    • @louisemota7030
      @louisemota7030 3 года назад

      Bitless can actually be very bad for some horses. One can argue that bitless is harsher on the horse if used inappropriately. It has to do with the biomechanics of horses. Riding with a cord or with nothing on the horse’s head is the only better alternative.

    • @turkeyburglarjones6148
      @turkeyburglarjones6148 6 лет назад +8

      jill evans are you talking about a curb chain? Sure harsh hands are painful for them (and some people here definitely have them) but curb chains aren’t inherently painful nor is dressage. Dressage is not just “dancing” real dressage is not about putting them in a frame, it’s about building their strength and balance. And curbs without curb chains are more harsh honestly, because the chain or strap stops it from rotating too harshly in their mouth.

    • @elizabethblackwell6242
      @elizabethblackwell6242 5 лет назад +3

      @@turkeyburglarjones6148 A lot of that training is fine, but quite a bit of it is ethologically unsound.

    • @turkeyburglarjones6148
      @turkeyburglarjones6148 5 лет назад +6

      Stable Life like I said classical dressage in general is about working within the horses limits and giving them a healthier outlook on life, it’s not unsound. Unless you mean something specific in the video? Like being BTV, I don’t agree with that.

    • @elizabethblackwell6242
      @elizabethblackwell6242 5 лет назад +1

      @@turkeyburglarjones6148 That's certainly the theory. Whether that's the execution, I remain unconvinced. These ethograms are backed by excellent research and are well accepted, so complying or at least aligning to them seems better for horse welfare.

    • @turkeyburglarjones6148
      @turkeyburglarjones6148 5 лет назад +2

      Stable Life what ethogram? Are you missing a link? It’s true that real classical dressage is a rare thing now but a few people do practice it. The riding school of buckeburg is a good place, or Anja Beran, Phillip Karl, even nuno oliveira.
      But I’m confused, you tell me this is unsound and now you’re saying it’s not unsound?

      No abuse what so ever. What do you know about horses? Extremely intelligent creatures, they are considered a precocial species. Humans are not, horses have a herd mentality, while they fight for control, once its established they follow their leader, 8ts what they do and need. The trainer has become their leader....

    • @XxShellyW13xX
      @XxShellyW13xX 3 года назад

      And you think the dressage horses of today act any differently? How about Thoroughbreds on the track? How about barrel racing? All of these have a whole lot worse headsets and gaping mouths.
      It just never ceases to amaze me the amount of people who have to come on a video and really hunt for the worst of it, and pounce on that one thing, and make this big deal about it. Just STFU and learn about the history of Dressage.

    This is NOT PRETTY! This is ABUSE! There is absolutely ZERO reason to be contorting these horse’s heads to their chests! Zero reason to take their manes and tails away from them. See the amount of head gear on one of these horses. It is so heavy and so much in order to cause pain to the horse via facial nerves via pressure per the nose gear, straps, reigns. In order to get a horse to contort his neck like this, tie downs are used, and often the horse has permanent damage in his neck from this contortion. Horses should be able to participate in dressage without the painful contortions that people force them to do. What the hell is wrong with people?

    • @ellie27

    • @mortisha8693
      @mortisha8693 4 года назад +3

      They didn’t take their manes and tails away from them. Look again - I see flowing tails or tails knotted up in a neat bundle to keep out of the way. Manes are braided down the neck line with tassels and the forelock free in most. Some of the horses have both manes and tails gloriously free. These horses are the equivalent of ballerinas doing martial arts moves.
