If anyone else has been having a hard time finding an octavius, the TC Electronics Nether with Octave 1 Dimed and the Mix knob around 75% into quality amp distortion is pretty on point
you could listen to it and find the lowest note you hear, then play notes on your guitar until you find the right note. thats what i do lol it could be A#, alot of tracks in that album are A# i think
Anyone know if Phil is still in the band? He's been absent in the live performances since the tour this was filmed during. I saw them in Tampa last night and Igor Efimov from Silent Planet was playing guitar for them, I have no complaints because they sounded incredibly good with him, just curious as to what Phil's status is. Polar Similar was such a monumental record for them, I don't want anything shaking that ship, I hope these dudes stick around for much longer.
They both mention how essential the octave pedal is to their sound. I'm new to their music, but is it a subtle "always on" effect for them? Or is it just spotlighted in a few tunes?
In reality he could have got away with a 10 gauge set for the A string to the E string. And for the Low E tuned to Drop C# he could have went with the 54. A 12 gauge set is perfect for C# standard to keep proper tension, so I believe he just went with what you would use for C# standard rather than using a mix set which would cost a bit more. The down side is the tension from A to high E is a lot higher than the Low E rather than being even across the neck. The rule of thumb is to go up a gauge every half step tuned down.
Sorry, these videos are filmed under extreme time constraints. At times, we have to make the decision to continue filming even though we know noise is a issue.
Norma Jean's Jeff Hickey & Phillip Farris show off their guitar gear!
Who should we film with next?
HE IS LEGEND
Digital Tour Bus '68 please!
Underoath
"polar similar" is the best thing I've heard.
:)
Get well soon Jeff! You belong in Norma Jean!
Yeah, well wishes to him.
He’s back!

Just bought one today because of this comment, hope it works out 😅
Queue me pausing and playing crazily to try and write down those amp settings
😅
Why would they stop producing the LTD viper 1000 deluxe. I love mine.
Not sure.
Its back
@@dbjames9715 Good to know!
Right! I wish they would produce the white with black head stock again.
came here to try and find out what tuning “with_errors” is in, still no luck lol
Darn! Sorry the video didn't help.

We need an updated gear video of the current Norma Jean guitarist

I'm honestly not sure.
This is a bit late, but it think he´s off the band
New guitarist is Grayson Chance from Harvester
I don't know bug Goose and John Finnegan have left
@@LordAquadian Both Phillip and Grayson are in NJ, Phillip comes and goes like the tides, but he's still in the band.

Ron Gorsuch it's nearly always on, and that's not really subtle in my opinion (particularly on the last album)
I'm digging the '68 gear in the backround
I wanna know what they use for distortion
the distortion comes from the amp
12-54 on a Drop C# tuning?!

I just met Jeff and Corey it was cool as fuck
Nice!
Does anybody know what cabinet they are using?
Lee Williams They're made by a company called New Vintage, and they sound amazing ha.
Nice profile picture, dude
aww suck ... i really dig his rig but i couldn't hear his voice ... maybe you need subtitles for this kind of video
We allow for community submissions for subtitles. Honestly, we just don't have the resources to transcribe our videos.
That LTD strat is awesome looking.
🤘
Was that Matt Halpern drumming around in the background? I know they are on tour with Periphery
Rothleyy No, this was filmed on December 16 2016. They started the tour with Periphery at the end of March.
Oh okay thank you for clarifying
For Today
This was filmed during the For Today tour.
Yea it was For Today's song Molotov
I miss Jeff and Phillip in Norma Jean..I hope Jeff gets well . I don't know what happened to P. Farris.
They both have come back!
@@HTXREP I found out when I saw them open for P.O.D. recently!
Best band ever
💯
Awesome video
Really glad you liked it!
What’s the band who’s playing in the background? 😂
I believe this was filmed on the For Today tour, so maybe it was their soundcheck. Honestly, I don't remember.
i lost count on how many times jeff said "particular"
Thanks for checking out the video!
I sure hope he didn’t leave the back door open
Maybe filming this when another band is doing a soundcheck would be better, but what the hell do i know? I'm just a guy with a computer

No bass rig...
As the video title says, we only able to film with Jeff and Phillip. We let the bands decide which members want to participate.
Oh that totally makes since, just wish I could see their bass rig! but great video either way!
who the hell are these guys? not the norma jean i know
Then know more.
