- We bring the 66 Big Block 427 Corvette back for some upgrades! With the 4.10 rear gear this 5 speed transmission will make it much more enjoyable to drive! It's a tight squeeze but it fits right in with no modifications!

On our 65’ L78 car, we ended up pulling the transistorized ignition out and installed/hid an MSD billet distributor and black 6AL digital box for the exact same reason. Intermitten misfire BS that would come and go.... Runs 10x with the MSD stuff.
I’ve also found those repro stainless braided wires are pieces of shit. I ended up using black MSD wires and took brake cleaner to them to take the letters off...so it looks stock-ish...
Keep up the good content. Cant wait to see the 66’ and the new blue coupe at the track.
I love 63-67's. The turbo jet big block hood from 65-66 is my favorite hood too. I love what you guys do keeping them stock looking but making them run. My dad had a 64 coupe with the 365 horse 327 when I was growing up in the 80's. I still miss that car. Very cool channel guys!
Thanks for watching!
I bet the thing revs nice and fast now with that light flywheel! The 5 speed is a nice upgrade for sure.
Loved the aluminum flywheel and Rev Loc clutch in my 57 Chevy. RPM's were instant. :+)
i always use the factory pickup points on those old chevys, something about 4 carb bolts in an alum intake holding 500+Lbs over a pc of history scares the ba'jesus outta me
Yeah I get what your saying.
With the lighter flywheel & overdrive too this will be a yet sweeter ride when you get it dialed in!
I always liked the big block hoods on the 65-66 better than the 67 stinger hood. Blue isn't too bad either. Looking forward to what you guys figure out!
Sweet-ass car made even sweeter with the 5-speed.👍
Why the aluminum flywheel, don't you lose centrifugal momentum during shifting?
Awesome content guys keep up the great work. My favourite channel by far.
Thank You!
Out of curiosity, I wonder if this young guy is related to a Rockerfeller? A ALOT money in all those old cars!!!
If you're running the old points system, yes go to HEI and run non resistor plugs.
Shouldn't be, T.I. was a required option for the L72.
We made a removable crossmember for my dad’s 64. We race a Gforce 101A and factory position
Is that a stock l72 427 425 hp cam??? It sounds a bit spicy...;) I like it a lot!!!
The engine has been rebuilt at some time we don't have any idea what's inside, Sounds a lot like the car we have that has a stock L88 cam. I agree it sounds great!
Great video and Corvette.
Very nice install hope u get ignition sorted out
If you put a lot of power down, you might consider looking into Tom's Differentials, out of California, if he's still in business. He was building heavy duty axles for that era Vette, and in my mind, any big block Vette should get as many drivetrain upgrades as possible, because as you know, torque BREAKS "stuff!" First Gen Camaro aficionado here, but that's one nice car! lol
We actually run a Tom’s 12 bolt in another car. Check out our other videos. It’s a 69 Black L88 corvette.
Beautiful car remines me of the 66 i had everything is the same other then the engine
Your content has been awesome!!!
Thank you!!
Car is a bit loud but kudos for not putting those cluttered looking silly side exhaust on the vehicle. I think men with low 'T' need them.
We’re not side pipe fans.
i think you cracked the distributor cap
Could be, we tried to keep the engine supported enough to not let that happen.
Great content! I am buying a TKO for my 65. I talked to Silversport transmission. They said that they machined some on the TKO in two areas. For the C2’s. One for the shifter the other in front of the shifter. Not sure if yours is machined for a C2 or not. Now discontinued. And on to the TKX. The one I’m buying is a TKO and a great deal. Upgraded from its weak points. Hopefully mine goes somewhat as smooth as yours did. Thanks for the video!
and they say old cars are easy to work on
Usually they are. Corvettes suck to work on no matter the year!
Big ass job! UFFDA 😅Granny gear now in 1st😅
This is another bad ass car in your garage. Longevity aluminium vs steel on the flywheel?
I want to put a TKO in my 65 C2 and can not find anyone who makes the tail housing with offset shifter anymore. I know Silver Sport used to sell them, but they no longer do.
Awesome job ! The 5 speed is definitely one of the best upgrades for that C2.
Btw. what are you going to do with the old 4 speed ?
It will probably get put in storage for the car if we ever want to go back to original.
Just thought I would let you know you misspelled tremec in your thumbnail don’t want you to go through the grief I have to go through in my comments all the time
Dang. Nice catch! Thank you! I can’t believe the internet professionals haven’t tore me up for that yet lol.
@@HorsepowerDepot they are very good at it you can delete my comment if you don’t want people to know you did it, as allways good video
Loosen the bellhousing up and it will go
Hey you guys got the original 4spd out without pulling the motor...I have a 66 and needs trans work didnt think it could be done without pulling the motor
Yes pull the shifter assembly and mount off of the transmission. Slide it back then twist it and it will come out.
@@HorsepowerDepot thanks guys enjoy your videos
I had a hard time getting the trans out untill you take out the así tray.
Beautiful car. What color is it?
Nassau blue.
That’s a downgrade IMHO. ANYTHING is a downgrade from a Muncie. Especially the M-22 Rock Crusher. Want a more tractable car? Switch out the rear end to 3.08.
Ford parts make a better
Knock it off, 'eh? Smh...
