Aww. Bless your heart. My first daughter was due Dec 13 many years ago. I hope motherhood is as healing for you as it was for me. I hope you have all the support and encouragement you need to grow as a person and a mother. Power to you! You'll be in my prayers... from the USA.

Thank you so much for sharing! I was adopted from Seoul as a baby, to a white American Military family. It was the 70s and my parents were pretty much the 1st generation of families adopting from Korea. It has taken me a long time to understand my feelings of "looking different" not only in my family but my community. Keep working... it will come. Good luck with everything!

Hi there, I loved that you spoke so openly about your feelings of adoption. I am from NZ, but live in the U.S. I married a Korean adoptee and we just adopted a baby boy from Korea in 2011. He is now almost 3. It's fascinating to hear different experiences. My husband was never really bothered by his adoption and has no real desire to find his birth family. At least, that's what he says. I think he is afraid to be rejected again. But my son may feel differently when he is older.

Thank you! and yes my parents have probably been better parents than those who are biologically related and for that I am so grateful although it took me a while to realise and appreciate that. It definately is a long road of bonding, emotional ups and downs and social struggles but now, 18 years on, I am finally getting on really great with my family but I think that has something to do with my maternal instincts kicking in! If you choose to adopt I wish you the best of luck! :)

Thank you and congratulations! What a blessing! Yes, the fear of rejection is a very realistic fear for adoptees, whether that's consciously or subconsciouly. As long as you're open to your son about korean culture I think he will grow up in a loving home hopefully knowing he is in a better country but I hope some of my thoughts about being adopted will help inform you on bringing up your beautiful child, my parents had no idea about half my issues and a lot related back to adoption issues :)
