I actually gasped at the first story when it was mentioned that the niece is fifteen. Running out into the road without paying attention seems like such a little kid move. I definitely don't think he's the asshole, I'd say he needs therapy not just because of how he feels about his niece, but because of what he's been through and how his life has changed.

If we want to get into statistics. Kimchi is less than 1000 on the Scoville scale. For reference, that is 1/4th the spiciness of a jalapeño and 1/40th of a cayenne pepper. And 1/50th the scoville of a bag of hot flaming Cheetos. Boy was probably claiming it was ghost pepper spicy or something.

it's not good for kids to over consume spicy foods, the doctor was absolutely right, just because you didn't have problems doesn't mean it's healthy also east asian countries have a high number of gastric ulcer/cancer cases among young people and it's because of smoked/spicy food

Story #3: If that kid didn’t like the food, he’s plenty old enough to speak up & young enough to get away with spitting it out.😂 Telling him to not trust the food his MOTHER is giving him could set him up for serious trust issues.💔
I wasn’t raised with spicy foods and my ⚪️ mama didn’t even add salt/pepper.🤦🏽‍♀️ She did buy things like bell peppers, tho. My parents thought I was lying when I said bell peppers ARE spicy to me. I was 43yo when I learned that bell peppers actually AREN’T spicy & that I’m just allergic to capsicum (not capsaicin)…which is apparently rare.🙃

Spicy food story - YTA for sure. We don't even actually know what the doctor said. It's highly likely OP 'took the opportunity' to tell the doctor about it in a biased way. And the doctor could have said anything that OP might have also taken out of context. Doctor could have said something as basic as 'really spicey food isnt recommended' - and with someone who's baseline spice is pepper that could have been enough for OP to run with it. They just sound like someone who was looking for an excuse to do what they preferred, regardless of what the wife wants.

As an Indian woman, i grew up on spicy food, all my family did from a really young age, but we usually put things like (savory) yogurt, milk, coconut in them so the younger kids can build a tolerance but not have too many gastric issues... and most of my family's in the medical field, nobody had an issue with it. If someone didnt like it or couldn't take it, we just adjusted it for them. Plus, I've seen a lot nonspice ppl confusing seasoning spice and color in food with capsaicin hot spicy which is another mess 🤦🏻‍♀️ a lot of Asian food can be seasoned and spiced well without it being "spicy," ppl are wild. I've also seen and experienced too much food related racism to give the husband the benefit of the doubt on this one, esp with defensiveness and immediately taking the kid to his parents.

For the spicy food story: as a first time parent, I was really paranoid about food. We didn’t even give the baby foods with salt way after he was allowed to have it. One day, I’m eating McDonald’s around him. As soon as I’m not looking, he’s got his hands covered in the buffalo sauce for my nuggets and he’s going HAM. Now he’s 4, likes hot Cheetos when the occasion allows for it, and eats raw lemons 😂

Story 1 - I feel like he should talk to his wife about his complicated feelings about his niece. Be honest with her, express his frustration and say that for him right now, having her be around isn't healthy. He's in a very low place, and I know that the girl probably feels bad and will want reassurance that everything is okay and... it's not. It might never be again, and it would be a lot of mental anguish to be in the position where you have to look someone in the eye that caused you to be badly, badly hurt and to swallow your anger and grief at that. I think for both of them it would be better to get help from someone else.
Story 2 - the thing is, that circle of people is so sexist and toxic. I would feel so betrayed if my partner posted pictures of me with lies that uplift an ideology to a group of people KNOWN for being toxic to people who live how I actually live. Those kinds of groups cause real life harm - Josh is right. To be clear - one can want to be a stay at home partner/parent, as long as both partners can support that and are comfortable with it. You can even want to express yourself and live your life with traditional gender roles. I say this as a transnonbinary masc person - expressing your gender in a way that makes you happy is fine, just don't belittle or demean others and their identity expression in the process. My issue is that the vocal majority of the trad wife group is EXTREMELY misogynistic and openly DOES demean people expressing themselves or living their lives in a specific way that is not their own.
Story 3 - lol, I have a friend who thinks ketchup is too spicy. KETCHUP. I can't help but chuckle about it. With the kiddo I would more be worried about something much hotter.
Story 4 - This reminds me of the one time a lady asked if she could include me in her prayer when I was scheduling a doctor's visit for her over the phone. I said yes mostly because I grew up Catholic and I'm used to the question, little weird to ask for a stranger but whatever. She then asked my name and I told her and lady straight up goes; "Dear lord, uplift Merlin oh lord. Let you shine your light on Merlin lord, who has helped us to find an appointment..."
She meant like. Right then. At that very moment. I have never had a more uncomfortable phone call in my life.
Story 5 - How is that a compliment like fuck off lmfaoooo I'm so baffled by her family. Are they against tattoos maybe? Wild, wild, wild.
Story 6 - it feels a lot like this needs to have more conversation lmao - wait how did Sean say a fantastic joke without anyone calling attention to it? She SHOULD be Jesse's Girl [distant rock music playing]

The "can I pray for you?"
    Story really scorns me,
As a now non-religious pansexual person who can't really come out and say I'm not religious to my family that's been shoving it down my throat since childhood the ONLY place I can EVER see someone putting a physical hand on you to pray is if
    A) you think you are possessed
    B) are in church praying at the front of an alter or podium .
They had every right to tell the staff which thankfully listened they were being homophobic, because every dang time a person such as this says they weren't being homophobic
Their version of that sounds realistically like this
" oh I know your gay and all and that makes you go to hell but I know you have religious trauma with it soooo can I pray for you tho about your broken bone"
I bet on it, as I never see how reminding someone even if you KNOW they have trauma with religion trying to force that stuff on them, I to this day say if a pastor puts a hand on me in a church without my permission and talks about responsibility I will break down into tears and have an anxiety attack because church has so many bad memories including one's of a girl who was the daughter of the teacher who was in charge of our class bullying me and making fun of me with her friends .

Hot take for the spicy food story: the asshole is the doctor honestly. He should'nt have automatically told him that spicy foods are dangerous for small children and he needs to take action to be culturally appropriate. Children of other countries/ethnicities eat spicy food all the time. The doctor should know this. If he doesnt, he definitely needs some cultural awareness training as he is a trusted professional in health. Perpetuating stereotypes like this is how our healthcare in America becomes so dangerous for POC

@@tommyrandall3489 they’re afraid to stand up for men. They’re more feminist than the feminist. Yes there are some misogynistic men, but not all of them. Feminism has been corrupted to a point where if a man is proud of having a traditional wife that bakes and takes care of their children, it’s considered bad. And to encourage a divorce? Really? That’s not how marriage is supposed to be. You’re supposed to resolve problems. But yes, divorce your husband that provides a comfortable life for you and your children, go get a job because you will need one, and neglect your children and leave them in day care for a stranger to raise. Great idea guys.

She is a traditional wife! The fact that you let society make you feel less than for taking care of your family is insane. She should be proud and grateful that she has that privilege to stay home with her children. A lot of women don’t have that. A career will never give you the fulfillment that your family and children do.

Trad wife isn't an offensive term, or at least I haven't seen it used in a negative context. Kinda hate how close minded Josh is, he seems judgy over other people's choices, he's rubbed me the wrong way in several of these. As a woman, he's a man I'd feel uncomfortable to be around 😔

1000000% disagree. He is the most on the ball. Maybe some are proud of being Trad, but check out what happened to them later. There are accounts run by ex trad wives, whose husbands left them for younger women etc etc.
These women have no financial control over their lives, which is inherent in Trad. That's the problem.
Even if you want to bake gender roles into the way you live your lives, it's ok, but always and every time *stay at home spouses need to control their own money, in their own accounts.*

@@hcf4kd1992 You're selecting some negative outcomes online and acting like it's inevitable just like Josh. Nah I'm sick of Josh judging my life style, he always says something negative about women being housewives, doesn't talk about the pros children and relationships experience. He's sexist, and I wish he'd see that because he doesn't seem to make comments about men's relationship dynamics or decisions like he does with women. I have been both the career driven workaholic and a stay at home mother, I love the latter and understand it isn't for everyone. Feminism is supposed to give us that choice and I'm sick of being shit on over my choices in my relationship. The fact that you are only going by things you see on Tiktok shows me you lack life experiences.

@indigocrayon520 I highly encourage you to do research on choice feminism. Feminism has nothing to do with what choices you make, it's not about making choices, it's about liberating women from systems of oppression and ensuring our human rights are not violated. There's absolutely nothing sexist about being critical of misogynistic and racist propaganda (which tradwife content is!). Also your lifestyle comes with a very high risk, men are socialized to not see women as people and it's not uncommon for them to abuse their wives. You can choose to do whatever you want, but if you don't get what Josh is criticizing then this conversation is above your pay grade and that's okay! Go educate yourself and we can have this conversation then.

Trad wife isn't derogatory. Not on its face. It's very much a self-assumed title people who either want to be trad wives or want to have a trad wife use. Though I'm sure someone has used the term in a mocking way. Generally just the trad wife term and thing is a very right wing occupation, so the term has slightly different meanings on the left and right. The right thinks it's basically a synonym for SAHM, but with extra submission. The left feels it's a creepy delusional cosplay version of homesteading and SAHMing. Creepy and delusional since the concept is a product. Product sold to the right. It doesn't represent the reality of homesteading nor SAHMing.

There seems to be a lot of leftists who believe the only trad wives are those they see on Tiktok, same with the right always seeing extremists in the LGBTQ communities.
