    I love the idea of granular security settings but I'm thinking the ability to lock users to a dashboard so I can give my kids control of their own room but not the whole house.

    • @diedrichg
      @diedrichg 8 месяцев назад +2

      I hear you. In the meantime there is currently the ability to have a user see only certain cards. You can use a Conditional Card and then set the User as a condition for visibility of the card. You will see two tabs; one that says Conditions and the other Card, the Card tab is how you choose which type of card is actually displayed.
      Cut and Pasting of cards will be essential to easily transition from your current dashboard to a conditional dashboard.

    I'm sorry to be that guy but voice in HA is like voice recognition and control in the late 1990s - technically there but almost entirely useless. The biggest cloud vendors have issues with delivering usable voice control, and our little local systems running mostly on Raspberry Pis are nowhere near any practical usefulness.

    • @AtracBreezy
      @AtracBreezy 8 месяцев назад +3

      Yeah voice control as a whole is kinda behind. Home Assistant is bottom of the barrel in that departments. So many other things they could’ve worked on in 2023 than improving something that honestly is going nowhere.

    For me, organizing (grouping and tagging) the Automations is ESSENTIAL! Home Assistant has become extremely sophisticated and polished with Automations being able to be created 100% in the UI, and recently with newer terminology and grouping of conditions and actions. Organizing is the next logical step to further polish Automations.
    But, yeah, I'm desperate for Automations grouping AND tagging. The tagging will be essential so that search can find what you are looking for instantly.

    • @JelleRevyn
      @JelleRevyn 8 месяцев назад

      I'm using the HACS scheduler component with the lovelace scheduler card. Made a dashboard for my automation and created all the easier ones with that. I tagged the automations and then made groups on the dashboard. Imo the dev's should really look into integrating this. Maybe as an "easy builder" and you can switch back to the old automation when you need to do something more advanced.

    • @Hardwar3_Hack3r
      @Hardwar3_Hack3r 8 месяцев назад

      Tagging is needed, but as their alpha sorted, i just add a "Notify - " as an example in front, easy to find the one to edit or duplicate.

      I seriously want integrations to be creatable through the config file, you won't believe how many times that would make a lot of things just that much easier, sure, continue to add UI stuff, how about when I want to move some config from one setup to another, as it is now, I'll have to set everything up again, this is actually getting worse and worse each update,
      Especially when it comes to things like the UI clearing all inputs if you misstype (ex: the host and port reseting if you type the wrong password)
      One of the reasons I run a mix of hass and node:red at home

I've built a corresponding dashboard (with appropriate levels of complexity) for each of them, and ensured they can't access the other dashboards. Everyone in my house has been happy with this for years. Why wouldn't you just do the same?

    I think that having tags and notes as optional fields in all devices, entities, automations, scripts and blueprints, will be immensely helpful.
    Firstly, searching will no longer be an issue across the board and the UI change is minimised just because it'll be the same implementation across all of the pages.
    Secondly, it allows users to add custom notes (like battery notes, but not for batteries).
    Finally, it'll allow us automators to group items flexibly using tags and search through our list of customised entities easily using templates.

    I want a way to "call" or "message" the voice Assistant using a software based solution, like mumble (open source, self-hostable VoIP software) for voice and IRC,xmpp, mattermost or email for text or matrix for both
    Imagine "calling"(joining a voice channel) your home assistant, talking, and getting a response, all without needing to expose your hass/network to the internet
    I pay about $5/month for a linode server, and it's hosting both my website, and xmpp+mumble
    Now, I've almost managed to set up something like that (mumble) on a raspberry pi running the assist-satelite(wyoming-satelite and local wakeword detection), I just haven't managed to route assists audio in(mic), to mumbles audio out (speaker)
    And the other way around, and once I do, it will be a huge bodge
    Honestly I'd like to see the text ones as things you can add to your automations too, you shouldn't need assist to react to simple commands,

    Neural networks are gonna be essential for real smart homes.
    As it's common in this age we're using terms way ahead of their times: we don't have smart homes, right now we're making (at most) autmatic homes.
    There is nothing intrisicly smart in voice comands nor automations.
    Smartness is about adaptability.
    We'll enter the real smart home field when something will be able to read and ponder all our little devices, and orchestrate everything based on us without the need for automations nor anything else.

    I would really like HA to be able to use Coral TPU for voice assistant or AI in general, since some user already have it for frigate and it is quite a big deal.
    Also, I would like to add a disk to my home assistant running on docker (Supervised), without using SMB...

    Better control over the network stack is very much needed. Being able to set a default gateway, or even VLAN tagging would be great!

    Granular user control, pleeeease! I've been waiting for ages to have this. I hope at least this prediction is right.
    LLM making voice commands more flexible and maybe some way of HA guessing automations from users behavior, would be nice too.

    Ah. And I Hope they would put consumption in €/$ per device in the energy dashboard. And not to have to make a workaround and put those devices into the Gas consumption to be able to see cost per device..
    Other than that, a bette way to control the dashboard and cards to make it much more easy to resize etc.. drag drop.. etc

    Dude. Have you any idea about llm‘s or are you just think it’s cool?
    Honestly most ppl are running has on raspberry pi. How in the world would you be able to run any llm on that device?

    I hear this year is going to be the Year of Matter, so what I'd love to see is them working on Emulated Matter for better interoperability with other platforms like Alexa or Google Home. The fact that in order to expose your HA stuff to Alexa for free requires you to dive in and create your own skill, which is stress inducing on a good day, is frankly a bit absurd to me.

    Automation organization by labels would be amazing and is on my dream list. Growing off your granular control section, I would love a good way of having a guest user quickly be able to jump in to a simple dashboard. A UI upgade I've been hoping for for years is a refresh of the sidebar, being able to put things as a submenu or something would be amazing.

    I hope this year brings some dashboard quality of life improvements and better control/support for media players. Having a native remote card or something with good controls would be great. Same goes for multiform audio

    Is like to see a tighter integration with node red. I use it for all my automations. Not sure why but I like it.
    Also, I never really use the dashboard. I occasionally hunt in the default one, but most control is done via Alexa
    Maybe this year I'll use it more.

    Wish making a dashboard was like dwains dashboard with areas drag and drop and being able to customise but all without code
    All can be edited easy from your phone

    Allow more advanced automations. I have a node red automation that uses a schmitt trigger and power monitor to detect when the washing machine has finished. I would like to remove nodered and use python scriptlet ? as an automation in home assistant.

    For automation organization, I currently use numbers. I group all automations within a specific number range.
    For example, the living room has a number range from 000 to 100, and so on. I name my automations using a format like #001 - Ceiling Light On. This way, I have an organized automation list, arranged by room or floor. This method has worked well for me; the only thing to keep in mind is remembering the number range assigned to each area.
