However, the Kickstarter aspect means that I'm going to sit back and wait until they're fully shipping at normal production levels. I've been burned on too many crowdfunding projects over the years... the "Minister of Finance" (my wife) would divorce me if I invested in another. 😆
I understand this is a necessity for your company and don't begrudge you for doing this, just that I'm sure I'm not the only one that will be hesitant.

Hi there! I'm a 70-year-old who's, been following Kickstarter with a lot of interest. It's, amazing to see all these creative ideas come to life, and I applaud the platform for fostering innovation.
However, there's, one thing that worries me: the lack of protection for backers when projects fail to deliver. While I understand the fundamentals of Kickstarter and the inherent risk involved, it feels like there should be a better system in place when creators walk away with our hard-earned money.
Here's what I'd like to see:
Stronger accountability for project creators: Perhaps a system where creators face repercussions for undelivered projects, especially those suspected of fraud.
More transparency in funding: Clearer guidelines on how funds are used, with some form of recourse for backers if misuse is suspected.
I believe these changes would create a safer environment for everyone involved. Kickstarter can still be a platform for innovation, but with some added safeguards, it can be a win-win for creators and backers alike.

The problem with crowd funding is that the developer can make extraordinary claims, collect a ton of money, and then not fully deliver, or not delivery at all on their promises. Yet they still keep the cash. Let them fund this product from their own cash reserve, and keep the profits afterwards, as opposed to having the public pay for it, and them still keeping the profits. If the technology is there to make this product, at this extraordinary price, then I'm sure there are plenty of other cashed up developers who can make it without resorting to crowd funding.

I have always been enamored with 3d printing tech even though I've never owned one. I nearly bought a pretty expensive sls last year because I'm so fascinated by it. Out of the different ways to print, sls just seems the most futuristic and the detail that you can get with it is incredible. Seriously I would be buying it in hopes that I discover my use case for it which makes it a terrible financial decision. But is it wrong that I just _want_ one? Ya know, to play with? I'm 40 years old, surely I can allow myself to have a $3,000 toy, right? Someone talk me down from this ledge. Or push me off it hell idc. If I do this then I know that I'm going to need to buy a 3d scanner as well so I can actually reproduce useful parts with it. Now we're talking multiple machines and I'm going to need to set them up in a room, it's going to be a whole thing. But man it sounds fun

Might be better to email them, and ask for clarification on the rules too, as there was nothing about guns in there, and you were posting a picture of a thing you had SLS printed that a gun was in so idk.

@@pretzel_tfg in hindsight, I see why it happened. My intention was to show something cool that I had Sls printed though. It’s a gun safety device. Not like I was trying to post about guns.
I’ll email them if I don’t get unbanned closer to the kickstarter. I fully intend to send them money as soon as I can 😂

Are you doing anything to the video to make it look this futuristic, or is this just how it looks when it's working? I'm so looking forward to this printer! I've only ever printed Nylon via sending it off for printing.

No CGI, no trickery, it's exactly what it looks like while printing.

It makes me extremely nervous about the product now that I know it is being sold over Kickstarter. Your printer is revolutionary enough to stand on its own and should be sold with warranty from your shop directly - launching it on kickstarter takes a lot of buyer confidence away.
Hope to hear back from you guys regarding this.

I agree with this sentiment too. Printer will sell out day one. No need to split profits with kickstarter.

We aren't VC backed so we are using Kickstarter as it's actually intended.
