The last powerbank you'll ever need! Maxoak K2

  • The Maxoak K2 Powerbank is a genuine 50,000 mAh powerbank that can recharge your phone, tablet and even your laptop! It's truly the last powerbank you'll ever need to buy.
    Amazon US: www.amazon.com/maxoak/dp/B00Y...
    Amazon UK: www.amazon.co.uk/maxoak/dp/B0...
    10% Discount on Amazon US using code L2NL8VTZ ( 03/07/2017 - 04/30/2017)
Aside from the 4 USB ports for charging phones and tablets, it also includes a 20V DC jack output with multiple connectors for charging laptops. Also there's a 12V output which can be used for monitors, TVs, projectors and other 12V equipment.
I discharged the powerbank with a 5V ~1A load which ran for 31 hours and consumed a total of 168.5 Wh. The load was actually a little higher than 1A but I rounded it down for simplicity.
168.5Wh is within 10% of the expected 185Wh which makes this a genuine 50,000 mAh powerbank.
At 2.77lb or 1.25KG, you're going to feel it in your backpack, but that's the price you pay for such a high capacity!
The Maxoak powerbank includes a 16.8V 2.5A charger which can fill the powerbank from 0 to 100% in 6-8 hours.
Although the laptop DC output is labelled as 20V, under load it could go as low as 19V. The reality is that most laptops can actually accept slightly higher and slightly lower voltages because of onboard regulators. But of course you take your own risk if you go outside of the specs for your laptop.
The over current protection on the 20V output will kick in at 4.5A.
The over current protection on the 12V output will kick in at 3.5A.
I recommend checking their Amazon listings to see if your laptop is officially supported because they're constantly providing updated information and occasionally update the included connectors.

you are correct about not taking the power bank on a plane. I just read horror messages posted on Amazons site for this powerbank. Passengers who tried to smuggle the units on the plane had their units confiscated. This occurred around the world. Unfortunately the maximum capacity agreed among the world's airports is 100 watthours, so that makes it difficult to take this powerbank on holiday with you. Placing it in checked luggage is also not an option :( Thanks for your detailed review, I am going to purchase a unit for emergency use.

I've bought it based on your review and the high rating on Amazon and it turned out to be AMAZING. My laptop battery will only last for 1.5 hours but now I can add 7 hours on top. Charging time from 0% to 100% is about 4 hours which is great, but charging light indicator on the power brick doesn't change color. Doesn't support quick charge technology for smart phones, and its a bit hefty. Btw remember that civil flying regulations doesn't allow this size of power bank to get not with your carry-on neither with the luggage.

REPAIR TIP: I love the battery but like all modern electronics the weak point are the mechanical connectors. I recently struggled to replace the charging connector because there are no disassembly diagrams or instructions online. Taking it apart is easy:
    (1) Although you could just use a sharp knife to wedge under and then pop off the grey plastic end caps, I found it a little easier to first
    (2) use a sharp knife to remove the two black adhesive bars on the sides of the battery
    (3) then remove the six (6) screws, 3 on each side, which normally are hidden by the adhesive tape bars.
    (4) then pop off the grey end cap(s). The electronics will be loose after removing the screws so you can slide out the ic board to re-solder any components that came loose or need to be replaced. Obviously, if the charging connector goes bad, and mine did after a couple years, the battery is just a brick.

Hope I'm not too late replying to this but found it really interesting. I want to power my Atem Mini Pro which apparently requires a 9-20v 30w supply according to the plate on the back of the unit. However the mains power plug says the output is 3v 36w. I would ideally like to use the 20v socket on the Maxoak and save the 12v output for a monitor but not sure if this is advised. I'd love to hear your thought on that. Thank

Hi, I'm thinking of buying the maxoak but really can't make my mind up between this and the Ravpower with built in ac? Am I right in thinking that the Maxoak would be the better choice with the addition of a separate ac inverter? I would have to buy one of these as I don't feel confident enough to make one. Anyhow, any advice you may have would be greatly appreciated. BTW I live over in the uk so will be using 220V. Cheers.

Thanks for your introduction of Maxoak K2 Powerbank. I bought one from Amazon yesterday. Not able to connect it to my Dell Inspiron or HP Elitebook laptops. Message I got "Your system will operate slower and battery will not charge. The problem might by solved by: Ensure the plug is inserted completely for best system operation or Connect a Dell 45W AC adapter or higher". Reason to buy this is mostly for these 2 laptops, one for work and one for personal usage What do you recommend me to do?

    Great review,
Could you please make a review of the Maxoak K3. I travel a lot and I need to carry the power bank on planes with me. I know from reviews on Amazon that some people took it without problems and some got it confiscated.
The manufacturer of the power bank states that it has a voltage of 3.7 V
If we take that in the equation (Wh = A x V) we have:
Wh = 36A x 3.7V = 133.2 Wh , which should be allowed on carry on baggage on a plane with the airline consent. According to the IATA and ICAO the limit is 160 Wh. Unfortunately, the 133.2 Wh isn’t printed on the power bank and it isn’t shown either on the manual, which makes it very difficult to prove it. I sent few emails to the manufacturer to get an official brochure or specification letter detailing this, I’m still waiting.
Moreover, some airports consider the mAh as their measurement and they put a limit up to 32,000 mAh because they take a standard of 5V output.
I don’t have the equipment you have to really do the test, it would be very helpful if you can make a full review on the Maxoak K3, 36,000 mAh
    Thanks,
    Lisandro

Nice review, the best one ive seen yet. Not much people actually test it.
I know it would take a while to use a solar panel to charge it, but I would like to know if it did work with : Anker PowerPort Solar 21W 2 Ports USB and how you could actually charge it with a USB out solar device..?
The question is for a base camp setup. So another question is how it would do at 0-10°C ? For that you would put it in the fridge. Not to damage it but to simulate a high mountain hike.
Thanks would appreciate the reapply or personal message.
    Thumbs up!

I can still charge out of my usbs, but now I cannot charge out of 20v port? I have tried three different computers on all of these banks, an Acer, a Dell, and an HP and none of them charge anymore. Also tried multiple cords. Does anybody have a solution?

    Hi !
At the website they say "Can't take on airplane (185Wh)". So disappointing...
