Dang.. I remember the days.. But I got out of CB just before they went to 40 channels.. it got so crowded and folks were just playing with the radios.. Have always wanted to get back to it.. Maybe I will this year.. Great show.. sounds like your in my neck of the woods.. though I am a bit south in Vancouver Wa...

I sure do miss talking on the radio. I talked to you several years ago, I was on a look-out point in Iowa. I was talking on a Magnum with the rfx-75 kit I believe. Good times, I miss talking on the radio! 73's to You and Yours...KGE-7432 Iowa
You know your stuff, so I know you misspoke when you said the headphone jack was a 1/8. Almost everything made back in '78, would have had a one 1/4 inch headphone jack. Excellent clip and a very nice transceiver. Just like the madison, had Royce added a frequency counter, it most likely would have challenged the Cobra 2000. I never liked what some referred to as the piano design Style, on the 2000, so I removed the clock on my madison, and replaced it with a frequency counter.
I'm 100% positive that everyone who's followed your Channel, understands that you're 1/8 inch comment, was a slip of the lip. We all know you know your stuff. I'm looking forward to your next clip.
Cool looking radio. Hook it to a Palomar 500w linear and your all set, output is ideal to drive a 500w amp to peak. I used a Washington base with 500w amp in the 80's. Similar kind of radio.
Glad to see cbradiomagazine is back. The 642 was very cool. I don't know if you ever did a review on the SBE Console V, that was such a work of art and was smooth as heck on SSB. Of course with SBE being an acronym for Side Band Engineers, It better be good.
I've always liked sideband radios, so I'd rather have that model, can't recall the model number now. but it looked like this one, though I don't recall the clock. A friend of mine back in the day had one, it was a TALKER after the local tech fixed it up!!

A little history I worked at MIDLAND and for ROYCE in the late 60's early 70's. Royce was started by some of the people who left MIDLAND. Both were located in NORTH KANSAS CITY. Later I worked at KING RADIO/HONEYWELL in Olathe Kansas . Once again a couple of people GARY BURELL and Dr MIN left and started a little company called GARMIN. The grass is better on the other side of the tracks.
It’s crazy I’m not into CBs , don’t know anything about ham radio but I look forward to your review so very calming and interesting
He has a great voice and demeanor.

Built for the days when there was a lot going on and plenty of people to talk to. The good old days.
Wow that's a cool rig, I look forward to seeing your next video.
Thanks for your time and effort
That's a very cool radio.
Love your reviews - clear, clean and concise. I use your website, videos and reviews for reference all the time! Keep up the great work. Thanks!
Love these old radios
the good ol days
I bought one of these brand new from Montgomery Wards. I took them back for not working. Royce had some real quality control issues.
Great work, keep it going my friend.
I used to have a Royce 40 channel AM base. Decent radios.
That is a beautiful machine! Never seen it.
Brings back the 70s. I said CBS were the first social media. Too bad that wasn't were social media ended

Whoops, good catch, I added a note to the video. Definitely a 1/4" old school headphone jack :)

Waving a hand, Ontario Cb Club
I had one years ago, got rid of it because of the un modifiable PLL. Sorry no, very nice on SSB also.
This layout lets me think at a STALKER XX.
I love it good
anyone has the service manual or shcematics for this one?
👏👏👏👍
Is it available for sale?what is the cost price?
The reason this cb has a clock on it is because when you are drunk and you talk to much you forget how long you been talking
