Agreed. I worked at a small firm for a year then switched to a Big 4 after I earned my MSA. The small firm provided a GREAT foundation of tax knowledge and a skillset. I would have been LOST without that experience. I am preparing more complex tax returns for individuals and partnerships. I also do tax provisions (did not do this at the small firm). Looking to do international tax. I can definitely see why Big 4 employees are highly sought after by recruiters. I have learned so much in about only a month. My LinkedIn inbox is flooded already.
Don’t be overwhelmed. I have lots of content on how to get internships and jobs with no experience out of college. Check them out and just remember to breathe.

Thank you! I’m nearing the end of my degree and considering sucking it up and doing public for a year or so just for the experience because I see in job listings that want even 1 year experience in public the salary is much higher than without.
Yeah I recommend that route but there are other opportunities for sure that you can find without going public. If doing public maybe go the consulting/advisory route and not tax or audit
IRS is also a good training place plus after five yrs you get enrolled agent status and you can move around in many different areas as well as moving to other agencies like fbi or dea. I thinknits better than going to public accting other than for a yr or two.
Is there one person who enjoys big 4 jobs? Everyone seems to hate them, and it's understandable from their stories. It seems like an industry-wide problem. If that many people are miserable at the big four, and the turnover is ridiculous, shouldn't someone look into that? Is the IFAC effective in any way in the field?
@Corporately Nicole Thanks, Nicole. It just seems strange that the overall consensus among new big 4 employees is that it's living hell and they cry in bathrooms and hate life. I'm not sure how it's that bad, but it seems like an established culture at these firms.
@@corporatelynicole WHY!?! 😭 I'm all scared now. I want to start in the field with my bachelor's, but I'll be 48 yeard old when I earn it, and I'm too old for all that nonsense. I'll just walk right out before it gets that bad.
So I got 2 years left of school and my first job was admin intern role at public accounting firm. My internship has ended. Not sure where I should be applying as a junior now?
I am in my second year of BCOM hons (accounting). I am so confused on where to start the journey. Would highly appreciate if you could recommend what kind of roles for internships to apply for at this stage?
Hi I’m from Australia and finished my masters in professional accounting and MBA What kind of jobs I can apply for? I don’t have any idea could you please help me
mhmm I am not sure as I think you need a work visa for the USA. But in Australia def look for accounting, finance or business analytics/data roles. Internal audit is also a good idea.
So would it be better to just start applying to big 4 first before working in a smaller company or a priv company .just after u come out of accounting major .im currently doing acca .i though it be good to work in smaller company have some experience then go to big 4 is that not good idea .plz let me know anyone i have no idea .😅

how did u get in big 4
Yeah, how did you get in Big 4?
@Ari-sw9ef I have loads of videos and vlogs on my channel sharing this
Better to start at a Big 10 - 40 to get initial experience and mentoring then negotiate up to Big 4 then transition to industry 😜
Also a good path to take
I have no experience and feel overwhelmed with my future, especially applying to the Big Four.

Yes some do and have stayed. Big4 goes beyond the external audit functions or job roles.

Honestly it depends on which one is hiring and hired you. All of them are good

What is the salary progression?
It depends on your role and industry
Have you seen people with dreads in the big 4?

Choose a country with good programs in accounting and you can easily immigrate
I am 27 years old working in industry role :'(
Is it too necessary to apply for an entry level public firm?
You’ll probably fit as an experienced hire or even senior but can certainly request coming in as entry level
