The first 15 TurboGrafx-16 hidden gems - ruclips.net/video/VQsFZdc5yKM/видео.html Underrated PC Engine games (TG16 imports) ruclips.net/video/EOSekuq7zTY/видео.html
Blazing Lazers was one of those..."I cant believe my mom bought that for me" type of games rare and few in between but she also bought me MK on Genesis when that came out...WILD af..love you mom!!
John, I just wanted to say your enthusiasm, laughter, and passion for the games you review are what draw me in for each video. I also enjoy gathering your knowledge on many of the games that I've never really been exposed to, just like this whole video pretty much. It's all a nice change of pace from the AVGN style, overly serious, or cheesy RUclipsrs out there. Thanks for what you do and keep 'em coming! You rock man!
Part of me has wanted to get one of these, it was such a mythical thing when I was a kid. We all had Nintendo’s and Segas systems but none of us had the Neo Geo or the Turbo graphics 16.
Do it if you can. You will not regret it. I didnt have a TG16\PC Engine back in the day and I got a PC Engine Duo R about 8 years ago and it's the console I play the most outside of current consoles. What's even crazier is because of the popularity of the SNES and Sega Genesis in the early 90s, the TurboGrafix 16 eventually could be purchased for $69.99 in around 1991 if you can imagine that, so a lot of my friends who lived in single parent situations where money was tight had a TurboGrafix 16. These days any TG-16 is a lot more expensive then the Genesis or SNES. If you get one you'll love it!
TurboGrafx 16 is where I have spent the most time since I got a MiSTer FPGA. We never saw it here in Australia back in it's day so it is great to get to experience these game we missed out on.
Double dungeons was a lot of fun. Aero Blasters on the TG16 is the best version of the game. dare I say better than the Arcade version. With how rare TG16 games are these days, i find myself hard pressed to not buy every title I see in the wild. Even ones I already own so I can trade or flip later. Games to look at: Deep Blue Cadash Final Lap Twin Ninja Spirit Psychosis Silent Debuggers Super Star Soldier Victory Run
I never had this System as a kid & never knew anybody with one. My introduction was in a Toys ‘R Us with Bonk. I remember reading about it in magazines & drooling over it. Now as a adult getting into it. But, for years just via Emulation till I recently acquired a PC-Engine : SuperGraphx + Super CDROM 2. Also picked up a PC-Henshin (so I can play TG16 games on it. Also have the Terraonion SSDS3. Love this System!
The game was called Best of the Best Championship Karate when the endorsement deal ran out. You can tell which was the original name by the almost complete lack of Karate involved in this kickboxing game where the kickboxers dress like kickboxers and beat each other up with kickboxer moves.
I was surprised by how fun Chew Man Fu is, one of those surprises for me with the TG Mini. Sidearms is a really fun shooter, it may be a port of a Capcom arcade game but it played great on the turbo
Vasteel was a great one. Final Lap Twin and Silent Debuggers. We had the turbo and the pc cd player for it. We also have the turbo mini. We have a huge collection of these games. Nothing but great memories
I never thought I'd say this about a shooter, but Blazing Lazers has TOO many powerups! It's almost impossible to keep the weapon and option that you like because it's virtually impossible to avoid running into other powerups.
I love my TurboGrafx 16, but my game library is kind of lacking, as I only have 10 games... I'm still holding out hope that the Mini finally comes back into stock so I can buy one for retail cost, not the jacked up scalper price...
I pooped once. I've pooped again since then, but that doesn't take away from the truth that I pooped that one time as well. What I'm trying to say is that this is an awesome video. Been looking for more good games to try on my tg16.
Aeroblasters is so underrated. Maybe not the best SCHMUP on the TG-16, But it's up there. Military Madness is one of my all time favorite games. I've list count of how many times I've played it through.
You still addressed quite a few excellent games kind sir. I haven't had much of an opportunity to enjoy the turbo grafx 16 game library but as i slowly get closer and closer to being debt free i can finally dedicate some time to playing some games I definitely missed out on especially from my childhood and teenage years. The Turbo grafx 16 has an awesome selection of anime style games i would certainly get my enjoyment out of.
Good games. Some of them are also on other platforms. For example Panza's Kick Boxing is also on the Atari ST and Amiga (among others) and it is a very good and deep fighting game. Good video.
Turbo Grafx16/Pc Engine is great. Never Understood why it lack's of popularity outside Japan. For me it would be even better than Genesis/Mega Drive if it had a chance. I particularly like the backstage scenarios and the good perspective that come whit it in this console. Ps: Yes, i'm a Nintendo guy...
Love your Turbo Grafx vids. Reminds me of back in the day. I had this machine and probably every game for it. Which reminds me... How could you have missed Splatterhouse?
Your copy of Double Dungeons seems wrong to me. I've seen Spida1a's review of the game and I'm pretty sure at the beginning you're supposed to meet the Happy Console Gamer who'll tell you the best use of the game is as something to hold a shelf up with or something. Your version seems to be missing that.
Man, I played the *snot* out of Neutopia II! I was no great Zelda fan growing up (still not; that bug just never bit me) But Neutopia II hooked me right in. It's a shame the third entry, plugged at the end of II, never materialized.
Ordyne was my favorite! It objectively wasn't the best on the system and it hasn't aged well, but it's a very competent port of the arcade original and those colors and character designs totally drew me in at the age of six!
I can tell you we a big fan of the gnarly Beat em' Up side scrollers like myself. You should do a video on your top 10 favorite excellent Beat em' Up side scrollers of all-time and incorporate every system in that list. I myself have a few on NES, some on Sega, SNES, PlayStation, etc etc.... Let's see whatcha have!
Double dungeons is high on lotsa peoples lists. Wait what... ? :| On a sidenote: Anyone who's into games like Eyo of the Beholder, pool of radiance, d&d games in general and TGX/PCE needs to check out the title "The Order of The Griffon".
Half these games are terrible. I think all are Turbochips/HuCards, so I will stick to that theme, yes Dungeon Explorer, Neutopia 1 and 2, AeroBlasters, Magical Chase, Dead Moon, Blazing Lazers, are all really good. But other notables, Bloody Wolf, Legendary Axe 1 and 2, Soldier Blade, Cadash, Bomberman '93, all good too. Double Dungeons was terrible!!!!

No Military Madness? I still play that game.
Blazing Lazers was one of those..."I cant believe my mom bought that for me" type of games rare and few in between but she also bought me MK on Genesis when that came out...WILD af..love you mom!!

That’s the exact same reason I got one.
His own collection mostly.

Cratermaze is one of my favs on the TurboGrafX-16 and I was happy to see it come out for the PlayStation 4.
Double dungeons was a lot of fun. Aero Blasters on the TG16 is the best version of the game. dare I say better than the Arcade version.

Games to look at:
Deep Blue
Cadash
Final Lap Twin
Ninja Spirit
Psychosis
Silent Debuggers
Super Star Soldier
Victory Run
1:09 Happy Console Gamer would like to have a word with you.

J.J. and Jeff, Veigues Tactical Gladiator, Military Madness, Final Lap Twin and Ninja Spirit are just a handful off the top of my head.
The game was called Best of the Best Championship Karate when the endorsement deal ran out. You can tell which was the original name by the almost complete lack of Karate involved in this kickboxing game where the kickboxers dress like kickboxers and beat each other up with kickboxer moves.

Legendary Axe 2, the atmosphere in that game is something that didn't exist for the time
flare is waiting
Doh, Legendary Axe 2 was part of the original list
Vasteel was a great one. Final Lap Twin and Silent Debuggers. We had the turbo and the pc cd player for it. We also have the turbo mini. We have a huge collection of these games. Nothing but great memories
With a title like "Dead Moon", I was not expecting it to look like that
Earlier this year I introduced Chew Man Fu to my kids. They like it a lot.
I never thought I'd say this about a shooter, but Blazing Lazers has TOO many powerups! It's almost impossible to keep the weapon and option that you like because it's virtually impossible to avoid running into other powerups.
Nothing like a weapon downgrade just before a boss battle!
Order of the Griffon and Y’s 3 were underated titles both great games.
I love my TurboGrafx 16, but my game library is kind of lacking, as I only have 10 games... I'm still holding out hope that the Mini finally comes back into stock so I can buy one for retail cost, not the jacked up scalper price...
Recommend Cyber Core and Bravoman if theyre not too expensive
I pooped once. I've pooped again since then, but that doesn't take away from the truth that I pooped that one time as well. What I'm trying to say is that this is an awesome video. Been looking for more good games to try on my tg16.
We're all 'Toilet Kids' at heart.
Magical Chase also has a very good Game Boy Color version. You wouldn't think that due to the screen size, but it works very well for it.
Aeroblasters is so underrated. Maybe not the best SCHMUP on the TG-16, But it's up there.
Military Madness is one of my all time favorite games. I've list count of how many times I've played it through.

Good video.
Morning riggs
I'm obviously not Riggs, but still... good morning, Minister and ambassador.
I love your PC Engine and Turbographics videos Riggs!!
Turbo Grafx16/Pc Engine is great. Never Understood why it lack's of popularity outside Japan. For me it would be even better than Genesis/Mega Drive if it had a chance. The soundtrack for tricky kick was fantastic..
What about Ninja Spirit?!? One of the Prettiest 16 bit games I’ve ever seen and very underrated!
Blazing lazers is cool and the music is killer. 😀👍🎮
Chew Man Fu looks pretty intriguing.
TG16 one of the all time classic consoles!
3:32 aero blasters is one of my favorites
Why only 15 gems instead of 16 since its the TG16?
Lol, j/k great video
KoC Red and Green were great, so was the the PC-E CD Fire Pro Joshi Dome game, if you can find it.
Yessss. I needed this because I’m about to hack my TG16 mini.
Jackie Chan’s Action Kung Fu looks tight. Wish they included that in the mini over China Warrior
Love your Turbo Grafx vids. Reminds me of back in the day. I had this machine and probably every game for it. Which reminds me... How could you have missed Splatterhouse?
Really like the version of altered beast on the tg16. Believe its called Jakkan or something rather.
Welcome to the family
Your copy of Double Dungeons seems wrong to me. The most famous hidden “gem” is Jimmy Hoffa.
They actually made an Animated Series based off of Bravoman
Man love that turbo color palet!
Too bad we never got this
Man, I played the *snot* out of Neutopia II! I was no great Zelda fan growing up (still not; that bug just never bit me) But Neutopia II hooked me right in. It's a shame the third entry, plugged at the end of II, never materialized.
World Class Baseball !!!
Ordyne was my favorite! It objectively wasn't the best on the system and it hasn't aged well, but it's a very competent port of the arcade original and those colors and character designs totally drew me in at the age of six!
Ordyne has so much personality even some of the bullets you shoot have faces
I can tell you we a big fan of the gnarly Beat em' Up side scrollers like myself.
You should do a video on your top 10 favorite excellent Beat em' Up side scrollers of all-time and incorporate every system in that list.
I myself have a few on NES, some on Sega, SNES, PlayStation, etc etc....
Let's see whatcha have!
Curious if order of.the griffon was here in any list
You didn't even mention the best part about Dungeon Explorer, it's 5 players!
What happened to that heavy metal intro , actually?😀 That was always good blast off!
That's Metal Jesus Rocks (I haven't watched John's entire backlog though so it could very well be him as well)
Are these titles that are in the TurboGrafx-16 Mini? ...or just from your own collection on the original TurboGrafx-16?
Parasol Stars is the best Bubble Bobble game. Fact.
Double dungeons is high on lotsa peoples lists. Wait what... ? :| On a sidenote: Anyone who's into games like Eyo of the Beholder, pool of radiance, d&d games in general and TGX/PCE needs to check out the title "The Order of The Griffon".
Dead Moon has ALL the parallax.
5:17 Sorry, what is this guy doing???
Hi do you know of Any accessories to add to the Turbo graphics 16 original system to save your game progress.
Thanks
There's the Turbo Booster Plus which allows you to save and adds composite video/audio output.
I need to get my turbografx 16 out of storage.
5:15 😳
Where dat AD&D game?
Splatterhouse
Snes still has the Best, Best of the Best
Best of Best is a 1989 Karate movie
Great movie
I see creatermaze is doraemon
I want to like PCE games but every time I play them, they always feel generic and the gameplay feels.........lacking.
Yeah, there are better games from all these genres on the other 16 bit systems of the era.
Double Dungeons is a hidden gem......?😂
👍🏻👍🏻
Half these games are terrible. I think all are Turbochips/HuCards, so I will stick to that theme, yes Dungeon Explorer, Neutopia 1 and 2, AeroBlasters, Magical Chase, Dead Moon, Blazing Lazers, are all really good. Double Dungeons is a double turd of a game.
