- In this video Jake Dekker runs through some of the best strategies to find and catch shiny Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet.
Getting Shiny Pokemon has never been easier in a mainline Pokemon game. Here are a few strategies that will significantly increase your odds of running into a shiny Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet.
There are multiple strategies that can help you find a shiny Pokemon and some strategies can be mixed and matched to further improve your odds. Most of these strategies revolve around Pokemon Outbreaks which can be found on the map.
Using these methods we managed to catch a few shiny Pokemon in under an hour.

Bit of an error at the end there - don't set your switch down for 30 minutes when breeding, as the eggs only stack in the basket to 10, and with egg power level 2 (from a peanut butter sandwich), I get about 35 eggs in 15 minutes. So, you want to check the basket every few minutes and empty it out before it reaches 10.

I got a shiny Skiploom in the over world. Luckily I knew what a shiny Skiploom looks like because shinies don’t sparkle or chime like in Legends Arceus. That’s something that Gamefreak really needs to fix.

I'm adamant I KO'd a shiny Avalugg because I didn't know what it looked like until a normal one walked by in the background.
Add in red/green colourblindness and the not gleaming and pinging is actually problematic due to my eyes.
@@nickym1683 Pokémon appear as a different color in the shade as well. This is why we need indicators in the over world to let us know it’s shiny.
I beg to disagree. It's harder for me to look for shinies even with the mass outbreak glitch. I really cannot get one to spawn. And I wont really bother looking for Herba Mystica just to get one. I would rather be better off completing the entire Pokedex than bother for a shiny. PLA has a better system than S/V for shiny hunting.
Does this work if you just begin the game when doing the first tip?

Caught a shiny Mudbray and Tarountula. Did it the old school way of just playing the game and wondering around.

Sorry this is kind of a dumb question, but in arceus it was obvious it was a shiny pokemon because you got the noise and obvious animation. I have beaten the game and only noticed fighting a shiny one time, is that right or am I just not realizing when it's shiny? Whats the easiest way to tell?
In my experience, sending out your Pokémon with ZR (not R) helps because your Pokémon won't auto battle a shiny

This may seem like a monumental task, but it is actually very common for JRPGs to have exceedingly difficult / time consuming end game challenges

Bruh I've been hitting the surprise trade for 3 days straight trying to get a foreign ditto and haven't had any luck. Either no one is catching them, or everyone is holding on to them.

Haven't gotten a single ditto out of the surprise trade. Everyone is either trading the same handful of mons, or are trading off their hatched starters since they are shiny grinding.
