It’s the morning of August 6th, 1945. Jujiro Matsuda is heading back home after visiting his company headquarters in nearby Hiroshima, where his small trucks called Mazdas have become fixtures of the city. And suddenly, behind him, there’s a bright flash. The city that had grown on the backs of the Mazda trucks for more than a decade had vanished in an instant, and it would be Jujiro and the Mazdas that would lead its rebuilding. But how did the son of a poor fisherman become a Hiroshima success story? How did he set a cork manufacturing company on the path to the Mazda we know today? And how did he and this young company rise to reunite and rebuild a city destroyed by an atomic bomb? Today on Past Gas, part one of our four-part series on Mazda.

The MASSIVE thing that people forget was the Duratec series of engines was a licensed engine deal from Mazda's MZR platform. As its always misquoted as being "MZRs are just Ford Duratecs" when its actually the other way around. Those engines found themselves into many all sorts of cars.

The b2400 was the Ford ranger. The 2000 and 2200 were never crossed over. The escape is the Mazda tribute and is covered with FoMoCo branding on the windows and engine components.
The ford Probe was also part of mazda. I think it was based off of the mx3 or something. I had a 93 GT model and it was pretty awesome

I visit Hiroshima every year to see the Carp play from the UK. I have 2 Mazdas. One red, one white, cos Carp play in those colours. I also think Donut is pretty dope, so seeing you guys chat about the Carp was purdy cool.. ;-)

The russo japanese was was the first time a asian country defeated a western nation. It was a absolutely devastating defeat for russia . two entire fleets destroyed. The usa did not go light on germany. It lost 25% of its territory and 15 million germans were ethnically cleansed from eastern europe and became “expellees” in the smaller divided germany. As the term expellee excluded them from refugee aid available to other displaced peoples. The city of Breslau for example had over 1 million inhabitants but was completely emptied of ethnic Germans and repopulated with poles from territories annexed by the USSR
