I've stayed in the majority la zonas in Santo Domingo each area was great with an abundance of options of things to do, restaurants, stores etc. The few cons i have would be the power outages that take place periodically and the traffic particularly in the Distrito Nacional area which gave me PTSD.😫 But in all i love the city, the people, vibes and everything else it has to offer.🇩🇴🔥❤️

I think having a routine after you make the move is the important part. My parents retired there and they have already bought their home and land- so bills is mostly groceries, utilities, car bills and a small budget to go out of their neighborhood for trips. Is a wishful thinking for people like me who’s not there yet (age or money to be retire) as far as Wa Wa or Poppi- i move like a wa wa with poppi budget. 4:12

One of the best show for the year. James, how did you adjust with southern lifestyle in Alabama to a fast/furious, uplift lifestyle in Dominican Republic. I am working on that transition. Not yet decided. Grew up in Brooklyn, NY, I like the similarities. God Bless.

Really enjoy this video as usual. I could not wait to leave work; so I can watch it. Your so right about the fact that Dominicans are really sociable people. They will converse with you like both of you know each other for years. But Norberis your correct that us as English speakers are afraid to start a conversation. I am guilty of that a few times; only to realize that , that person speaks English. 😄😄😄. So far I have only experience a small fraction of the DR; but I would not give it up for no other place in the world. Except Jamaica of course, and that’s debatable 😄😄😄. Love the video for real. Everybody doesn't live in Los Angeles with a Mexican maid. Therefore I have been waiting for this subject, the lifestyle. Because a lot of us in US barely have time besides work. Glad for the decision to slightly go off script and mention realistically about the unrealistic $500 apartment budget that's furnished in a gated community and/or other amenities. Since foreign investment developers have been allowed to buy property for community development, those 1970 - 1999 prices are long gone because of the cost of materials and location. Labor is cheap, you just have to be on site as an overseer or you'll fall behind your deadline.
