Ryan Leaf is doing a heckuva job. I’m glad to see him thriving in life and not a cautionary tale like so many players that have a dramatic fall from grace. He’s a more than able fill in for Rich. Continued success to him.
He's got a great personality - the man has crashed and burned and arisen from the ashes of his own character flaws... to become this entertaining delightful man we see now
Peyton Manning seems to want to be a personality in the sports world in retirement, but Ryan Leaf is leaps and bounds better than him in this regard. He has a personality and a presence better than Manning, which says a lot. Leaf will have a longer career in sports broadcasting than Manning had in the NFL. He'll probably make more MONEY too! Lol.
Yes. The clean and sober Ryan Leaf is a natural at this. I am impressed. Recovery will be his full time job forever, but a measure of success might help keep the demons at bay. A tip of the hat to Rich Eisen for providing the opportunity to both Ryan and those of us in the audience.
I’m glad that Ryan Leaf has turned his life around. He’s owned up to the mistakes that he’s made and is taking responsibility of his life by being apart of this show.
This man needs his own TV show I knew who he was and his story but never really knew his full story and now he he explains itself he's a really good guy I like him we need to hear more from him
It's good to see someone like Ryan Leaf who had so many struggles and set backs get to such a good place. He's got a great attitude and can bring one of the most unique insights to covering the NFL. I hope he continues to get good opportunities...Monday Night Football could use him.
His hands are not even close to as small as picket while inch and a half difference. 8.5 is waaaaaaaay too small for the league aint no way this guy is anything more than a back up
When people mention his hands it's not them saying " this is why this qb won't work in the nfl" it's them pointing out something that COULD be an issue.
I'm so happy to see that Ryan has in essence turned his life story into an overall success story from the draft to now. I remember that draft. He persevered
Ryan Leaf is earning his own show. He has the voice, the personality, and the intellect. When Rich is out the show is unbearable, but Ryan has done a sensational job.
I'm glad someone mentioned this, I was starting to wonder scrolling down if I was the only who noticed this. I think he was a little under 6'6" at the combine (which is about 78 inches).
"you'd be the clubhouse leader at ten and a half, Russel Wilson, active leader comes in at ten and quarter" "so.....we saw how that all worked out for me..." as Ryan illustrates, being quick to use yourself as a punchline while also acknowledging your position may be wrong is a very effective way to communicate. nothing builds trust faster
I have to admit, I absolutely love Ryan Leaf filling in for Eisen. I would have never imagined he would be doing this well and how much I enjoy listening to him.
I think Leaf has done a fantastic job filling in for Rich. Perhaps this will lead to him getting a hosting gig or co-hosting gig with another program or maybe an analyst job, especially during the draft season. His insight into the combine and what the numbers really mean was interesting.
Good to see Ryan doing a great job he seems like he’s a very likable guy unlike the way the press made him out to be I hope these guest appearances grows into your own show I’ll subscribe good luck in future
I first want to say I am happy to see Ryan Leaf doing well & nailing the host job. Secondly, the hand size pretty much summed up in this clip when he says his hand size is 11in.....& we all now the minimal success he had in the league. It's not what you do, it's how you do it.
I’ve seen a young Ryan Leaf firsthand Pullman and elsewhere in the PNW. To see that bratty, misguided child turn into the man he is today, after all the struggles (self inflicted as they were) is great. He seems so much more comfortable in his own skin. Nothing but respect and admiration for what he has done to turn his life and attitude around. And he’s a natural at this stuff.
Wouldn't it be hilarious if he has a longer career in sports broadcasting than Manning had in the NFL AND makes more money at it? I think that would be poetry.
The circumference of college footballs ranges from 20 3/4 inches to 21 1/4 inches lengthwise from end to end, versus 21 inches to 21 1/4 inches in the NFL. At the widest point of the ball, the circumference is 27 3/4 inches to 28 1/2 inches in college and 28 inches to 28 1/2 inches in the NFL.
@@doct101 He said 66 inches and grew to 67 inches. Maybe we should have changed to the metric system in the 60’s to make measurements easier for math-illiterates.
Ryan Leaf is a hell of a commentator. If he can’t get his own tv show platform, I hope Rich Eisen can at least help Leaf get the groundwork started for a podcast. If that happens, Mr. Leaf already has one subscriber. Good stuff!
Wow I am really enjoying Ryan leaf as a host! Rlly happy as a chargers fan that he is turning around and doing much better. I would love to see him host his own ESPN show. Much love! 🤙🤙🤙
It is funny that not a single comment about this video (or others) is what Ryan is talking about. They are all about his exceptional growth as a man and human being. And, he is so good in this forum. He has the humility and self-awareness to be able to
I was never a Ryan Leaf fan of course since I am a diehard Las Vegas Raiders and USC Trojans fan but I commend him for his comeback as a sober and productive member of society and I think he has finally found his true calling. I would love to see him do a show along side Rich Eisen
As a Denver fan I’d love to see the Broncos get Rogers but it’s never gonna happen. The price is just to steep. If you don’t give up players, those draft picks become worth a lot less because Roger makes almost any team into a contender. Give up enough players and now you got Rogers and… basically nobody because you gave up everything for Rogers.
@@hugh-jasole I mean it’s an upgrade over what we had. But I dislike giving up Harris and Fant as part of the deal. Do I think it puts us at Super Bowl contenders? No I don’t. But it should make us playoff contenders.
Leaf is great at this. I seriously don't care about watching or hearing anyone talk about sportsball, but I'd watch Leaf talk about this stuff all day. Hes just an interesting dude.
Ryan Leaf guest hosting is great, I did not know that this was part of his skill set. To be fair, we didn't get to see him in action enough to really see what he could have been. That being said he has presence as a host
Man i think Leaf is doing a amazing job. Great to see him in great spirits. The hand size thing is a old school view of football. The game had changed over the years. Look what Burrow did with his small hands in his second year, dude made the SB and possibly had the best season ever of any college QB
This guy's ability to make fun of himself and his past 'failures' and turn them into positives that contribute to who he is now, wow do I have massive respect to him.
Ryan Leaf is doing a heckuva job. I’m glad to see him thriving in life and not a cautionary tale like so many players that have a dramatic fall from grace. He’s a more than able fill in for Rich. Continued success to him.
He's really good. Good voice for it too.
Yep, he’s doing pretty good
I’d argue that he remains a cautionary tale with hope attached to the end.
He's better than Rich. More of a football mind.
This man is a positive cautionary tale. His failure and future alternative success should be noted.
I'm actually really digging Ryan's guest hosting. I think he's doing a great job, helps that he's able to poke fun at himself
He's got a great personality - the man has crashed and burned and arisen from the ashes of his own character flaws... to become this entertaining delightful man we see now

Yes, Ryan is a great host. And he seems to get better each time he steps in for Rich.
He needs to do what Pat macafee did and start his own show/podcast

It's like Rich lite but with Leaf brew lol
If you aren’t rooting for Ryan Leaf, you have no heart. Great to see him thriving.
Ryan Leaf needs either to be a regular guest or have his own show. The guy’s made for sports talk radio

He is every bit as good as a sports media personality as he was expected to be as an NFL QB lol

Didn't the "experts" say the same thing about Joe Burrow's hands a couple of years ago?

Agree .. Ryan is awesome as the guest host. Funny, knowledgeable, self-deprecating.
They say this anytime there isn't a clear cut "star QB" in the draft, and yet 3 or 4 QBs still go in the top 10 picks.
FOMO
Dont think any going in top 10 this year
All the credit goes to Ryan Leaf for enduring and succeeding. Doing helluva job!
They gotta hire Ryan full time. He's good at this
Is it just me or does an older Ryan Leaf look like a younger Kevin Nash in the face?
