Three film students vanish after traveling into a Maryland forest to film a documentary on the local Blair Witch legend, leaving only their footage behind.

Her final screams at the end are absolutely blood curdling, bone chilling genuinely frightening and terrifying.
If I am not mistaken in an interview, she had stated that her screams were genuine like she was absolutely terrified but also throughout the movie the guys who were behind making the movie were messing with the actors the whole time i.e., eating their food, making noises, etc.
Take it easy, will ya.
Horrorfying
It's been over 20 years since i first watched this movie and the way Michael stands motionless in the corner still creeps the hell out of me. I don't recall any other horror/thriller having the same effect after so many years. The sign of a great movie. They don't make em like they used to
Facts lmao
Bone-chilling. One of the best horror endings I've seen in a very long time.
As soon as Mike enters this basement, you can hear this low, atonal hum. I don’t know if it was just room tone from airflow in the basement or a deliberate choice on the director’s part, but man is it unnerving.
What it sound like?
First of its kind. Great movie. Thinking it was real in 1999, it amazed me.
Bro I just saw this movie for the first time yesterday at like 2 am. Love this movie so much already
2:01 “Heather!”
I really wanna know what the guy who played Mike was like when he was standing there hearing Heather’s screams
It would probably been a mannequin dressed up as Mike in that final scene.
@@clarkejoseph49 I think the actor said that the filmmakers grabbed him at that point (before his camera falls) so I'm assuming they told him to stand in the corner and do nothing.
3:49 shaggy what are you doing in the corner
I’m like scared man!
Zoiks!

The problem with this movie and all the "found footage" movies that came after is that it breaks the rule that has been proven countless in time in reality: the cameraman *_NEVER_* dies. Once the rule is broken, suspension of disbelief becomes impossible and the viewer realizes that what they are watching is just make believe.
Huh... both camera users die in this
Very good satire comment, you had me. Have a like.
@@MarcoAdventures 😂👌
Just an observation: So there are two cameras in this scene, his & hers. Hers has more whiteness brightness to it either flash or night vision, his is more colorful, warm.
At 3:25, his camera falls. At 3:26, scene switches back to her camera. However, you can clearly hear that her screams are from far away. So, is someone else holding her camera? OR, is this a 3rd camera held by their other buddy who vanished?
The audio is on his camera picking up her screams which is why it sounds far away at first.
In the 2nd movie, the blair witch mimics the voices of the victims, maybe that’s why?
it is her footage, but his camera's audio is playing. follow the scene as it switches from him to her in the basement. his audio never cuts and hers never turns back on. you can kinda tell when he puts some distance on her as he runs to the basement and her screams get distant.
If this is correct. (Just a theory) That was by my guess, Josh or the Witch.
The 16mm camera (B&W) doesn’t have its own sound, so anytime you see Mike have the sound equipment on him, he’s recording sound for that camera. The camcorder (color) has its own sound recorder. They overlay the sound from the camcorder over the 16mm footage a few times in the film, but it was most apparent here and, whether intentional or a happy accident, it was incredibly effective.
Terrifying ending.
I feel so bad for the people that didn't understand the movie. THAT is the only reason why they think is bullshit because this is scary as shit. IS PHSIYCOLOGICAL TERROR, WHAT DID YOU EXPECT TO SEE?, underrated masterpiece.
How can be a bad movie if without blood or showing anything, still scares people??
I didn’t want to see gore or anything to be scared, but the actual horror part of the movie was a B-plot.
@@jakedematteo2172
Do you want to know WHY this is scary if someone understand 100% the movie?.
This is the FEAR TO THE FEAR IT SELF and the WORST thing that you can fear, IS WHAT YOU CAN'T SEE. There is a SHE/HE/IT OR THEM outhere, watching you, lurking around you, hearing you, you are loosing your mind, freezing and hungry. This IS NOT THE FEAR OF THE DARKNESS, IS THE FEAR OF WHAT IS BEHIND THE DARKNESS. Is even worst than a killer because you at least recognize his voice or the way he looks. YOU ARE ALONE IN A FOREST KNOWING THAT WHATEVER IT IS, YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IS CAPABLE TO DO.
THAT IS WHY IS THE SCARIEST MOVIE EVER
@@jakedematteo2172 As a movie to take our own conclutions, for me there is something weird in the forest but there is not witch, is a person following Rustin Parr legacy. People keeps forgetting that Rustin Parr existed, he was sent to the gallows in 1942
Ahhhhh I get it now. The color cam (guy dies when cam falls) but the B&W cam has no audio, so the only audio we hear is from the color cam (that is in the room where Josh is) that’s why when it cuts back to the girl her screams get the loudest when she is over the colored cam
If you watch this scene alone and out of context then it's not scary as we already know what Mike looks like so it just looks like he's standing in the corner. If you watch the whole film it's scary as the legend of the Blair Witch said Rustin Parr made one victim face the corner while he kills the other.
So true. Watched this first time 5 years ago and it still haunts me

Holy shit it’s a house
That reaction was genuine because they weren't told there was going to be a house at the coordinates they were told to walk to.
😶
actually, by that time, they were just desperately trying to follow josh's voice. the witch used it as bait to lead them to her house. josh was long dead. when they heard him screaming the first time way before, he was being killed then. they heard him being killed but didn't realize it. she used their hope of rescuing josh to trap them.
oh my gosh?? i never realized when heather’s camera falls at the end u can see a body!
really?
It does look like a body wrapped in dark something
I can't see it
@@sanctuaryjesterstare straight ahead.
@@szn1580, I have slowed the video down to 0.25x speed, and I might notice something, like a head and one arm sticking out straight.
Very spooky lol
True lol
I don’t understand one thing - If Heather was holding the black and white camera, how come it was steady when she was screaming her lungs out? I mean, it sounded like she was being tortured. The camera should have fallen off her hands the moment the witch attacked her. And if she was running then the visuals of the camera should have been shaky. But in the last moment where she was screaming Mike's name like a maniac, the camera was steadily descending from upstairs to downstairs. Could it possibly be the witch who actually held Heather's camera?
Nope
NO ONE was grabbing her, she was knocked out in the basement. Is a movie for us to imagine the ending, the director said it. In my opinion there is not witch at all, just another hermit following Rustin Parr's legacy. There is something wrong with the forest but the killer for me is a person.
Heather died first because Mike is the one looking at the wall to not see it, the next one would be Josh or Mike.
MASTERPIECE AND SCARIEST MOVIE EVER
Maybe you get it but even when she was close to him, her voice sounds really low. She is uptairs but close and her voice is coming from Mike's camera, the one with a mic. When she is the basement her voice sound louder because of the mic
Josh was already dead
@@szn1580 No.
I already said that for me there is not a witch mimicking any voice
Whats the scene at the end hes just standing there ?? Can anybody explain
When they were interviewing people at the beginning of the film, they said the Witch would force one of her victims to stand in the corner while she "handled" the other one. This ending is meant to infer that Mike was essentially possessed by the Witch and forced to stand in the corner while Heather was taken care of
That's it?
Booooooooooooo
Still stupidest movie ever👎
I’m in that camp lol
How so?
can't be any worse then the paranormal activity movies lol
average marvel fan
No, "Showgirls" was the stupidest movie ever. Compared to that, this movie is "Casablanca."

Oh? Would you rather it end with them being brutally ripped apart by a vaguely humanoid figure, guts spilling everywhere, so you can be fucking entertained? You would LOVE something like that, wouldn’t you, you dense, sadistic, mainstream horror lover? Or maybe, you could, I don’t know, USE YOUR BRAIN to understand and appreciate this work of art? But why do that when you could just vege out in front of some “normal” horror film that has blood, guns, and sex that require zero brainpower, right?
