AstroPictures agreed. Although it was sad to see one of the best characters in star wars to die, the one thing I recently realised is that I've never actually seen any movie where Harison Ford's character dies.
I remember the laughter in the theater in 1980 during The Empire Strikes Back. The biggest laugh, even though it was such a serious scene, came from Han's "I know" line. It's hard to describe to people now why I think The Empire Strikes Back was the best Star Wars movie and why when I am asked what my favorite movie of all time is, Empire is always my answer. It really startles people who don't realize what a huge Star Wars fan I am.
Because Harrison Ford had been begging for it for quite a while. He wanted Han killed in V. The Carbonite thing was devised in case Han couldn't or wouldn't come back for VI.
That "we're all fine" dialogue in the detention cell block wasn't "seemingly improvised" as Watch Mojo says. Harrison Ford actually did improvise that radio conversation so it would be more authentic.

Harrison Ford's heart just didn't seem to be in it for Return of the Jedi. Honestly, the character of Han was way underwritten in it, as he was originally intended to be killed off before Lucas nixed it. And it shows. I'm just not a Return of the Jedi fan for the most part...

They really did a great job with the casting, although the guy who plays Han doesn't really look or sound like a young Harrison Ford, he still has all the charm and mannerisms of a Han 1.0, without all the kinks worked out yet, he still felt like Han. I'm just so disappointed that all these so called fans refused to even give it a shot.

Han's return in *TFA* would've been even cooler imo if Harrison Ford had trained for a few months to wield a concealed blaster alongside his main one for twin shooting. He was already playing up the old Western themes anyway in the OT. It would make sense for him to expand his arsenal as a former Rebel General, especially when facing multiple opponents at once. I'm not saying he needed to be Revolver Ocelot but it would've been a nice touch to show his character's evolution. 🌌 *#SeeYouSpaceCowboy* 😢
As a SW fan for over forty years I can honestly say I will NEVER see them in the same light now they've killed off the last Skywalker, also Han and Leia's son. And they honestly think giving Palpatine's granddaughter the Skywalker name will make us feel good that everything the heroes did was for nothing. The bad guy has won.
