    Kevin Spacey is one of my favorite actors. After hearing all of the bad press surrounding his off-set behavior, the research you did on his upbringing as a child brought some badly needed clarity as to these elements of his character. But understanding the trauma that often shapes our childhood does not forgive our frailties or failures as adults. The fact is, there are so many emotionally damaged members of the enormous talent pool that comprises the entertainment business, that if we were to shun everyone who harbored darker aspects of their personalities we wouldn’t have anybody to watch or enjoy at all. From Elvis, to Michael Jackson, to even the great Lawrence Olivier, Oscar Wilde, and F. Scott Fitzgerald, all suffered from emotional flaws, many often overwhelming and eventually fatal.
    Among his enormous body of work, for me one of Spacey's most notable roles came later in his career as the beleaguered head of an investment film on the brink of disaster in, "Margin Call." The way he explored things like loyalty, love, life, death, and how we often deal with these often disparate challenges, remains not only one of the most outstanding performances I've yet seen, but seemed to encapsulate all of the enormous demons he must have lived with, either successfully or unsuccessfully, all his adult life.

    "Outbreak" and "The Rep" were my introduction to Kevin Spacey. I was very thrilled when I heard that he was going to be the next Lex Luther, he did a wonderful job portraying Lex Luther.
    I was getting tired of hearing my favorite actors getting accused of hurting others. I was happy that Kevin Spacey was proven innocent. I hope to continue to watch more of his films.
    My heart broke when I heard about Bill Cosby. I was five when I watched "Fat Albert" in the 1970s. I didn't want to believe that someone who portray beloved cartoon characters and worked on family friendly sitcoms were a threat to women. Imagine being in your thirties learning your childhood favorite actor was actually hurting women.

    Anyone who has been following Kevin since the scandal broke, the trials and his recent interviews will know that the media blew everything out of proportion as they always do. He proved in court with evidence (not just reasonable doubt) that he never committed anything criminal. He was clumsy and made inappropriate decisions and behaviors but nothing that warrants him from not being able to continue his passion for acting again. Especially after he’s admitted to his mistakes, and has apologized to the people he’s hurt and offended. Like the director of control said, the public wasn’t in the court room and we didn’t see the evidence or details that were presented but alot of it is out there if you just look into it. I say the majority of the public wants him back and those studio execs who say “hell no” to Kevin are missing out on a chance of creating something special with him that could end up being big. Kevin has my support 100%.

    • @stuart3242
      @stuart3242 2 месяца назад +2

      I completely agree! I became a fan of his during the summer of 2023 and at that time, I didn’t know much about his allegations, which is why I began conducting my own research and closely followed the UK trial. As I was researching his situation, I quickly realized that the media completely blew everything out of proportion, refused to speak about his legal wins and that there was also a LOT of misinformation being spread about him. This man has cleared his name on multiple occasions and I’m sick of people comparing him to OJ Simpson by saying “it doesn’t matter if he was found ‘not guilty’ OJ Simpson was too.” That’s a false equivalence because Kevin didn’t get off due to a technicality, he was cleared because he had the opportunity to present evidence that proved his innocence.

    • @ajhornes
      @ajhornes 2 месяца назад +2

      @@stuart3242Exactly! I hated people using that argument too. Two totally different situations. As you said, he got off off on a technicality and plus the events that were going on at the time in LA… Rodney King beating, LA riots, race relations with the LAPD. All of that came into play and that wasn’t like Kevin’s situation at all. Luckily, Kevin has been able to put some truth out there and people are becoming aware of what really happened with those cases. The media still wants to paint him as a monster and they never cover his acquittals and the details of what came out in the trials. And where do we draw the line when someone is found not guilty but continue to not let them have their livelihood back? It’s terrible how he’s been treated but hopefully it turns around for him. I was always a big fan of his but definitely did my own research too.

    If people judged all the entertainment they watched and enjoyed based on the personal lives of the actors or entertainers that created, or contributed to it, then we might as well do away with all entertainment, because you can find something to dislike about pretty much everybody; the degree of severity doesn't really matter if we're talking about things that didn't necessarily end with the person in jail.

      Anthony Rapp has been an actor since he was a baby and supported his family financially. His mom allowed him to go anywhere and with whoever he wanted. There is a free podcast on the internet , "The Trials of Kevin Spacey " Anthony Rapp told that to the jury. I highly recomend this podcast, but I know, only people interested in finding the truth would take the time to listen to. I did it and I was shocked how the media and people let themselves be carried away by a big lie. It only took the jury 45 minutes to find Rapp's allegations false and he was forced to pay 40k in damages. But mainstraim media makes money on controversy, so I think they just let the people thinking the worst. Kevin Spacey had some bad behavior because of his closeted gay life and he admitted. But he never did nothing to a kid.

    I think this was a brilliant movie and its ending. His plan to push someone to a place most people don't believe they could ever go, let alone think about, is the whole point. We are all capable of secretly thinking ill will upon others and committing evil acts, as we see in the end. Anyone who states they can't believe someone had those thoughts or something to that point, are liars. Every human being in this planet has thought evil things about another person. It comes down to you and the choice you decide to make, knowing the consequences that will follow, legally, morally, mentally, and spiritually. This is a great movie and great performances from all of the cast members. 21:49

    What kind of man gets victimized and stays silent, allowing others to suffer the same fate?
