The Spectacular Spider-Man is an American superhero animated television series based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man, created and developed by Greg Weisman and Victor Cook. In terms of overall tone and style, the series is based principally on the Stan Lee, Steve Ditko, and John Romita Sr. era of The Amazing Spider-Man comic books, with a similar balance of action, drama, and comedy as well as a high school setting. However, it also tends to blend material from all eras of the comic's run-up to that point in addition to other sources such as the Ultimate Spider-Man comics by Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley, as well as Sam Raimi's Spider-Man film series.

One of the best fights in the show. 3 awesome villains and spidey brawling it out with classical music playing. And the ending with tombstone is amazing
While the fat lady was singing and J. Johnah Jameson couldn't say anything negative about Spidey during the brawl.

Just to let people know, Josh Keaton plays a legally distinct spider powered hero in the season 2 finale of Invincible.
Thank god I just saw the episode earlier today. This would’ve been terrible to read here for the first time.
Invincible actually DID end up in Marvel for a short time and worked with Spidey. wouldn't work in the animated version, so the legally distinct Spider hero was a compromise.
@@Bakuganluver23 I know. Marvel team-up volume 3 issue 14. In fact, the webbing on Mark after going back fits the ending of the comic; so we can assume the story happened in the animated one as well.
This show is literally too good for it to exist. I wished there was more but like all good things, it’s better to end as the hero.

Funnily enough spectacular was supposed to take place in the same universe as earth's mightiest heroes where both the avengers and fantastic four exists.

@@toledochristianmatthew9919I refuse to believe that. Not because I think it wouldnt be cool by any means. But because then there would be *2 super heroe teams AND SHIELD* in NY and for some reason Spiderman has to fight a enemy pool twice the sice as everyone else's *ALONE*.
Its kinda of inmersion breaking when Peter has to deal with so much crap and not even *1 HERO* can come and help every once in a while

@@draconomega Spider man has always dealt with so much crap alone even in comics. Not even daredevil or punisher deals with so many supervillains. It also shows how impressive spider man is. In the Ultimate Comics, the Avengers(Ultimates) got their butts handed to them by the Sinister Six and SpiderMan singlehandedly beat all of them by himself.
LOL, the thumb-nail made it look like Spider-Man was fighting White Knight from Generator Rex.

Nah the cops had some suspicion on him but if it looks like he is trying to help a beloved vigilante his public image would be untouchable
The best animated Spider-man series in my opinion. So much was done right in this series. Peter's portrayal, the animation, casting and overall stories. It's such a shame this series was cancelled due to legal issues between Disney and Sony, specially since 5 seasons were initially planned. I understand that the '94 TAS Spider-man is generally more loved, but I honestly contribute this more to nostalgia as to actual series quality. Still an excellent show though!

I think he needs a class on quality, this show still stands the test of time.

Why does this Spider-Man have web armpits
It's a carry over from the early comic-book days. Sometimes called "Web-Wings", they could help Spider-Man steer his descent/freefall.
@@LanceawrightPeter even uses them in the modern comics except it’s not as visible.
I feel like the only reason silver Mane is the most powerful is because of his metal armor without it he's pretty much a powerless old man but I think he could do some significant damage without his armor however we don't see him fight others without his armor though so this isn't a possibility and let's not forget about his daughter silver Sable if anything I feel like silver Sable accomplishes more than her father does
Too bad Spider Man's one of the nice ones. Imagine what Punisher would do to an enemy pinned and unable to move, trapped in power down armor that left the face exposed.
