My son whe he was ten year's old...lol said to me, "Break the shell in the middle of the egg, all way round. Use the back of a spoon. Then peel a band of eggshell all the way round. This releases the tension and the top and bottom shell just come off very easily." Works for me. The ice water also helps.👍
I totally agree about the egg-peeling! sometimes black magic happens and the shells come off so easily, but other times I am removing 0.1% of the shell at a time and the surface of the egg looks as cratered as the moon 😭
Fresh eggs are harder to peel. Also see www.americastestkitchen.com/articles/1072-kitchen-smarts-how-to-make-hard-cooked-eggs-so-easy-to-peel-that-the-shells-practically-fall-off
Bring water to boil with a steamer basket and put the eggs in cold. Steam with the lid on for 15 minutes and then put the eggs in cold water for 10 minutes. Easiest eggs you'll ever peal and you'll never go back to boiling eggs in water. They slide right out of the membrane.
@Magne M Not true, I peel freshly cooked eggs after their temperature is lowered just under cold water directly out of the tap and I never got any issues with peeling them. Just don't lower them too much, they need to be at least warm (not that you need to burn your fingers).
I was searching to recipes to use up my leftover ingredients that were due to expire soon when I came across this video. Let me tell you, it was soooooo easy and soooooo delicious! The best part is, you can really customise this recipe to your liking and it’ll turn out great! Thank you for the video!!!!
Enjoyed this recipe. Regarding peeling boiled eggs, have you tried using a jar large enough to place the egg in (I use a Smuckers jar) and shake it around to break the shell. Take the egg out and peel it.
What also works amazingly well on the eggs with almost zero cleanup is A FORK. Also stirs so you can skip the spatula. Yup, a twofer. Wait-you can put the eggs on the bread with it. 3 for 3.
i have a hack for peeling eggs you might like you use the spoon, there shold be an area on the egg where ites flat, when you rool it around itll become noticable, you peel up a little secten then using the spoon put it under the shell and glide it along it makes smoother nicer looking eggs
Boiling eggs: eggs in a stainless steel pot, cover with tap water just until water covers the eggs, place lid, bring to a boil, turn off heat, let eggs bathe in the hot water bath for 19 minutes, place pot in sink, flood with tap water to cool, add ice to the pot and soak for 10 min to shock the membrane. Peeling: tap each end of egg, then turn on its side and gently roll to crack shell, peel under faucet water, starting with the hollow shell end. Shell will mostly remove in 1-2 sections. Place on paper towel to drain off excess water.
you can peel an egg with a spoon! the spoons shape goes while with a eggs shape. just crack the top and then scoop the egg out using his hand on the outside of the egg to point the spoon towards, so as not to pierce the egg with the spoon. and then scoop out and then rinse in water to remove residue. makes egg cracking fun and quick and easy for me!
The trick to easy peeling eggs isn't baking soda. It's using a thumb tack to put a hole in the bottom of the egg. It allows the water to get inside the shell and adds a layer of separation between the egg and shell. If you don't want to use a thumb tack, they sell a special tool that gets the right depth without worrying about piercing the yolk.
put eggs in to rolling boiling water. around 8 minutes, lift an egg out, spin it on the work surface, if it stands up straight while spinning, it's done. Flush in cold water twice and break the shell, leave in cold water 10 mins. peels easy. That's how the royal Navy does hard boiled eggs
Ooh! This looks so yummy, and even though I have just finished dinner within the last half-hour, I know I could eat a Honeysuckle egg sandwich on top of all that! You mentioned H-Mart, so I checked - yes, we have a huge warehouse in London!!! Thanks for this, it will be a good lunch during this heat. And yes please, show us the strawberry sandwich! (wanna eat that now, too)
Try using a teaspoon to peel eggshell off....just pick enough shell off by hand until you can slip spoon under the shell and gently push it up and around scooping off shell as you go.
Looked amazing so tried it both ways with and without the dijon and really both were delicious I really loved the slight dijon on it Thanks so much for this recipe perfect pregnancy craving too!
That is the most BEAUTIFUL Egg salad sandwich I've ever SEEN!!!!!!!!! OMG YUMMMMMY!!!!!!!!! NOW I Want egg salad... Mine I Use Mayo & Honey Mustard Nice n Sweet!!!! Yummmmm My FAVORITE 👑🖤👑❤👑💙👑💜👑💛👑💚👑🧡👑
Any recipe for a special soft bread? When I see Strictly Dumplings and TabiEats it seems in Japan they have a super soft bread I've been wanting to try. Not to mention the strawberry crème sandwiches. This recipe looks yummy, can't wait to try!
Egg peeling trick: After it's cooled, crack near the center, then slide a small spoon between the shell and the solid egg white. Peel it like you would a potato that way and voila! I showed my gf this trick and I've been designated as the egg peeler since :)
Shell removal hack I learned forever ago from I can’t even remember where: Poke a hole in the wide end of the egg 🥚 with a thumbtack or something before boiling. Once finished boiling, cool the egg down in cold water, drain the pot of the water & shake the pot vigorously back & forth. Shells peel right off with perfect eggs.
Karen A I thought puncturing the shell to let the pocket of air out while boiling was a widely known thing and everyone did that! Was a little weirded out when she “forgot” lol 😇
I do this as well....the hole made by the thumbtack allows the silver out of the egg...no smell or green tint...and allows water to go under the shell for easy peeling.
Also, another hack that is really simple is after cracking the top of the egg, use a teaspoon to get between the shell and the egg- no need to pick all the little bits off as it generally comes off all at once
Fun fact: KEWPIE Mayonnaise contains 4 egg yolks per 500g. The amino acids yielded from the protein of the egg yolks is a key factor for KEWPIE’s tasty, savoury flavour. In Japan, mayonnaise is made with only the egg yolk, as opposed to American mayonnaise which typically uses the whole egg. The egg yolks are what gives Kewpie mayonnaise its deeper yellow colour and its fuller, almost custard-like texture.
I do that too. Put the boiled eggs in cold water to cool them down. Use a quart glass jar 1/3 full of water and put 3 eggs at a time in and shake fairly gently.
was wondering if this was gonna taste yum, i made it and...OMG YUMMMMM ITS AMAZING !! i added a lil curry powder to the mix the next time i made them, and wow that was quite nice too, cuecumber and japanese egg sandwitch love it !!
There is a gadget for peeling eggs. It's shaped like a little funnel. It's flexible. And one end goes over your faucet and the other end pushes water between the shell and the egg. I used to have one.
Eggs will peel easier if put in boiling water. 6 to 7 minutes after you put in boiling water will be enough to get that consistency you need. Loved the recipe.
Thank you for the recipe, I can't wait to try it. I only have one question, with the relish are you using dill or sweet? Also, I would love it if you showed how to make the fruit and cream sandwich. : )
Yes! I was looking for this, I thought it was under another youtuber and I'm like why the heck can I not find it. Thank Goodness I did, I've been craving it.
I also suck at peeling eggs. Older eggs are apparently easier to peel, although I haven't tested that myself. I have steamed eggs and that appears to be more successful for me. They don't all come out perfect, but I feel I have a higher rate of success for some reason with steamed eggs. Delicious recipe. I tried it traditional too, but I like your version better.
Great, recipe! A little tip I learned from J Keni Lopet-Alt; get the water ripping hot and boiling and then put the eggs in. It will cause them to not stick to the shell, they did experiments with a bunch of volunteers, and that is what proved to be the best. They also tried the baking soda technique but that didn't rank high. I sweat by it now
if you want to peel eggs easier just peel them under RUNNING water, it washes away the left over shell and lubricates the membrane that helps make peeling easier+++ if you want a nice crunch, the onions are a good way to ALSO adding some FINELY CHOPPED CELERY will add an extra crunch +++if you want to try something else like the sweet sandwich try ginger sandwiches crystallized ginger mixed with cream cheese and orange juice, mix well, remove the crusts spread on the bread, cut in to 4 pieces and place a mandarin orange segment in each sandwich, this is usually used as a finger food at parties.
There actually is a gadget for helping to peel eggs. It's basically a cup with a lid. You add a little water to it, place in the egg, screw on the lid, and shake it until the shell comes off.
saw this on a korean youtuber called YOUIS 유이즈 and she peels her eggshells with a spoon by first cracking the eggshell and sliding the spoon underneath the shell and peeling the whole thing off in one go. super useful!
Poke a hole in the shell at the bottom (where the air pocket is) before cooking them. Not only will your eggs end rounder as the air pocket can empty itself, but when you put them in the cold water, the cold water will be sucked in and prepare the peeling.
You should get the rapid dash egg cooker! You can get it from amazon and honestly it’s the best to make eggs. No boiling water in a pan. Plus you can customize to make it soft medium or hard boiled egg! You can even make sunny side up eggs or an omelette!
I found a tip that works wonders for eggs: you bring them to a boil, cover for exactly 13 mins, and place them in ice water. It really does help make peeling a breeze for me
Beautiful egg sandwich ! I use the kewpie mayo too, it's the best. Also, I use a small teaspoon, curve side under the shell, and it peels off nicely. Thank you for a great video, new sub here !
Peeling eggs has been a mystery from the beginning of time! LOL Yes! Please do a tutorial on the fruit and bread. The egg salad sandwich looks super yummy too. Will have to try the Japanese mayo sometime.
Try steaming the eggs for the easiest peeling. Use a steam basket in a covered pot. Bring water to a boil, add eggs to basket, cover and steam for exactly 12 minutes, remove to ice bath. When cool enough to touch, they will peel like a dream!

It's just the ice water, grasshopper,,, tap it at the fat end of the egg,, where there is a natural air void,,, peel from there.
I'm Japanese. They're very popular sandwiches.
We can find super cute fruits and whipped cream sandwiches like flowers in Japan.
Japanese food is always presented in such a beautiful way. Especially the sweets. Feast for the eyes and super delicious.
Oh man the fruit and cream sandwich is so good
Yes, I want the fruit and cream sandwich 😍
Yup, me too!!
Let me tell you it tastes even better than it looks. I might have eaten like 20 today....

It looks so appetizing

clumsy cooking, :-) I use lots of salt in the water and eggs peel easy.
You probably cool the eggs down as in the video although they're easier to peel if they're hot.

I have so many egg slicers. They're called knives.

I'd love to see the other sandwich you have pictured there at the end!
Peeling the eggs in the water is such a simple tip, I always did it near a running tap, but reckon this way will be a lot more gentle on the egg...
Got the bread and Mayo at H-Mart today! Definitely gonna try it with mustard and relish!
