- RARE LARGE SCALE RC Dornier Do 335 (Engine front and back) WWII FIGHTER FORMATION FLYING
Only seen this aircraft as an RC model once before but this version is a nice big scale and flew so well at Weston Park International Model Show with several other fighters.
The Dornier Do 335 Pfeil ("Arrow") was a WWII heavy fighter built by the Dornier company. The two-seater trainer version was also called Ameisenbär ("anteater"). The Pfeil's performance was much better than other twin-engine designs due to its unique "push-pull" layout and the much lower aerodynamic drag of the in-line alignment of the two engines. It was Germany's fastest piston-engined aircraft of WWII. The Luftwaffe was desperate to get the design into operational use, but delays in engine deliveries meant only a handful were delivered before the war ended.
Filmed at the Weston Park International Model Show 2018 with the Panasonic AG-UX180 4K pro camcorder.

First class landing by the Dornier pilot!
I like how he rolled to suck in the stuck gear
They was a episode of “Black Sheep Squadron” were one had to do that to get his gear up.🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣👍🏻✌🏻🖖🏻
Oh the beauty of that do 335, and, the cleverness of those model engineers....perfection. Thanks to you all. Peace be unto you.
That is very unusual but very effective and cool looking, looks like it flies well and looks amazing. Couldn’t ask for a better video quality that that Dom!!
Even as a model this plane is fast..
what beautiful examples of aero modeling. All pieces of art work.
Ist das ein geiles Flugzeug, mein größtes Lob an den Erbauer 😊
Thanks for the video! That is one strange looking plane. It looks like they took a Torpedo and made a plane out of it ;-) It flies very well indeed. Thanks for sharing and Happy Flying!
I've got, and have had for years, a "made in the forest by the elves" RC version of this plane, (made in chiiiiina). It's a blast to fly, stable and fun. It will actually carry up to a 4 cell, 7200 MAH batter which means it will fly forever, (or so it seems.....LOL). I love it, one of my favorite planes to fly.
@@deanodonnell7259 , you need to send those Forest Elves my way as I would like to try one out ;-) See you in the Air!
Another great video Dominic! You sure are busy catching all the action at so many shows!
Yeah...always busy during flying season. It doesn't last long so making the most of it Trevor. Getting all the video edited and uploaded is another matter. One video per day is my target. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
The fastest and most beautiful fighter in World War II
@@paulhicks6667 Beer goggles my ass!..It IS beautiful
That's about the riskiest thing you can do with R/C airplanes is to fly formation with 5 planes like that. The risk of in-air collision is huge with R/C.
Yea and to top it off they were Allied planes
i was waiting to see a mess of a wing to come flying off as someones prop hit someones wing
Some risk certainly. Not too bad if there is a lead pilot talking the moves to the others and they fly nice and smooth. They didn't attempt formation loops, which do have a high collision potential.
At WOD we have had I think 34 in the air at once, all WW1 which has slower speed so more doable but the risk is there for sure. Google Warbirds over Delaware mass launch. It’s 1/4 to 1/3 planes mostly with occasionally a larger plane.
I can believe that, the operator does not have the pilots point of view. Guess this is the risk taken by the owners.
All these people hand starting engines it's a wonder they have all their fingers!
Not really risking more than a good whap.
@@darrendix5163 still hurts like a bitch if the prop is fast enough to cut
Not hard to notice those who've learned their lesson!
I was thinking the same thing.
Not in full power and full speed smh
Beautiful Pfeil!
Beautiful...after, the original, in the war. And now, in peace!
great looking build on a rare aircraft
beautiful model
nice move on getting the gear up....
This looks like a lot of fun
Awesome mate👍🇳🇿
That german arrow is stunning and well flown...Mr.Dornier (french) could rightly be proud of it...Bravo to the RC Builder and airmanship!
French? The name yes, that man, no.
Claude Dornier era ALEMÃO! E NÃO FRANCÊS, APESAR DO NOME! Ele nasceu e tinha nacionalidade alemã!
Cool, i was looking for a Dornier 335 RC video and where else could i find it? This great channel of course! ;) thanks Dom
Todos esos hombres son verdaderos maestros, mis respetos. 🫡
Was it super windy or something? I don't see the trees moving, but all the planes were very twitchy coming down.
The rc aircraft are small and light and don't have much inertia.
In the Fist minutes u can See the banners in the background. And this is a good amount of Wind for rc Planes
Judging by the performance of the model, its a good thing these things didn't go into mass production.... otherwise we might all be speaking German......
Inverting to latch the undercarriage was fuckin slick, nicely done.
I do that a lot. Gravity helps a lot.
Fascinating aircraft.
Hi Essential RC, I knew that push pull double propeller Dornier 335 would win that race. I took a picture of your Dornier on my computer screen. May I use the image for a family biography I am writing? I hope to publish it as an eBook in the near future, Thank you for sharing your hobby.
Which there was a normal-size RC version of the DO 335 for us common folks!
ESM made one
BEAUTIFUL!! What engines are in the aircraft?
Beautiful aircraft...and FAASSSTTT..!!!😎
Hi, I have for some years an unassembled plast model and I'll attempt to use it as a basis to scratch build a foam r/c eletric model, using perhaps two 2822 motors I've bought and never use them... thank you for posting, as the full scale thing, too fast compared with another planes...
Nice Arrow....beautiful plane
You greased that landing with a questionable strut....excellent
Maximum model speed?
Yes
Very nice model and flying job. From what I have read and seen in videos, the Do 335 was, significantly, probably the fastest prop driven plane of the war. We allies probably should be glad it was not put into full production.
@wmden1 It would matter it was the fastest. Hitler would’ve made it a fighter bomber, like the ME 262 jet fighter, and then it would suck.
Where can I get one
Do the motors on the Dornier need to be synchronized or one would be dragging against the other if not .??????
I am designing a large scale Dornier Arrow what wingspan/ scale is this one please?
The civilian version is the Cessna 337G Skymaster.
I like it, but man does it look twitchy.
Yea made me sick to my stomach watching it bobbing up and down constantly, don’t these guys use VR glasses with a camera in cockpit now to avoid this nonsense.
Is that model correct , the 335 had swept wings ?
Wonky Retracts on the 335... Front strut also wiggled badly (to and fro) during takeoff run.
A bit of a landing gear rebuild suggested.
Great.
If you take off the props , to put a jet engine and cut the wings into short triangle and you have yourself a Mig-21 Foxbat.
Hi Essential RC,
Just in case, do you got the instruction manual of the ESM DO-335 please ?
I got the box of this plane today but without the manual...
Thanks in advance,
Best regards to all,
Fab
I just filmed it. This was built by a German team that visited the show.
Does it shoot down those nasty b-24s?
The rear propeller is turning in the wrong direction :)
They need to connect it with a power shaft to synchronize their thrust.
Impressive model. In that flight it saw as much combat as the real thing did.
Looks like the Do was tail heavy in this video
I really want RCers to post the scale speeds of these birds. Get on that, bitte!
Lindo Dornier.
Well I see something very wrong.
The props are only 2 blade ones
Not a Panther well for RC planes 2 blade props are fine
Yes that is right. But a gas model don’t need three. But I like foamies so what do I know 😃👍🏻✌🏻🖖🏻
They are shockingly casual around those spinning blades, yikes!
How come these guys don't use a prop spinner?
I'll try to make this in 1/4 scale (if I have the time and money to )
I see the premium one..
The real dornier do 335 goes 765 km/h
More
And turns like a brick
TheKeyboardPilot u clearly don’t know how the 335 handled then
@@mingo2429 i know better than you
@@Mig29-MF when youre fast, you dont need to turn well.
An electric set up one day would be cool......good flight
There is an electric on YT.
That guys hand starting technique is cringeworthy
Welcome to the world of manually starting a
Plane
I guess so man
But rc planes that run on fual you have to spin the propeller
That arrow needs a triple prop
Класс!
Mr Dom I come across this odd looking German Arrow WW2 Fighter and I has Really Grabbed my Interest ! Very off character for me I usually only consider US or UK Aircraft! Do you have any experience with one of these German Arrow or know anything about them in RC Version,
I got to say no matter what I find I simply look too Essential R.C and There it is,That one of Many Reasons Essential R.C is the Best ! And the Reason I so want to be a Member! Some one that doesn't even fly RC can get the Shirt, I Want to be a member ever if I am the member that lives to far to so up! Will that Stop my Chances of becoming a Real Legitimate Fee Paying Member ???
You're always welcome as a member of Essential RC Charles! Very rare to see a Do 335. I've not seen one of these since.
No sun cross on the tail. Why distort history?
All were beautiful. I just loved it brother, that’s one model I wished would come out as a foamy and 1500mm wingspan to be scale to my 1200mm warbirds.😃👍🏻✌🏻🖖🏻
Now that _is_ unusual. I've only ever seen this aircraft in an ancient Jane's and as a static display model. To be honest it's as ugly as sin but supposedly it was a highly efficient system.
Nice one
where are the swastikas?
I guess some folks don't like to be 100% scale so as not to cause offence. These guys were actually visiting Germans so would be illegal to show a swastika there
Yikes, so much for counter-rotation!
like the real one... its the fastest
I've seen the damage a propeller can do to fingers & it's devastating!
That guy is asking for a world of hurt, reaching over a propeller with loose clothing dangling down.
That's how accidents happen, not to mention setting a extremely bad example for younger flyers!
Agree. Dunno how long this link will last, but here is a pic of him (on the right) sporting what looks like some prop damage: photos.google.com/album/AF1QipMi7RNLXVMB6AjaDJNVA7OF55tfWyj0a5h99KoR/photo/AF1QipOsjdX-zCCEtd5-rYOutu3VwKG573WiHEgqwrSx
keine kapriolen rüdiger!!!!
Rüüüüüdiger nicht so tief
the pilot must be german too because he uses mode 1 transmitter
Almost ALL in europe use mode 1
Neil Anderson different stick layout, right hand throttle and aileron, left hand elevator and rudder
@@oscarzt1652 Oh wow, I would crash flying like that for sure.
Me too Bernard !! 👍🏻✌🏻🖖🏻
So glad they didn't put an ugly damn swastika on its tail. I would have put an Iron Cross on it myself. The Iron Cross has been a symbol of Germany for a very long time, perhaps all the way back to Charlemagne.
The front gear looks like it can snap in half at any time.
Gaints helping pilots take off
Looks silly with 2-bladed props.
I'd really like to see the DO-335 racing the Vought XF5U.
new drones for Ukraine?
Hitlers steel arrow i see
The American Spitfire pilot is the only one who knows how to land his kite.
haha TOOOOYS
