What kinda steel u using on your goalie skates. U must like them super sharp if u sharpen m every 2 skates.

Skates don't get sharper if you sharpen them more if you keep the hollow the same every sharpen. It just ensures I have a consistent edge. Since post work is so vital now, I end up hitting the posts a tonne and end up with nicks that sharpening every 2 games and only doing 2 passes keeps a consistent edge while not having to grind away steel as much.

I use a stone then lighty hit it with a sweet stick after I sharpen to help with the edges. It works great for me. Now I only do one pass and I stress very lightly.

Very lightly doesn't matter, the sweet stick is pushing the edges inwards. You are negatively affecting the quality of the edge and sharpen by doing this. Change your hollow out to get the feeling you want that you get with adding the Sweet Stick

Have you ever tried going deeper than 1/2 before doing this? Something like 3/8, 5/16 or 1/4?

When the local guy did my skates before they were 3/8ths and inside high. But it was on the old Bauer Vertexx cowlings and I needed 3/8th because the steel was so terrible. With better steel I've noticed the edges bite and hold better so I only do 1/2 and 5/8.

At its best the sparx is a bad sharpening. Find a pro shop that does it right!

Weird, because the best pro shops I've talked to have no issues with Sparx.

After owning a Sparx now for 7 years I’d disagree since many are now paying me to sharpen their skates after bad experiences with pro shops. Can’t even tell you how many I’ve thrown an edge checker on and went wow who let this leave the shop so out of even or tolerance. Goalie cuts aside.
