I just love Norman Osborne’s methods of deception. Quote from the Art Of War: “When we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near.”
When Harry is sent away to get help he needed, Peter believed the Goblin was gone, but in reality, Norman had gotten closer to Peter with the internship.
One thing I’ll always love about this show and this episode in particular is just how genuinely evil and twisted Norman truly is. He never had any sort of “evil split personality” here, the Goblin was always him. He was always completely sober and in complete control. Knowing this and realizing that Goblin and Norman are literally the same person is honestly pretty terrifying when you think about it. Norman was able to keep an orderly, sensible persona so well for so long that no one, not even Spider-Man truly suspected Goblin was him until the very end. I genuinely believe that Goblin is Norman fully being himself without any societal or moral obligations holding him back. He’s wearing a mask, no one knows who it is under there…so there’s no point in keeping up appearances. Norman was so good at this that not even his own son fully knew who he was. That’s legitimately fucking scary, and it’s what makes Norman in this show my favorite take on the character and one of my favorite villains of all time. The red flags and hints were always there that showed that Norman was a lot more unhinged/insidious than he let on. Working with criminal organizations, his completely nonchalant attitude towards killing people (like with Sandman and Otto), knowing about and not giving a fuck about his son’s drug addiction until it got in the way of his plans, breaking his OWN CHILD’S LEG and framing him just to cover his own ass. And then he fakes his own death and basically abandons Harry to deal with the trauma of seemingly watching his own father die. Like…damn. I will forever be salty this show got cancelled. Shit was really getting more serious around the end of the second season, leading up to a lot of really interesting stuff…only for it to be cut for good (for the time being at least). As of now, all we’re left with is a great show that ended too soon, a crazy cliffhanger and a lot of unanswered questions.
I agree with many people that It was a nice change of pace to finally have a goblin Who is the most similar to his comics version where he's one of the most fucked up and cruel people of the Marvel universe. It stills bugs me off that the symbyonte is portrayed in almost all adaptions as the evil one and Norman is a good lad (more or less).
This scene proves that Norman Osborn is capable of deception and manipulation even as the Green Goblin. And his "Death" will drive his son Harry into becoming half the man his father had become, But much worst. it'll lead to Harry figuring out Spider-Man's identity as his best friend Peter Parker, whom Harry now sees as an enemy and the only man that Gwen Stacy loves. And it will consume Harry Osborn with Jealousy and hatred, turning him into a Goblin. Like his Father before him.
And I have a feeling Harry would have died fighting Spiderman which would force Norman to return wanting revenge. This would lead to him capturing Gwen and killing her.
@@DarthEqualizer better, Harry would meet his father again after he finds out he faked his death. This will lead to the Osborns setting up a plan to destroy Peter Parker/Spider-Man both mentally and physically.

@@AaronPablos-ll3vk There's no way, man. I know it appears quite confusing, but the flashbacks and Norman's narration explain everything. Harry was blacking out, that's what happens when you take a potent dose of the liquid, Norman diluted it with water and vaporised it for inhaling. The apparent, coincidental timing is due to the writers structuring it to appear that way.
I hated how this Norman Osborn became the goblin with out losing his mind which only makes him a horrible person and father to have created other villains like sandman rhino and ock and to frame your own son to avoid going to jail tbh he deserves a lot worse than to be presumed dead
we have enough “person with other evil goblin personality”. i prefer when a villain can just be evil, and a bad person completely in control and aware of their actions
It was wild seeing this episode when spectacular was still on Disney+ and realizing this was the end, which made me feel all the pain every fan must've felt
The thing i hate about this is that Greg Weismann has a strict no spoiler policy so even if the show has practically no chance of being revived due to rights limbo, he'll never reveal how Norman survived.
I love how the ripped mask ties into the storytelling, as it allows viewers to see how shocked Peter, and not just Spider-Man, was to hear that his best friend was a pawn being manipulated and used by his own father.
Although Hobgobin never appeared due to the show’s cancellation, it feels cool they gave his ongoing mystery and twist to Green Goblin here with the revelation in the finale and framing scapegoats.
That studio was, of course, Disney, who ended up acquiring Marvel. one year after Iron Man released. Because of this, Disney now had the rights to make a Spider Man show, so Sony could no longer continue Spectacular Spider Man.
I hope Norman Osborn stays pure evil in future seasons the modern comics screwed up Norman’s character he’s supposed to be the most evilest Spider-Man Villain as well as Carnage.

I know everyone including myself wants more seasons to be made. But there's a guy who actually made his own version of what season 3 to 5 could have been. Along with what the short films could have been as well. It's really great. Especially how he brings Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson together without killing Gwen. The way he has MJ find out that Peter is Spidey. Is really nice. She sees how much he and she have in common. When she tells him. That she knows. MJ tells him about her past. It leads to their first kiss. How they're slowly falling in love. The channel is Lewis fiction. Watch his continuation of The Spectacular Spider-Man. Trust me. You wont regret it.
