    GROW TENT VICTORY! What are some of the hottest cards you are running right now?

    • @Average_Geo
      @Average_Geo 3 года назад

      My biggest concern is GDDR6X junction temperatures. I have a hard time keeping them below 100C at optimal hashrates and end up reducing hashrates to keep it at or below 96C, which is still high to me but may not be. I really don't know. Maybe I should just do pad replacements and see if that helps.

    • @TheHobbyistMiner
      @TheHobbyistMiner  3 года назад +1

      I always recommend pad and paste replacements. I do mine yearly now. Just to cover my bases. Whats your airflow like?

      @@TheHobbyistMiner It is a new MSI 3080ti, which is just on my bench trying to dial it in. Air flow is a fan in a 28.5c room temp. I'll jump into Discord when time permits to see what can be figured out.

    Window units do not pull air in from outside. Blow smoke into the intake and you'll see it come right back into your face. ;)

    Will def not work with those air filter boxes. Put a nylon stocking over the intake hose, quit trying to make filters made for exhausting weed odour, as intake filters. No idea why you are stuck on this method, but as usual, you'll ignore what I say, then eventually capitulate.

    I don't understand why you are exhausting the air outside the house. Yes in the summer, but in fall heading into winter you'd want the heat from the cards heating your house.

    Its definetaly cheaper than big wall AC unit, but lets see how humidity and negative room pressure will affect the operation.

  • @NadoJoe

    I had the negative pressure issue with a huge infinity tent and one asic miner. I’m not thinking I should use the tent with an AC inside it and in a couple openings I will bring air inside the tent and a couple others to feed my miner. Thoughts

    What bothers me about these grow tents, is their reflective interiors (which retake heat). The exact thing I want to get rid of. Ideally, a tent without a reflective interior would be better I would think? But I can’t find one anywhere.

  • @controlledchaos4173
    @controlledchaos4173 2 года назад

    Am I misunderstanding / miscalculating this ?
    (excluding the ATX PSU which is powering your MB)...
    - you have 3 HP Server PSU's with a total capacity of 3150W (1200+1200+750).
    Your GPU's use about (Total) 1470W
    - RX470: 120W times 11 = 1320W
    - RX570: 150W = 1320W + 150W = 1470W
    You are using less than 50% of the (Total) PSU capability ?
    Are you powering the two AC Infinity fans with the Server PSU's ?
    - If so... how ? I have 2 AC Infinity T6's... they have wall plugs.

    having grown in these tents before, if you want to run filters, put the blowers/fans before filters so you're pushing through rather than pull through, which creates the negative pressure issue you mention at 5:45.. i'd prefer positive displacement vs negative pressure honestly.

    i built my grow tent ..based on your earlier video.. bought the 8" vivo exhaust fan.. right off per your advice.. i also bought a portable ac 12000 unit that i may add to the mix once i get up to 10 cards from 6 ... mine is in the upstairs bonus room .. as i dont have a secure area in my crawlspace yet.. that maybe where i put the grow tent once i get power installed under the house..

    One thing to try, could you manage a
    Kind of kit to put your motherboards vertically on the sides of your shelves structure? I think that would help even more with the flow of air… same thing could apply for all of your psus with fans pointing up.

    • @TheHobbyistMiner
      @TheHobbyistMiner  3 года назад

    Nice progress on the grow tent, looks damn good. I am also curious about condensation and moisture even in the current passive intake. What is the current moisture % in the tent? I think your current gauge measures that. A dehumidifier may also help if it goes out of control.

      I have a dehumidifer now about 15 feet from it running all day keeping the basement at 50%. Inside the tent currently it is 28% at the bottom of the tent where the intakes are at 28% at the very top.

  • @linuxtweeker
    @linuxtweeker 3 года назад

    Man, my tent is on the way!
    From what I red, the 8inch inline fan was overmegakill for the size of your tent. A 6inch inline fan would have done the trick.
    Why don't you put two 6 inch booster on the 2 opening at the bottom in addition to the MERV filter box? For max airflooooooooow.
    Another thing, I heard that AC INFINITY is better quality and quieter compared to VIVOSUN: might wort the shot for your next tent build?

    • @TheHobbyistMiner
      @TheHobbyistMiner  3 года назад +1

      Take a look at my past Grow Tent Videos. I couldn't do 12 GPUS in that grow tent mining Ravencoin. Would get to 120 F in there. Too Hot! 6" Inline Fan honestly is a waste and every miner should consider 8" as a starting point.
      AC Infinity is really good.

    • @dblakejr4
      @dblakejr4 3 года назад

      8in is the way to go. I have the same tent setup and tried both AC infinity and Vivosun from 6in to 8in inline fans. I run 6 3070, 4 3060ti, 3070ti, 3080. Vivosun is great but the fan is a bit loud IMO and power consumption is a bit much. I ended up going with AC infinity due to less noise and power draw. Running at half speed temps are around 100F. All cards around high 50s to low 60s F.
