Ive been watching GDQs for a couple of years, around 50-100 of them every time and I have to say maxylobes is one of the most genuine and kindest runners on here. Him and halfcoordinated seem like such nice chill dudes man

Yup it's very good and has fantastic and very random AI. Everytime you play battles are different.
Yes the AI has still not been topped. Perseus Mandate is my favorite in the series.

He also didn't need to reload a save there you can pickup mines after they've placed, and I'm pretty sure the only one of the first three games that doesn't let you do this is Perseus mandate.

MaxyLobes seems like one of the most Genuine individuals I have ever seen on GDQ. He seemed so heartfelt towards all the donations and went up and hung out with the crowd after his run.
That was a really enjoyable run. Great and entertaining runner and couch supporters.

Fear was the first video game that I ever got obssesed with. The story looked so interesting and unique that I marched through the internet, trying to figure out the every single bit I didn't understand. So nostalgic to remember those old, good times.

Nice speed run! I remember F.E.A.R was my very first xbox360 game when i first purchased my elite. At 7:30 was quite impressive, genius. Never knew you could do that.
The weapons in this game were one of my favorites in FPS.

34:34 the locked door/gate bit... i think you got boosted through by getting shot there, 34:34 (nice timing) please test this because if so, you could use a granade or anything to get the boost making it a lot easier (i do not own this game so no testing for me)

It's interesting to see how FPS's have evolved over time. This looks so dated now, but it was definitely descended from the line of Half-Life's influence.

Why would he run it in the easiest difficulty? I don’t know much about Speedrunning, I’m pretty new. Is there a category where they run it on extreme?
Inhumane Relationz for the fastest time. Also enemies are easier to beat.

Why Easy difficulty?
Because the game AI is cheaply constructed : they basically turn into full-auto, not-looking-at-you-but-don't-give-a-fuck aimbots on the highest difficulty so you're stuck waiting for your reflex to recharge for most combat.
Oh, and they like spotting you through walls and grates that they're not supposed to.
DxBlack actually the game was design so you can shoot through soft objects so corners and some walls just reduce the damage of bullets not stop them
gorrilaunit99 Low Difficulty is necessary to pull off certain skips/tricks and maneuver through crowded rooms without dying. Even bumping to Moderate (Normal) will lead to a much slower run.
Maxylobes isn’t the AI also cheaper the higher? Or is that just rumor? I haven’t played F.E.A.R. At all. Missed my chance to.
Mitch the AI gets more accurate and the damage is higher but besides that the tactics don't change much beyond more aggression in my experience. the main problem is there is the enemies work mostly in 4 man squads so if you kill 1 there is another 3 shooting at you from odd angles and on hard you can only take a second or 2 of fire before you die in most cases.

What's up with the segmented run on SDA, though? Seems like it's about seven minutes faster than the current WR. Timing differences?
Segmented strats in this game are actually insanely difficult and not really feasible in a Single Segment speedrun. In fact, with many new discoveries, a Segmented run of this game could be much faster than the one you're seeing on SDA.
