Excellent video! Replaced my mirror in under 10 minutes. Your tips were very helpful. My mirror got taken out by a truck retread while driving down the interstate. That was scary! Hit my mirror then took out the car behind me. If it had hit one of the windows, it could have caused serious injury and an accident.
I was stupidly adjusting the a/c while backing out of the garage. Learned my lesson about paying attention even though I've backed out of that garage thousands of times.
Thank you for posting this! It helped me greatly. I just changed the passenger side mirror this morning! Hooray! I've no experience with this type of thing and it went very well. Scariest part was getting that main bolt out without dropping it. I put aluminum foil in all the wholes where it might fall and get lost since I didn't have any magnetic tools or a magnetic catch pan. The tip for taping the bolt to the ratchet when replacing the bolt was smart too. Thanks again.
Nice! The other video has you take the whole door panel off which I didn't think was necessary. This confirms it. Great tip on taping the bolt so it doesn't fall into the door! Thank you.
ur sooo good ..thank you for making this easy one .... some other company here on RUclips wanted us to remove the whole door paneling and some interior cables like wtf?! this was a breeze to do.
Best simple explanation thanks. I broke my bosses mirror with my butt skooting past and all the plastic holders snapped. I taped it back on, looks JUST LIKE YOUR START IMAGE!
Way up there in the top 10 cutest things of all time :-) Also... don't need to know the names of stuff to git-r-done.. thingie, dealie bop, etc.. good stuff This girl''s parents are proud for sure..
Did this today without much trouble! Was paranoid I'd lose the bolt and tried stuffing a preemptive wad of duct tape in place - well, now there's a wad of duct tape living in my door. Good advice, but I'd mention the "hooks" that hold the interior panel in place are sharp. Be careful as you pry that first bit off.
Thanks for this! A deer just took out my side mirror and you are going to save me a bundle on the repair. I'll especially make sure not to drop the bolt inside the door!
Thank you for this wonderful video! I accidentally took out my side mirror in a drive thru and panicked when I saw going to a shop to fix this can be hundreds of dollars 😅 got a replacement for $30 (including tax/delivery) and had to buy some tools which is something I’ve needed to do anyways. Only thing I would add is the 10mm bolt inside the car is also tough to get to as it’s at an angle, so be extra prepared for that (on top of making sure it doesn’t drop!) That alone took me way longer than this video makes it seem but it’s still very doable! If you can have someone assist you with this job
Too late to help now, but a flex head ratchet handle is the ticket for this type of bolt. Harbor Freight has them for a fair price, and probably Amazon also.
Thanks for the instructions. Love the use of terminology that I can understand, ie this deal, these things, and taping that bolt is genuis. And I was going to take it to a mechanic.
Sanity tip: be very careful removing the mirror bolt. It can easily drop into the door, so don't pull the bolt out of the hole. Instead, hold the socket against the bolt and keep unscrewing the bolt. Remove the mirror and keep holding the bolt in place with the socket. Then hold the bolt in place using a clothespin on the outside of the door or some pieces of masking tape. Install the new mirror by starting the bolt into the mirror, then tighten everything down snapping the mirror into place.
Have to do this a second time. Wish I had seen this video the first time BECAUSE I ALSO DROPPED THE BOLT IN. Hahaha. The worst. Those door panel hole covers always get lost or never look the same.
Thanks that helped a lot. My old problem was that piece at the top that you had to pop in. Mine didn't pop in, it just inserted and was lose. Is there something in that oval hole that makes that pop in?
HEADS UP, you also need a 7mm deep socket and a small extension to get the door inside panel off or you cant remove the bolt holding the mirror on. Its also a pain to do. Tip, pop out the power lock and window panel to get the door back on easier after replacing thing....
hi guys, so I did drop my bolt in the door 😤😔 how did you get it out when you dropped it? I got a magnetic snake thingy and all, but I can't fish it out. Also, if I can't get it, what size is. replacement bolt? thanks sssssooooooo much for your help!

Good job. You make it look so easy. Been asking the BF to put the new one on that I bought - for over a year. I will do it myself. Thanks.
get a new bf not a lazy piece of 💩
Excellent video! Between me and my wife we changed the rearview mirror in just 10 min! Greetings from Puerto Rico! Thank You!!
Glad to know I'm not the only Ford Focus driver who took out their mirror after hitting a garbage can.
I was stupidly adjusting the a/c while backing out of the garage. Learned my lesson about paying attention even though I've backed out of that garage thousands of times.
YUP!
there're 3 of us now :D
McDonalds got mine haha
Add me to the list here. my brother damaged the unit first up, and i later on, smashed it into a rubbish bin.
I love that it’s a woman showing how to fix it, so refreshing! 👏👏👏👏

Thanks for this, saved $50 getting the mirror from Amazon rather then O'Reillys and what ever the labor cost would have been..
I spent $26 or $27 on eBay. Free shipping, too.

7 years old and it's still helpin people out, thanks

Just knocked out mine in about 15 minutes, good video!
Excellent help. Thank you. Made it look very easy and simple!
Yet again, shows that most jobs with cars, you can do yourself and save hundreds!
Impressive

saved me 100 in labor. thanks.
I gotta replace mine and thanks to this I know exactly how to go about it. Thank you!
Thank you and thank you Ford for making it so I don't have to remove the ENTIRE door panel just to get at the mirror attachment points
OMG thank you so much you saved me money and I got to appreciate my car more by working on it on my own this video was super educated love it
Nice job. I need to make the same replacement. This was very helpful. Nice camera work.
fine job, great teacher!
Thanks for that bolt-drop warning. I can see how THAT can happen!

Also the bottom part of my mirror feels loose and I’m not sure if there’s any way to fix that or if I maybe didn’t do something exactly correctly

I broke the glass in the mirror and get my part in tomorrow so thank you for the video

THIS GUY IS A GENIUS!

Just swapped out my mirror. Thanks for your help!
Thank you for the informative and extremely helpful video! Good job!
The door panel does not have to come off on the right side at least , just did this today, 05 focus.
excellent video.. really helpful..
Top Tip: trying using the 'door reversing mirrow' when manovering near garbage cans hehehe Rich

Have to do this a second time. Wish I had seen this video the first time BECAUSE I ALSO DROPPED THE BOLT IN. Hahaha. The worst. Those door panel hole covers always get lost or never look the same.
It’s so cute she says, take the thing and put it into the thing and the electronics and star socket😊
thank you so much !! you did a great job of explaining -- also great idea to put tape on the socket wrench ... i changed my mirror no sweat
You make it sound and look so easy, thank you very much.
LIKE A BOSS! Good tip to use tape on the socket. Nice job.
Thank you so much for sharing, this is an excellent tutorial, extremely helpful.
Thanks a lot for the help. You made it look easy and following your example, it really was. You saved me a bunch of bucks so mucho gracias.
Thank you so much!! Saved a ton of money doing it myself. Merry christmas and a Happy New Year!!
that main big hole in the middle. is that threaded on the inside?
What bolts does the mirror take? Mine was ripped off and i no longer have the bolts.
Thanks that helped a lot. My old problem was that piece at the top that you had to pop in. Mine didn't pop in, it just inserted and was lose. Is there something in that oval hole that makes that pop in?
Very well demonstrated,to the point.
I like your style♡
Can I mount it if a portion of the "mounting plate" that the new mirror attaches to on the outside of the car is missing/torn off?
i followed this guide step by step, and when i removed the bolt , the headlight fell off ? have i loosened the wrong thing?
Here i am thinking i was about to burst a sweat. Thanks
Are you sure you don't have to take the door panel off since it's power?
thanks did a great job! now ill be stressing about that bolt falling in the door he he
Nice job, Thanks for the instructions
Does anyone knows how folds the sides mirrors on this model of Focus?Manually or electrical?
Thanks!
HEADS UP, you also need a 7mm deep socket and a small extension to get the door inside panel off or you cant remove the bolt holding the mirror on. Its also a pain to do. Tip, pop out the power lock and window panel to get the door back on easier after replacing thing....
Great job explaining!!
what size of screw is the smaller one that uses the tox screwdriver?
Are you sure you don't need to take off the door panel since the mirror is power
thank you so very much....excellent tutorial!
works on 2010 focus little more work but simple thankyou
life saver thank you! i also took my mirror out with a lampost in my driveway tho.
it worked thank you very much... save me money
hi guys,
so I did drop my bolt in the door 😤😔
how did you get it out when you dropped it?
I got a magnetic snake thingy and all, but I can't fish it out.
Also, if I can't get it, what size is. replacement bolt?
thanks sssssooooooo much for your help!
Dropped mine too.. did you by any chance figure out what size bolt??
Awesome!! Thanks so much!
Super you are the best thank you.
Multumesc ,azi am reusit sa pun oglinda datorită tie !!!
Great job with the video.
great and easy to follow....
You have to buy a new mirror even if it just got knocked off n dangling?
Dartanian Bueno If it is snapped/damaged and you can't reattach it, then yes.
or run a new bolt / nut to hold it in place for awhile.. dangling sucks..
Very helpful,thanks
having trouble refitting the plastics on 2007 focus might have to remove the whole assembly .. anybody got any ideas ?
hey that new mirror didn't have a little white deally
This is very helpful. Just broke my mirror when some asshole decided to double park on a one way street and I needed to pass said jackass
Is this mirror heated?
And impact driver and a 3/8 adapter with an extension and the 10mm on the tip would be the sure way to go.
Where can I find the T-20 screws?
inside the door LOL
very nice!!! thank you!!!
gonna get my wife to do mine as well, after all it was her that the lamp post jumped out on.
lol
i hope she leaves you I'd treat her right

So awesome
Thanks a lot
Good video "how to".
Thanks
It was a mailbox for me 😅
Oh your good lady !
"the nextht thtep.."
With a European Focus you have to remove the whole door panel to unhook the wires.. :/
that feeling when your spouse tears off the sideview mirror on the house and says that they will fix it but they never mention it again
id fix it for you. drop them
Come do my sons car please!!
so i am not the only one that hit a trash can and need to fix the mirror. by the way i don't think the technical name is "THING"
Why in the fuck is the mirror a grand when I can get one for less than $20 on other sites?
:)
Thanks for this video
