It’s been almost 20 years since my felony conviction. I haven’t been in trouble since 2005. I really want to get into computer science. I’m glad that I found your video. I’m a new subscriber
July 2005 for me. I’ve been a software developer for 10 years. I’ve worked in Healthcare, Financial Industry, Education, and I currently work at a large Law Firm. I’ve found that they tend to not care about my assault charge. They DO care about financial crimes and crimes that involve “dishonesty”.
One of the easiest depending on how far back the charge was, and not knocking the list but to be fair its going to be super hard landing one of those jobs with little to no experience/ degree or certifications, but a good step in the right direction is either Desktop support/IT Help Desk/service desk jobs then move into a Sys Admin role and branch off from there, and no you don't need a degree but I absolutely promise you they're going to want to see demonstrated experience and at least certifications in the specific role.
Just want to say thank you for covering this topic as I've looked alot for opinions and thoughts on tech jobs for felons and there's not much I came across
Thank you bro 👍 I'm 31 and I've been bouncing job to job and can't find what I want to or am able to do for the rest of my life for financial security. This handy dandy list here just lit a spark 💥 I needed that. God bless 😃
Thanks for creating valuable content for ex-prisoners, bro. From NJ, finished a just shy of my full four years 2 years ago, now. Maxed out. Your channel definitely provides valuable and helpful, insightful tools and ideas for others in the same position. I've been able to successfully take an online vintage resale business (eBay) from a side hustle of several hundred per month to over $5000 per month, and growing. Online selling is a fantastic way for ex-prisoners to get a chance to make money that is above minimum wage, or other low paying experiences. Same with other entrepeneurial ventures. In fact, I do part time throughout the warmer months lawn care and have used that to pay my year round expenses and also fund my eBay business, which is my main business. I am on track to do my first 100 K in sales (NOT personal income!) this year. When you get felonies, you are hit for what seems to be a low key life sentence. Many, many obstacles are put in your way. However, there are ways to overcome them. I found your page via a search on apartments and renting... thank you!
Careers with felons and no education got any ideas for certificates I can do I am struggling finding a career that accepts me I have no high school diploma
Hello Harley! I just want you to know that I think the work that you have done and are doing is PHENOMENAL! There are so many talented formerly incarcerated men and women here in the United States that have been unfairly marginalized and moved outside of employment arena. Despite the marginalization and discrimination, I have multiple conversations daily with formerly incarcerated men and women who continue to search for and find paths to remain employed and financially relevant. Continued success to you and your mission bro!
I’m not a felon but I embezzle money from my job cause I was desperate in a bad situation. My job didn’t call the cops, I have to pay it back but I’m scared it will still show on record without conviction/arrest
7 yr rule is BS. Anyone running your name will see your entire record reguardless of how old. They technically are not suppose to hold anything old against you…… but once they see it, they still form an opinion on you. And ive even had jobs tell me flat out….. no felony period….EVER
getting my it degree.Lets go class of 2022 we can do it! the reason for a degree in my opinion its a safe spot if lets say you go out of state or go anywhere in paticular they always ask and gives you a way better look than a guy whos says they can do the job aswell and plus you ger paid more beacause of your degree.BUt you have to put work in guys if you really wanna be in it!
Yea, but which IT shield do you think would have the best chance of getting a job? I was looking at either Network architect, or hardware engineer. Do you think I would have a possibility of getting hired in those fields as a felon? 😬
I would love the opportunity to assist Harley to create more opportunities to help felons attain great job opportunities. My background in personal development and communication could help folks in the interview process.
I am an experienced Linux System Administrator. I've had 4 job offers rescinded. I have also taken a step back and applied for help desk. The reason given is "it does not meet our business requirements or that of our clients".
@@rashondamorgan4570 Yes!!! I just started today. I will get 3 days of pay next Friday which meets all of my needs for the end of June. In July, I will have regular paychecks. God is a just in time God.

So have u still had anything denied?
Run a background check on yourself. Some go all the way back, some 7 years.
You shouldn't have an issue if you decide to be a programmer or in an IT support role.

My man. Good stuff
Firearms instructor is a good career for a felon.
