- This should work for Nav and Standard Radios I think in the 07-14 range. I figured I share this as I did not find the Information on RUclips. If you plan on selling a Radio this would be a good way to unlock it.
If you have questions let me know.
I have been struggling with this same issue. 2008 Suburban LT. With the information you shared I feel confident I should be able to get it done now! Thank you
Did this work for you?
This was a great help, I was defiitely struggling to figure out why my Tech2 menu didn't match the TSB. All sorted now, thank you very much!
I was able to use a Tech 2 to reset the VIN on a salvage radio for my '09 Traverse. Yes, there is no relearn menu for that platform, but there's enough similarity between vehicles, that I was able to select a different one and use it. Here's what I selected (may not be the right menu set or even work at all for your vehicle):
2009 (model year)
Passenger Car (Traverse is actually a light truck, but we're picking a different vehicle)
Chevrolet
W (this is the Impala)
Body (vehicle system area we're interested in)
CJ3 .... (this is one of two options available at this menu, and I just picked the first)
Radio
Module Setup
VIN Relearn
After the Tech 2 process, I had to go through several cycles (four, I think) of turning the key on, shutting it off, opening the door, then close it again. After that, the radio was unlocked and works fine.
All good Information
is there any way to use the snap-on scanners?
Thank you! I had the same problem and used the impala also It worked great!
F0: Diagnostics
(vehicle year)
(body style)
(make)
(model)
F6: Body and Accessories
Entertainment
F5: Module Setup
F0: Radio
F0: VIN Relearn
The Tech 2 will ask you if you would like to erase theft data: "select yes"
At this point you can turn off tech 2 and radio then when radio turned on it will receive VIN from BCM
Are you familiar with the newer radio unlock procedure? 2015 Traverse etc?
i am still having problems with not showing me the Vin Learn Screen everything worked till i hit Module id any luck out there
Any idea how to obtain a clear copy of the 30.004 BIN file? I managed to fine a copy online, but when I try to unzip it, it asks for a password. 😢 Trying to use it with Tech2Win software along with a VCX Nano.
And I am sure you missed the password that is on that same Page!!😉
@@ralfsautomotive You're right!! 🤣🤣 Thanks for pointing that out, it was like 2 lines down, too!! 🤦 D'oh!!
any links to 30.004? I've found several but all password protected, and I can't open the file to see the password. No text documents.
You may be overlooking the obvious. I cannot say more.
I am trying to unlock my radio after I got it from another truck same year same number and using tech2 I did not see that option what software version where you using my is 33.004 I would appreciate if you can shine some light on my problem thank you.
Comments give it away. Legality Problem!!

Hi you show two devices the tech 2 and the mdi do I need to use both of them. I need to pair my radio to my car. I bought a radio that is theft lock from eBay because my car had an after market radio but Onstar was disable
I used the Tech2 but did not find the option I needed. Have another look at the video! I think you may have missed something.
Also having problems unlocking a navigation radio on a 2014 Tahoe. When I go into tech2win I just get the options for the radio speakers. Any help would be appreciated!
You may look at earlier version. 30.004
@@ralfsautomotive when downloading the .bin file for 30.004 it is password protected cant find the password anywhere. any help would be aprichiated.

@@joeculpepper2235 30.004 will work if you need help let me know
Thank you for your help you’re very video was useful And it does work keep posting your videos
这跟SAAB9-3的Nav解锁一样,需要Tech2
Good morning can you give me some help? I got a hard radio for my 2013 gmc 2500 and my friend at the Chevy dealer was not able to unlock the radio. The computer said it did. We didn’t get the scan only vin information not vehicle relearn
If you have a buddy at a dealership have him reprogram latest calibrations it should work after that. Or you could pay to program the internal chip with the correct VIN
What is the difference between the tech2 vs MDI? Which one would be the better one to purchase?
Not to be rude but why would you buy one if you don't know? Tech2 is the older tool up to 14 from there on it will not work. A "better" code reader may be more suitable for individuals. They can be had with ABS and Live Data and best thing is they scan all vehicles. If you out to just get a radio unlocked it may be more feasible to just have someone do it for you. Just saying.
@@ralfsautomotive if I was interested in a basic scan tool I would've purchased one of those. I have a locked radio and curious what all these two devices are capable of, cost, subscription cost etc. Just taking in knowledge about the two is all
It depends on your vehicle and what you want to do. The MDI is the newer system, but both work for many things on many cars (not all, though), since both are SAE standard J2534 devices and share some common control structure between platforms and model years. The Acadia in his video is a good example. The Tech 2 is good for clearing codes, monitoring operation, and the like on the Acadia, but it's not ideal for module setup (the VIN relearn here, flashing a controller, etc.)
email sent.
Damn that was a lot of bullshit to maybe get the answer how to relearn a damn vin
Google it instead of Insulting!
