      The niger delta has been destroyed with oil spills. Accessing capital is almost impossible for most nigerians. There are open sewers, poor road infrastructure, unstable electricity, mass poverty, ethnic insecurity and banditry, etc.. You think that 60 years of mismanagement can be fixed in 4 years? Most of the people who are running are directly tied to the mismanagement. We must become realistic about our condition in hopes of solving our problems.

    Might be an unpopular opinion but Dubai thrives because it's an Emirate and not a democracy. The owners of Dubia which is the ruling family have a vested and genuine interest in the development of their country cos it's like their private property or heritage, handed through the ancestral lines. So they are vested in it's success. Democracy breeds gluttony, selfishness and the need to perpetuate thievery by a small group of people who know their time at the top is limited and would want to grab everything at once at the expense of the general population.

      I beg to differ slightly.
      Dubai deserves the credit for its extraordinary achievements in record time, but this has nothing to do with democratic or monarchial rule. Most democracies in the West for instance have been developed far longer than Dubai. Some of those countries may not be as flashy as Dubai but they've built a sustainable and reliable environment that allows people to achieve their goals.
      Dubai also needed more experienced professionals from advanced democratic nations to help build It up.
      In summary, I'd say there are countries led by monarchies or autocrats that are in a mess. And there are so-called democratic countries like Nigeria that are messed up as well.
      Dubai has done an amazing job so far and is set for an even greater future.

      Opening business doesn't mean you are are only open to doing business alone or all by yourself. I'm an advocate of putting resources together and opening a business by 1,2, 3 or more persons. It's just that we lack the will as Africans to put resources together and open business. I have more Indians, Pakistani and Bangladeshis friends and I have seen how they come together put resources together and open a business. But I haven't seen such from Africans. We may diverse but our lack of togetherness is really affecting us here. That's why other nationalties have more advantage than we Africans. We have to forget our boundaries and come together as Africans and not as a divisive country that separated us. My opinion though

    I have not gotten what I seek in Dubai. I have no doubt its due to the stereotype we have been branded with... but directly, I have not been treated differently because I am Nigerian. This video filled me with Ideas... We always want to take... take jobs from people and other nationalities who invested, but don't think of creating jobs here to help their economy since we are here. One can see that if these wonderful Nigerians who own businesses here had an enabling Nigeria, they will do better, but if we who want to get jobs were in 'enabling' Nigeria, we will use up the resources. This video is the best thing that has happened to me in a while... thank you Steven.

    My comment on this is, Dubai has been able to grow to this extent because of their type of government. In my country Nigeria, we choose government every four years, now each government has its own plan for the country, the projects started by the present government if the next government comes in they will start another one , rather then continue with the ones started by the present government, so first we have to look at the type of governance practice in Nigeria.

  • @lettymelanin5104
    @lettymelanin5104 2 года назад +2

    The problem is that most Africans think building European countries and America it's something to brag about. European countries and America don't want unskilled Africans. Majority of us go there to help them build their own countries with our skills while our countries are a ditch. An African can be a millionaire overseas but won't bother to take few dollars to build a school in his home town, buy a franchise at home that is going to create jobs for his people. They prefer buying houses in Europe. For an example, i have never heard that Dangote built a hospital or a school in Nigeria. It will take some good samaritan from America to donate money to children who need surgeries in Africa while Africans are buying expensive alcohol overseas.
