falling asleep, I doubled the dosage (50mg) and I absolutely had the worst night of my life.. I couldn't sleep and I developed this burning sensation in my left frontal lobe that's stayed with me until now.. and I'm really really scared.. any tips
Getting off Seraquel is like crack. Sweats, chills, no sleep for days, emotional…things, anger…. I tried to sleep but I was “restless.” That’s kinda like saying the sun is hot. I could not lay down in comfort. Being on it is amazingly peaceful but I can’t think more than 12 minutes. Im actually not against it but it’s brutal.
I've been on seroquel for 7 years now and have started noticing reduced capacity to concentrate, study and remember things. I've only been taking 12.5mg for sleep but am still worried I may not be able to reverse any brain damage that has occured. Are the effects reversible if I stop now considering my low dose?
Why does seroquel give me a feeling of paralysis and why is it that I can't sleep I have been taking seroquel 300mg for the past four years for bipolar disorder.
maybe you have the wrong combination of meds i also have bipolar and take depakote with the seroquel ive been doing this since late 2003 sometimes it takes awhile to figure out the right combo but im no shrink lol
It used to take me 3 hrs to fall asleep after taking seroquel. As soon as I gave up smoking the seroquel became super sedating and would knock me out after 40 mins. Try give up smoking and u will feel a big difference in its efficacy
I have never seen a medication as strong as this one. Since I'm in hypomania, my doctor switched me to insomnia 25mg. I felt very bad: totally sedated, without concentration, sluggishness in the body, I slept for several hours straight, difficulty getting out of bed, tremors in my hands. The impression is that I had used a heavy drug
If you've only been using quietiapine for a month and haven't had any adverse effects when taking it you are most likely not going to have issues when tapering it. It's the people that take it for years that get the extreme symptoms. Talk with your doctor about how to taper off of it.
I was on 100mg for 14 months. I did a quick taper over 2 weeks and that was a huge mistake. It was the most brutal thing I have ever gone through. I was wishing for death while going through withdrawals. It took about 9-10 months just to feel slightly normal again.
Help my husband is on 500mg for about 18 months due to psychosis from stopping alcohol. he was put on Wellbutrin 6 months ago now he is having possible seizures were four days off of Wellbutrin sadly still having seizures. Please help we also need to wean from Seroquel. Please help.
I suffer from treatment resistant depression, anxiety and panic disorder for 30yrs. I acquired Tardive dyskinea from long term use of Abilify. I was immediately taken off all dopamine meds. I have be symtom free for 30 yrs until 6mos ago when diagnosed w/ TD. We tried TMS and that didn't have any effect. Now i am on Lexapro, Ritalin, Klonopin and gabapentin. This has helped with anxiety and panic but nothing at all for depression we think it is a dopamine problem so the doc has prescribed 5mg Seroquel to not aggravate the TD. Could i please have your opinion?
Will add a comment soon haven't slept in 3 days , been on Seroquel for 10yrs at 600mg a day originally for sleep been dropped from 600mgs to 100mgs in 2 weeks, I'm a total wreck, everything you talked about sir, I've been through and going through, but have been told by so called professional's that it should be out of my system and that Seroquel does not cause any withdrawal symptoms. So much more to say but it's taken me ages just to type this.. Feeling soooooo wierd and exhausted 💩💩
@Steve I was on 350mg a day then dropped it months ago to 100mg a day no problems then 100 to 50 no problems 50 to 25 for 8 days had really bad nausea and stomach pain so just went 25 to 0 then about 5 days of nausea trouble sleeping stomach pain then after that been like 2 weeks am sleeping fine I do still have nausea but that's from a gi problem
@Steve I have really bad anxiety so I had xanax to help me only took 1 to 3 mgs a day tho. Best advice ween off it with advice from a Dr and when you think you are ready for a week or 2 of feeling shit give it a crack with no seroquel at all . Weening off clonazepam was 1000 times worse. Good luck with it mate

Great its been prescribed to me for anexiety and its primarily a antipsychotic it's worse then benzodiazepines in my opinion I was temporarily on lorazepam had no problem comming off but if I try and stop taking quetiapine or for some reason miss a dose I have withdraws ,cant sleep become manic ,cant eat.prefusely sweating and become extremely anxious I dont recommend taking this or stopping cold turkey if you have the choice .great video thanks
What would you recommend for panic attacks over night I was prescribed this drug seroquel but I’m afraid to take it because I know how strong and dangerous these drug as can be. Is there anything else I can take to help me sleep all night long?
Well I would suggest that you get a full Naturopathic workup. Sometimes these things require diet and exercise, and other times they require supplementation. You just don’t really know in a text conversation
O.k.do what medication is the best for sleeping 😌😴.I'm on Seroquel and fluvoxamine for sleeping problem with my cholesterol I sugar go so high like I can't believe????
I've been a heavy seroquel user prescribed 300mg instant release seroquel even 300mg was no longer enough I started taking 600mg and then 1200mg of it, I have run out and haven't picked up a repeat yet and I can honestly say the withdrawals are so bad, sleep for me has become impossible despite actively trying to sleep, throwing up non stop and constant hot saliva coming up throat. It is hell and considering quitting altogether after watching this video.

I got maybe 20-30 min rest after that, after 45 days I still averaged about 1 hr of sleep per night, some nights I didn't sleep at all. I had severe akathisia, psychosis, and I'm surprised I didn't kill myself. That was because my counselor in rehab lied 3 times and told me he sent my release of information to probation... so I got a probably violation and thrown in jail after completing treatment...
DO NOT TAKE SEROQUEL FOR PTSD. I was totally fine on long term zolpidem for night terrors. I don't take it unless I need to prevent my night terrors that act up when I'm stressed. (i.e., I don't take it during vacations when my stress level is low and I plan on stopping completely when I'm done with school.) It is a little harder to sleep for 2-3 nights when I stop, but overall it was fine. No big deal. I stop for about 1 month in the winter and 2 in the summer; it works out great. My psychiatrist thought it would be a good idea to swap me from zolpidem to quetiapine because quetiapine isn't scheduled like zolpidem. It's has not been fun. I was nauseated all the time and I found out my liver enzymes were out of whack. Sure, it helped me sleep, but did nothing for my night terrors. Just like before zolpidem, I'd wake up panicking, not knowing where I was, and I was a danger to anyone sharing my bed. I stopped taking it after a couple months, and now my insomnia is worse than ever. I'm still fighting it. Instead of the 2-3 days of slightly worse sleep like when I stop zolpidem, it's been over a week so far! How long is this going to last? This is awful! My summer so far has just been horrible Seroquel withdrawals. I'm just so baffled as to why this seen by regulatory agencies as safer than zolpidem, which I've never had any negative side effects on and came off easily.
Wish my psychiatrist was half as informed as this man
It is sad
Wow, thank you! I actually hear that way too much. Psychiatrists not knowing the pharmacodynamics and kinetics of what they are prescribing is, well, negligent.

I was prescribed seroquel, for my 1 and only manic episode at age 52. I struggled for years with difficulty sleeping. Seroquel has brought me peace, but at some cost and I want off. I truly am scared to rock the boat. It is a big decision
And how much are you on now?
How long are you on it?
I’ve cut myself down to 50 mg per day. When I went down to 25 mg, I became manic and depressed at the same time and felt awful.
thank you for this, I have been on 900 mg of serequel for close to 10 years. Thank you a thousand times over.
caused my diabetes..im now injecting insulin twice a day..been off it 5 months .never felt so GOOD
900mg? My god!! I hope you get back to some normality
i'm withdrawling of seroquel as well.

How are you doing? I'm about to start this journey too.. I hear you..
Yup..your inner child...see crappy childhood fairy.
I’m gonna jump in here if you guys don’t mind, I’m feeling the need to taper myself
At 15 months off Seroquel. Finally starting to sleep again. Was told this drug was safe by all my doctors. I avoid doctors now....
Wow. How long were you on the drug for and how many mgs? I’ve been on 50mg for my insomnia for about 6 years now and I’m currently in the process of tapering off. I’m just trying to find as much info as I can about the best way to go about it. I too was told the drug was completely safe and would have no issues getting off.
This shit has fucked my brain so bad over the past 3 years of taking it
I'm 7-8 months off of it and my natural circadian rhythm is completely destroyed...so this gives me some hope it will get better...
Hey im now around 2and a half years on seraquel( for sleep)
I was instituted for depression and suicidal , not bi polar not scizo not anything just on the spectrome of spme sort of personal dissorder and i was a zombie for 4 months they justpumped me with300 mg of seraquel , 100mg morning lunch and evening , now ive went through some changes when i got out they switched it to 300 XR then( after a few months) to 200XR and 100 regular and then like 8months ago to 100mg and 100XR but at the same time ( at night) now about 4days ago idecided that because im still on thewaves of good ( relative good)and bad that this thing isnt helping so its time to try somthing else and got my psychiatrist to lower this thing sothe 100XR is off the table and wow what a dopamine rush actually thought i was manic for a while( never been manic b4)
And he the DR gave me zyprexa to help gettting of seraquel and maybe transition to it which after one time of taking i said fuck no , side affects to much for me aint happening so will see what will happen .
But dam i thought it was for my depression not for sleep but no one thought to tell me and i like a sheep blindedly followed orders.well not anymore time to get my life back
When seroquel was increased I lost all my emotions. Dead inside.
Did they come back?
Are you still that way?
I like it because I’m an emotional person and I don’t want to feel anymore.
It gave me depersonalization (out of body experience) and I am due to come off them for good 6 years of this venom.
Sean McKenna what was your initial tapering dose and what was your taper schedule?
I'm going to start Seroquel today and not going to lie. I'm nervous now. I don't want to go through this.
Omg me too. My doc switched me just had me switch to another med cold turkey. I have weaned off of Xanax cold turkey a couple months ago my doctor sucks I've been through Effexor withdrawal which is compared to heroin and I feel the worst right now I'm cycling like crazy too
did you make it dude?
How long did it take before the withdrawal went away and how long were you on it for?
thanks for sharing...I'm curious, did the insomnia go away?
Lyle is making the most sense out of all the people in this field now
This TICKS ME OFF!!! the psychiatrist has me started at 25 mg because he started me at50 I said that’s too strong went down to 25 because a manic and then moved up to 50 and now I went down to 25 for a few days trying to get off Seroquel so I thought that’s probably enough and had very much flu like symptoms. My body was so inflamed inflammation was crazy and I felt like I had the flu so I got back on the Seroquel 25 mg and trying to wean myself off. I’d rather just deal with the maniac and take anxiety medication. Tonight I took half of the of the 25 mg 12.5
Why do psychiatrist prescribed that? It’s like they just wanna hear your issues get you the medication and get you out of the office and they don’t think about the side effects but I tell him no I’m not taking this. No, I’m not taking that and this time I thought well I’ll try the Seroquel because mania is so detrimental to me
Worst experience of my life coming off this, but I did it, now I have to clean up the mess
Just take your time because the shots crazy you say so many stupid things
You got this. Just understanding what part of this is simply withdrawal and a slow thoughtful taper will get you there.
Thanks.. but is it possible to develop bipolar or mainc periods for ever if I tapered off of it?
Question : Is anybody having chest pains and more panic attacks on this medication? I am and have to go get an ECG, I had no heart problems before starting this medication. Is anyone having problems like these ??
Thank you sir.
I'm 6 days cold turkey from this poison I wasn't on it for more than a month and it has a nasty effect just trying to get off it this soon. I'd rather deal with my crazies naturally then be medicated personal choice tho.
1:45 ⚠️ Neuroadaptation the drug itself could actually create psychotic features in someone who was not....5:49 that is one of the potential side effects of this drug to permanently mess someone up
I love the snips!
Please tell me if this could happen after taking 4 bills during only one week? I'm freaking out! I used it because I couldn't sleep and now I'm silently dying inside. I had insomnia like a normal one.. I went to a therapist and he fucking prescribed it from the first session!!
oh god. i’m someone who doesn’t have psychotic features so now i’m super nervous
But flushing down the toilet gets into everyone's water in the end ! They have places to donate your unused medications properly.
they really need to stop overmedicating people.
Thank you for this my prescriber put me on these and I have been scared to even try them. I feel like this saved me a lot of future troubles.
Its terrible
If anyone could elaborate on how they managed to get off their seroquel that would be super helpful. Please explain what your taper schedule was and what you experienced in withdrawal etc. I would love to hear anyone else’s experiences. I’m in the process of getting off myself.
Only from others I've heard they shave the tablets on a percentage . Using microscales. Fir instance you could shave 10 percent every week or two weeks. It's trial and error. I'm no expert just read up on what works for others.
@@waynegrow thank you!
@@marissakr thank Christ you replied recently, I'm withdrawing from it ATM and was looking for answers. But for the love of shit, don't shave/split/crush the XR pills, it turns them into IR, and if youve never had the instant releases then it's pretty much just rufies
Im on 50mg ATM though down from 300mg 3 months ago, so the tapering (2 weeks - 1 month on each dose, pretty much whenever after 2 weeks you feel better) for me was: 300mg, 200mg, 150mg, 100mg, 50mg (currently)....don't know what dose I'll have after this
Feel free to ask any things you want answered, cos it's been like 4 years on it for me, but ye the withdrawals on this last decrease have been hell, the other decreases were barely noticeable
Better sleeps
respect for making the video
Same here
And me.
"You will find these are good."
Now I know why he looks to be in a daze most of the time and sort of shuffles about.
Absolute crap drug for the average person.
I've been on 800mg for 8 years and my weight gain has been crazy, I doubled my weight in the 8 years. I'm going to lower my dose.
Same! I was prescribed 800mg at 15 for insomnia! It made me gain weight like you wouldn't believe. Finally I'm done it has caused me more heartache then any relief. Goodluck to you
@BMW F25 X3 R Spec Did you put on weight?

Good for you... your in a very low dose...I'm in 12.5 mg planing to go down 6mg
Seroquel would make me spontaneously wake me up in my sleep, several times out of breath and a bit shaken like i fell off a cliff it was an odd feeling i did not sleep well
I was prescribed this a couple of weeks ago for my anxiety, everything I've read and now watched has made me petrified to try!

It gives a weird weak feeling I know . I love it though. Rub your feet while sleeping
I think the average is 2 years.
This is very insightful.

My doctor gave me this cos I had trouble sleeping.
Gained a tolerance fell back into not sleeping. Asked for more or something else.
No response.

@Beachen Sea Glass hi, try "celestial seasonings" brand tea, sleep. (Light blue label) I'm on strong sleep med& this tea is awesome.
Don’t know why I was put on this :(
Are you tapering or going cold turkey? How are you sleeping?
Gradually tapering is not going well for me. Is there a temporary replacement that is less harmful?
My Dr. Took me off 25 mg seroquel and switched to 7.5 mg mirtazapine. Seroquel quit working for my insomnia. My insomnia started a month ago. Switch is enabling me to sleep once again.
What’s a good alternative???

The more I learn about anti-psychotic medications, the more I am prone to shape an opinion that today's psychiatry does not have pharmaceutical means to treat chronic psychiatric conditions. Cognitive behavioral therapy appears to be the only way to go. Question is: How come the CBT is not taught as a treatment of choice?
www.alternativetomeds.com/blog/antipsychotic-alternatives/
No money in CBT. Plus I think it's outdated. Big money in big pharma.

I had been taking temazepam 30 mg for sleep 15 years without problems by my primary who retired the psychiatrist told me it was too dangerous however the seroquel causes more unsteadiness than anything I have ever used for insomnia. Getting off all these meds soon. I'm on serequel since 7 years and I'm fed up
Good luck
i went from 125 mg down to 25 mg with loads of melatonin to cope with the insomnia withdrawls, next week im down to 0 and then BYE insomnia
@@princessyenio how long did you take to taper off it and what was widhrawl like for you
I'm on 200 mg if I taper off could I take melontin to sleep???
I wish you well. All these drugs suck
been on 100mg seroquel for a month for sleep. any suggestions on taper. is this long enough for extreme symptoms
Hi. How about Lexotanil and Fluxoxetime for pannic/anxiety disorders? Thank you
Help my husband is on 500mg for about 18 months due to psychosis from stopping alcohol. he was put on Wellbutrin 6 months ago now he is having possible seizures were four days off of Wellbutrin sadly still having seizures.
Im not sure about your comparison of benzo addiction and anti-psychotic addiction.
Interesting, do explain?
Will add a comment soon haven't slept in 3 days , been on Seroquel for 10yrs at 600mg a day originally for sleep been dropped from 600mgs to 100mgs in 2 weeks, I'm a total wreck, everything you talked about sir, I've been through and going through, but have been told by so called professional's that it should be out of my system and that Seroquel does not cause any withdrawal symptoms.
So much more to say but it's taken me ages just to type this..
Feeling soooooo wierd and exhausted 💩💩
it has withdrawal symptoms 100% i would find a better doctor to help you, sorry to hear what you are going through
@Steve I'm fully over mine now and was worth it was only like 2 weeks of feeling crap was easier than I thought
@Steve why would I go back on that poison you don't know me mate
I have pretty wild mood swings and get filled with so much rage about my childhood. And have a difficult time managing stress where I quit every job in about 2 months. I don’t want medication. And have always thought of it as poison. What should I do? I’m starting therapy now
They gave my mother some in the hospital because she has dementia.....I think that is wrong.......what should dementia patients be given
Deffinately NOT seroquel. Wow that's actually insane
Is there anything else I can take to help me sleep all night long?
endep is a anti depressent supposed to help with sleep and anxiety depression etc. fuck taking seroquel for sleep
Well I would suggest that you get a full Naturopathic workup. Sometimes these things require diet and exercise, and other times they require supplementation. You just don’t really know in a text conversation
Is it good to give Seroquel for patients with Dementia?
No!
O.k.do what medication is the best for sleeping 😌😴.I'm on Seroquel and fluvoxamine for sleeping problem with my cholesterol I sugar go so high like I can't believe????
But what about Treatment Resistent Depression and Augmentation low dose? THx
I experienced headache & numbness in my face, how can I widraw? I cannot sleep without ds med. pls help
Now what you do for sleep??

After taking only 1/4th of what was prescribed I found myself so groggy, with vertigo debilitating... And even tho I slept, I suffered more symptoms of Debility and I need to find a way to rest and recover not be more poisned. I feel poisoned. How to I heal and detox.
I’m scared now... they have me on 100mg a night for sleep.... and they gave me 10mg of lexapro
GET OFF OF IT NOW. Im coming off of it after 10 years. I've ended up in the hospital just from my body going into full withdrawls and shock. I almost had a stroke.

What can I take for sleep and depression that is natural
Magnesium supplements helped me a bit
Smoke some good indica my guy
I only take 75mg twice a week maximum if I am seriously struggling with a bout of insomnia
thank you!
If I stop Seroquel cold turkey, I can’t sleep for weeks.
I've been off for about 8 months and yeah...my natural sleep pattern is completely destroyed...
I was taken off quetiapine, gabapentin 3600mg/day, and 24mg/day buprenorphine, 150mg/day bupropion, and I think doxepin, can't remember the dose, but I was awake for 20 days straight...
