Why do all these videos never mention DRUGS that cause thiamine deficiency? Metformin inhibits thiamine metabolism, fluoroquinolones as well, antacids inhibit thiamine absorption in the gut...metronidazole DIRECTLY DESTROYS THIAMINE, as metronidazole is a thiazole and it binds to thiamine, turning it into thiaminase (aka, NOT THIAMINE). Very informative video, I appreciate it. I'm experiencing neuropathy symptoms. I was prescribed folic acid and B1 because I was honest and informed the doctor I drink a lot of beer everyday. Very much thought-provoking; 2 questions, however. My nephew passed on Feb 7th due to suspected congested heart failure. He was almost 34; heavy most of his life, and had recovered from Covid at the end of 2021. I suspected long Covid, because of his bloating, overall tiredness before his death, etc. I do not know if he was taking multivitamins or even if he had been under a doctor's care. His diet was notably high carb (all academic now), but could there also be a complication from a B1 vitamin deficiency? Is there any research into vitamin therapy to combat long Covid?
@Brent J But what exactly is “mega dose”? Vitamins need to be taken as seriously as pharmaceuticals and I’ve noticed that people are popping supplements like candy and not paying attention to dosage and their own body stats. Vitamins and minerals are great. Large doses of anything can be lethal. I see a problem on RUclips of nobody explaining this recurring problem of people “mega dosing” and not actually knowing how much to take. Since not all bodies are the same.

Very informative video, I appreciate it. I'm experiencing neuropathy symptoms. I was prescribed folic acid and B1 because I was honest and informed the doctor I drink a lot of beer everyday. Because of your video, this makes sense as the excessive carbohydrate intake and at the end of your video you mentioned dry beriberi symptoms which Max exactly what I have.
You also need B12! Drinking can cause a B12 deficiency also and it's a leading cause of neuropathy. I'm shocked your doctor didn't prescribe it for you too. Also don't take folic acid bc it's the synthetic form of folate- so take folate instead. Take good care of yourself. Jesus loves you 💓

How come the adult RDA for B1 is about 1.2mg. But the capsules sold are commonly 250mg to 500mg! And they say to take 1 to 2 capsules per day! Am I reading something wrong??
1,2mg é a dose fisiológica mas quando se trata de suplementação e com fins terapêuticos deve ser uma dose muito maior para eliminar determinados sintomas. Além disso apenas cerca de 10% a 20% é absorvida pelo intestino

Vitamins need to be taken as seriously as pharmaceuticals and I’ve noticed that people are popping supplements like candy and not paying attention to dosage and their own body stats.
Vitamins and minerals are great. Large doses of anything can be lethal.
I see a problem on RUclips of nobody explaining this recurring problem of people “mega dosing” and not actually knowing how much to take. Since not all bodies are the same.
