    "Lust's call to power is... intoxicating. Even more so when one is fueled by grief." It's not just me who thinks that sounds like she's talking from experience, right? It sounds like she's admitting to being fueled by grief?

      Good obeservation I suspect she felt grief from killing her kin. She seems more emotional than the other horseman so the burden may be more difficult for her to overcome. Death still held some regret but accepted his decision mostly where as fury may have not.

      We figured the grief she was talking about was Rampage's death, but those other possibilities are likely as well.

    • @JohnDoe-wx2st
      @JohnDoe-wx2st 2 года назад +6

      She was grieving rampage throughout the whole game. She told Rampage in the opening scene that she loved him so much and when he died her voice was full of hurt in the middle of her fight with Wrath. Lust preyed on that.

    I appreciate the subtle references to her Biblical counter part. Black Rider wields a set of scales. ⚖. The majority of Fury's weapons are dichotomy-based, with symmetry, 2-into-1, and weight/motion based skills. While she starts out unbalanced, her character arc has her humbled and REBALANCED spiritually.
    God I love this series.

  • @BjornV1994

    I don't think that her personality has changed all that much over the eons between the day they got their horses, The Abomination Vault Crisis, War's rampage and the Apocalypse, but that everything depends on the situation at hand.
    While it is true that she appeared to be more calm in the Abomination Vault, there is no denying that her appearance in the novel is brief and therefore might not paint the whole picture. In "Darksiders III", she has moments of wonder and interest, where she is calm and collected, even early on in the game and I think this is key to her personality. If you want her to be calm and collected, you have to provide her with something that she might find interesting and by showing her respect. In the novel, Death shows trust in his siblings by sharing with them the story of the Grand Abominations, so she remains silent and controlled, and we also see this when the Lord of Hollows give her the Hollows or when she confronted Abraxis. In all these cases, she keeps herself in check as long as they might tell or give something useful. Her lashing out during their inauguration happens because she doesn't care about ceremony and there is nothing of interest for her. But in the novel, we already have signs of her tendency to lash out the moment things stop being interesting or she feels disrespected. When Death tells his siblings that they have to stay behind, we get the following three reactions (paraphrasing here): "If you think I going to stay...", "Who the Hell do you think you are..." and "I don't think that's a good idea". It would be easy to assume at this point that the first two quotes come from War and Strife but the following sentence in the novel, describing that these three quotes were the others complaints, it give us the following order: War, Fury and Strife. Leading me to assume that she was the one who ask Death, who he thought he was, undermining his authority. It is also later revealed by War that she was ready to ignore Death's order but eventually calmed down and decided to stay behind and respect her brother's wishes. And during War's rampage, when he refuses Death's order to come along, she was the one who started shouting that the Council wouldn't be defied, losing her composure the quickest. It might also be that she becomes more agressive, impatient and ferocious the longer she hasn't fought, it might be something builds up over time, waiting to be released.
    Her desire to become Horseman Leader is also not so unexpected when we look carefully at the comics. In the Graphic Adventure, when Death is ordering War to stand down, Fury isn't looking at War but gazing at Death with a glimmer of annoyance and envy on her face. In Death's Door when they are in the Far Fields to obtain their horses, Death is the first to jump towards the herd, leading her to arrogantly ask: "When did he become the rash one." And we also has her desire to defy Death in the novel. So, it might have always been a part of her character to be at least a bit envious of Death, seeing how close on his hide she is. But in all case, both in the novel, the comic "Death's Door" and the game, we also see that does care about her siblings, does worry about them and wants them to be respected. She might once has felt the desire to lead the horsemen (perhaps extra motivated by missions that have occured in the eons between the Abomination Vault Crisis and Darksiders III), but never did she desire to rule over them.

I won't lie by saying that Fury was exactly how I imagined her to be when I read the novel and many things I only picked up after Darksiders III when I revisited the material myself but in a way, I like her better as this unpredictable force. It suits her name also better.
      But is indeed starting to get a lost art in audiences, how often I see people describe something as a plothole while it is just them not understanding something because they don't think things through and the source material doesn't state explain every small detail in detail...

    From what I've seen so far it seems War is the only one who didn't really change at all, he always knew what he wanted and what he had to do. Even Death had to confront his demons from the past with Absolom. Fury goes through a complete mental 180 basically and from what Genesis shows, Strife is going to go through a big change also. Funny how the youngest one is the one who's apparently the most stable. Unless they're saving big character growth for War and Death in the fifth game.

    • @102Starkiller
      @102Starkiller 5 лет назад +2

      I mean War's game was all about getting redemption and proving his innocence that was placed on to him. At the beginning of the game war is angry at basically everyone and everything opting to just push through everything in his path. By the middle/near the end he also gained some allies (Uriel and Ulthane for one) and this time turned his anger away from everyone else and rather Abaddon and the charred council.

  • @RicardoPetinga

    Her name is Fury. Of course she'll be the one most prone to lashing out. Of course that, by the end, she's a tempered Fury, much more focused instead of just feeling like slaughtering a planet full of demons, or two. I saw some comment of someone saying that War, Fury and Strife all lead to Death, which is why it makes sense that Death is the strongest and their leader, but fury and strife do not necessarily have death as the outcome. Strife can, for example, lead to progress, harmony, consensus, lessons learned, etc.. Fury can manifest in an unfocused way that leads to causing more harm or in a focused and self-aware way that can lead to reducing or stopping further harm, i.e., a fury in self-defense, for self-preservation, for the defense and preservation of the innocent, etc., it can be a fury in defiance of Death, and I think that's what defines her much more than envy for Death, lust for power or pride: her defiance. I don't think defiance is necessarily prideful. She ends up defying even her own "sins", her own beliefs and the Charred Council itself.
    I think Strife is similar in some ways, as he represents conflict, including inner conflict, but without the fury clouding his thoughts, which is why he seems to have come to answers more quickly, because his nature as Strife is more introspective, questioning and self-questioning, and not to accept all circumstances and everything he's told, although he does play along as he tries to figure things out, and it's shown in Genesis that he doesn't repress it or hide it behind a code or a rigid belief like War does, he actively seeks resolution, and you can't avoid friction to get there. The cherry on top is that his super form is called Anarchy! A curious fact I found was that an archaic meaning for "Strife" was "earnest endeavor", which I also think fits the character well.

      Honest guess? Personally we think that they're overpowered for the Darksiders universe. We doubt that even Death (presumably the strongest horsemen) or Samael could take Vergil or Dante, much less the two of them together.

      @@sugartoothYT Not the weakest, but the least favored. Why else would she be least favorite among a team of powerhouses? Besides, many of the sins did call her the weakest, and she is the weakest in the lore.

    • @TheStraightestWhitest
      @TheStraightestWhitest 5 лет назад

      @@sugartoothYT I never saw Death's enemies call him the weakest, nor War's. So clearly the opinion of your enemies still matters. Their enemies might not like them, but know damn well that mocking them will have consequences.
      Read The Abomination Vault, or perhaps even the comics, they will clarify. First off, Death and War are the strongest. War's skill in combat rivals Death's according to Death himself, but he has the advantage of being inherently superior in status. He's essentially immortal. Tanked War's Chaoseater through the chest to protect Fury and didn't feel a thing.
      Now as to whether or not Strife is stronger than Fury, I'm willing to bet he is judging by both the games and the novels. He seems far older and wiser, therefore no doubt more experienced. Gameplay can be a tad deceiving, but one of the stronger enemies Fury and War can face got taken out by him in about two seconds. I don't think the writers placed that creature there specifically by coincidence. It was to showcase his power.
      And finally, you may again just brush it off as people messing with her mind, but why does everyone (everyone important) Fury meets fuck with her so? I get the feeling that had it been Death in her shoes, they wouldn't have done so, especially with Abraxis for instance. There's a bit of a general rule to the Horsemen. Everyone knows their strength.
      When all of them show, it's the apocalypse. The games highlight this with the destruction of the Nephillim.
      When Death shows, you really fucked up. The games highlight this with, well everyone who meets the guy minus the Lord of Bones and Samael, which makes sense seeing as they're some of the strongest beings in the entire universe.
      When War shows, something is seriously wrong. The games highlight this with Abbadon's reaction to him on Earth.
      When Strife shows up he's there to investigate something. Even though he hasn't had his own game yet we've already seen this to be the case thanks to dialogue from both the Council and Fury herself.
      But when Fury shows up everyone treats it like a pathetic, desperate, last ditch attempt at settling things.
      Why? Here's why; because she is.
      Why did the council name the other three first before sending her off? Death is missing, War is imprisoned, Strife was already on Earth. They had no one left to send but her.
      She is least favorite, because she is the weakest of a team that only exists to exert power.
      (P.S. I am aware the Council sent her off as a ploy. That only reinforces my point though seeing as they'd expected her to die to the Sins, something they likely wouldn't expect of the others meaning that even the Council itself deems her the weakest.)
      That enough information for you? Lmao!

      We assume that there isn't just "one human form" for each it was probably either a magic item or just using magic like a glimmer or something. Not something that they can all just do at will and have just the one human form. Strife is the only one who has shown to shape shift at all. But we don't really know.

      One of devs explained it somehow, she is indeed a mage, but a battle mage and you can see this in her weapons, as she can "form" weapons depending on what magic power she is using, Hollows themselves do not provide new weapons, its Fury's powers

    • @Xuerios
      @Xuerios 5 лет назад

      @@sugartoothYT Yes, her main weapon has unique abilities, but it just not transform into something by itself, it's transform to what user want to, however we still talk about "basic" scorn. To fuse Hollows powers with Scorn it require significant magical powers - that's what I meant before

    • @Xuerios
      @Xuerios 5 лет назад

      @@sugartoothYT this is more like my explanation, cuz devs usually don't talk a lot. They just quickly said that Fury is more battle mage, cuz whole hollow weapons are possible only because of her powers as a mage
